  • I am a big fan of yours and I respect your opinion, but I loved this movie. Best movie I've seen in 2012. Just my thoughts so.

  • *stylite*

  • there is something after the credits. with an ending like that. they just wouldnt end it like that

  • Thank you! Someone who actually agrees that The Grey wasn't as good as some people were making it out to be.

  • This has to be the first of Eric's reviews that i completely disagree with. The Grey was an awesome movie, and had me interested the entire way through. Personally i think the wolves looked great, most shot of them were in the dark which gave them a more intimidating look and they looked as close to real as you can get. The struggle of the survivors was really interesting, and to see how they changed and began to care for each other was great.

  • Eric while I love your movie reviews and respect them I think this one went over your head. A previous comment was correct in saying that the wolves were symbolic. When you finally reach the point in the film where you discover the reason for all those random scenes between liams character and his wife then it becomes clear, it did to me, that the wolves are symbolic for his own inner struggle. And at the end when he stands to face the alpha he is either going to "live" or "die".

  • @disneydancergirl I think so too, I said in the review that I probably missed something.

  • theres a clip at the end basically the alpha is lying down and hes resting his head on it

  • i saw the Grey and I thought the whole movie was overall entertaining but I didnt like the ending of it

  • @MultiGoldenMind

You should have stayed until after the credits :)

  • i honestly loved the movie. i thought it was good. some parts i could of done without like when that guy died after the plane crash. but all in all i thought it was pretty good id give it a 3.5 out of 5

  • I knew Qui-Gon went to Hoth!!

  • you missed it and it went over your head. sorry.

  • @hieuwey That's what I said. Thanks.

  • @PrettyMuchIt I know you are a good movie watcher and not a lazy one. I like watching your reviews. and respect them a lot. This time i saw the movie before i saw your review and yes i think a little went over your head and i was surprised/ I do believe that the characters were very relatable, they just struggled to make them stand out from other movies like this one.

  • @PrettyMuchIt the fight at the end didnt matter any more due to what the film shows you a minute before he jumps to fighting the Alpha. would it help if i told you that the wolves were symbolic. and the alpha very symbolic to the main more so. it wasnt the fight that mattered. nore who lived or not. it was why. and that was answered before the throw down.

  • He SAID if you liked the movie explain why!!! not say his review is stupid! man...There are some really stupid people in this world...

  • All it was was a story about a bunch of people that got killed by the wolves, which again, sounds like a true story at best, but not even. If Liam Neeson hadn't been in it, I wouldn't have seen it.

  • That being said, The Grey wasn't even based off of a true story! It was based off of a short story! So what was it's excuse for being so bad? You were right Eric, it was very unoriginal. Very little character development. Yeah we know Liam has a woman he misses. Yeah we know he misses his dad. It doesn't do anything. That doesn't help him when it came to the wolves.

  • To me, The Grey felt like a "based on a true story" movie. Now I generally don't appreciate "based on a true story movies" as actual movies, because the number one rule of story telling is that you don't tell something just because it's true. If a story is completely awesome and dynamic without you knowing that it's based off of a true story, then awesome, tell it all you want, otherwise i just feel like it's more like a glorified documentary, not a piece of art.

  • Eric! Have you seen the trailer for Silent House?! What do you think?!!???

  • People these days... People act like a movie is suppose to be something, or fit to what they want or like. Some people like the Grey, some people probably think it's stupid and too scary. I like this kind of movie, I actually have no seen it, but this movie is so me that I know I will love it, I will not analize it and think about everything like "Oh the sound is a bit weird at this part" or "The angle is stupid here" I'm going at 10 Oclock tonight, paying with my new job, AND I'LL LOVE IT!!!

  • @ChamorruWarrior ... I hope you're not suggesting I analyzed it like that, just odd to leave a comment like this when it's really not relevant to anything that was said in this review haha

  • @PrettyMuchIt i respectfully dissagree given the trailer what where you expecting from the movie? i thought it would be a tougher revamp of a film like 'the edge'.

i was surprised to see a man vs nature film focusing on the philosiphy of death, and acceptance of death. unlike horror films like 2011 'the thing' which focused on startle moments this film was truly horrifying at times such as the eyes and wolfs breath scene. also considering the budget some of the scenes were beautifully shot.

  • @treetheoak As I said in the review, I didn't watch any trailers because people told me not to and because of that I expected some wild and crazy story with twists and turns and was let down for that reason. I did say I unfortunately went in with different expectations.

  • @PrettyMuchIt thats too bad personally i was very impressed about the movie considering the budget and Liam taking a chunk of it right off the bat i think it was great. the plane crash had me gasping, and the night scenes were more terrifying than any horror movie in the past 3 years. i know what you mean by Liam playing Liam but lets face it, if he was playing Schindler or gave himself more of a presence the suspension of disbelief would be ruined. at times i was lost with the movie and crew.

  • @PrettyMuchIt looking at the trailer now do you understand why audience and critics are pleasantly surprised?

  • @treetheoak Not at all, the trailer makes it look like an action movie. You think the trailer markets it accurately?

  • @PrettyMuchIt not at all and thats what myself and Critics are saying. this movie is marketed as The Edge with the character from Taken instead of Anthony Hopkins. (seeing as this is the director of Smoking Aces i thought it would be a stupid fun ride) yet when i saw it i was impressed that this movie was actually a philosophical view on life and death; how one deals and accepts death/life. and the characters themselves are not 'red shirts' but outlooks and philosophies of life and death.

  • @PrettyMuchIt yet i agree trying to capture the view or the experience of the movie is like catching lightning in a bottle. it cannot be remade, and if you were to go into this with high expectations i can see how you can see the faults (which there are many) of this movie. yet for myself and many critics who thought the smoking Aces director would bring us an older Hanna we instead got a very human story of death. i can see why you (or people expecting an action movie) would be disappointed.

  • Not really saying you personally, just people in general. I have friends who would watch this review and then claim that this movie is stupid, boring and a failure without even seeing the movie. If you like a movie, or don't like a movie, it doesn't mean anything to me. Because what I like and what you like are different. Obviously there are crappy made movies, and good quality movies. But I'm sure the Grey was made well, and that it's just an opinion not a fact of if it's "good" or not.

  • I liked this movie, I think my mistake was that I went expecting to see an action-packed movie. The ending is alright, but I think they could've done something more memorable if they were gonna kill him. I enjoy any movie Liam Neeson makes.

  • I disliked the review, not because you did a poor job, but like you said "I may have just miss something". Let me share what I thought were the 5 Major Themes of the movie Manhood, Nihilism, Faith (or lack of) Death, and Perseverance. This is a movie you cannot just watch, you have to process. The director took away the audience's safety net and we had to deal with real stuff. Try the movie again through these 5 lenses and see if it comes across different to you.

  • This is how I felt about insidious.

  • I wish the ending was him realizing he had walked in a Giant circle and he was back at the crash , then somehow killed himself, would have been more memorable and overall impacted the audience a little more than just a cut to credits "use your imagination ending". Overall it was really good though and worth checking out!

  • No u just stupid ass fuck u talk shit on all movies do u like eny movies fuck

  • @Russtk18 I talk shit on all movies? *audience laughs*

  • @PrettyMuchIt I disagree buddy. The movie was excellent...has a ton of symbolic philosophical ideals about nature and the value of human life. It is shown in many scenes including the giving up scene as well as the lets say a prayer scene. Also, the sound mixing was great and it had a core message to tell the audience about the reality of death.....which was very well done. I respect your opinion, but dig a little deeper into the symbolism brother.

  • @Russtk18 Um... Wow. What crawled up your ass and died?

  • Loved the movie, and I thought it had a phenominal ending!

  • the movie was great but the ending sucked!

  • Erik his struggle wasn't with the wolves or nature. the movie was about accepting death. throughout the movie each of the characters are learning to accept death in their own ways. it was a pretty deep movie rather than entertaining

  • Dont you like ANY movies not named TWILIGHT??

  • @chemicalkidd917 Haha it almost feels like you just time traveled to this video from 2008. Welcome.

  • Fuck you

  • goood movie!

  • i cant blame you for not getting into this film. if you think about it, you cant really put down the movie. its really all the ads that let everyone down. im sure everyone went in expecting to c neeson take on the alpha at the end. so i dont blame the ones that were waiting for that to come out disappointed. one thing, i will never understand is something to b shown in the trailer & not b in the actual movie. overall, im hoping they come out with an extended directors cut to please fans.

  • I have been watching your vids for a long time. i really would likr to have a good movie convo about this one and a couple more. i promiose i am not a hater, or any of these crap talkers that jump on here. i am a film maker in NYC and i really want to ask a few questions on your opinions.

  • bang cops and robber bang bang robbers and cops

  • Honestly it sounds like from your from your review you watched the preview, and you're giving your opinion of that, not the movie.

  • i wish i could give you more dislikes but i cant .

  • People may be familiar with this already, but there are groups who are bitching about wolves being portrayed in a "negative light" and that the cast ate wolf meat. I have a feeling that will hurt box office numbers.

Anyways, this was a good review, but I'm going to see the movie regardless because I think it looks good.

  • this movie was so sad, but amazing. great cinematics, watch this movie.

  • HAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD!!! Who is stupid enough to say this was his best character. His Best character had to be Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins.

  • @8BITWORLDX2 ? that was not his best, although it was very good

  • @8BITWORLDX2 Disagree, this character was better that Ra's Al Ghul, but this character is nother compared to Shindler.

  • just go eat a dick that movie was awesome you think your a movie expert go make a movie and lest see what the say about it

  • @MustacheFlash Just a heads up; starting off a sentence with "go eat a dick" is not the best way to give people the illusion that you're not a 12 year old kid.

  • Comment removed

  • @PrettyMuchIt apply water to the burned area

  • @PrettyMuchIt Haha Eric ignore them!! Or keep replying, your responses (and your videos) make good entertainment :) Well done.

  • @MustacheFlash I agree that the movie was Amazing, but man you just sound like and asshole. What movies have you made?

  • Dang! Folks either hate or love this movie. Which is always interesting. There is a special place for movies like that. And for that reason I think I'm looking forward to seeing it. I gotta say it's hard to be on autopilot when you're filming in -40 weather. Still, there are these movies where actors want to "stretch" themselves and their experience in filming is intense and a growth experience but it doesn't translate to the audience. Thanks for the review.

  • @scifiwritir1 it is a great movie, it was pretty sad throughout. alot of emotion at times.

  • i had low expectations and i thought it was great

  • The only thing that really surprised me was that they spelt grey with an 'E'

  • @Farmeryeti

    Gray=American Spelling

Grey=British, Canadian, Australian, Irish, and New Zealand spelling

    Hope that clears things up.

  • @crazybaseballdude12 I know, I'm British. I was just saying that I was surprised to see that with a dominantly American made movie culture, they use the spelling that isn't American.

  • Well the preview can deceive a lot of people, but I went to see this movie not looking for action, but more of a drama. Neeson to me is more of a drama actor than action. So with that expectation I did enjoyed the movie.

  • You do not know what your talking about this was great I really don't get reviews if want to know what a movie is likes stop sitting on your ass and go see it

  • I went to a screening with the director, Joe Carnahan, and three of the actors (needless to say, Liam Neeson was not present). I found the movie to be fantastic, and it was very interesting to hear what the director and actors had to say, especially about the presence of death. I believe the director said there was very little CGI with the wolves because they wanted to make them look as real as possible, but there were puppets as well as real wolves I believe. Also, it was all filmed in Alaska.

  • When Eric said the wolves looked like puppets is it odd that I said "Nope, Chuck Testa"?

  • Hey eric, are you excited for Chronicle? I sure am, I was hoping for a trailer review, but now that the movie is coming out in like a week, no need. But there better be a review on it, or I unsubscribe. Nah, just kidding. Would never do that, i've been subscribed to you since I had this channel.

  • Hey bro I am big fan. I think you and your friends are hilarious. Just a thought you should have a fan appreciation day and hang out with your fan base. Anyway are you going to review Redtails and Underworld. Keep up the good work bro!

  • I went in with low hopes and ended up loving it

  • I went in with low hopes and enjoyed it

  • i liked it but i totally agree with you on the wanting more of the ending. but i found out that theres a 3 sec scene after the credits when i got home (my luck)

  • @1jaredjacobs What you missing is that this movie wasnt about the struggle between the wolves and them. if you watch the movie ha you will see its much more deeper than him battling this wolf. Hence there was no need for a final bloody throw down the point had been proven. closer happened a minute before he decided to fight that wolf

  • There was an extra scene after the credits but it was like 3 seconds long

  • @PrettyMuchIt I completely agree, yes the movie had great acting, cinematography, and some emotional moments but there was nothing that made this movie special, nothing really made this movie stand or unique, unlike you i wasn't really excepting anything special I could tell by the trailer that this movie was just something you were going to forget about in the mourning...

P.S Was Moonrise Kingdom played at Sundance?? because it looks AMAZING!! (and if it was can you please do a review)

  • Ahh thanks for the review. It did not look good when I first saw the trailers. I do not want to see it.

  • Wolves look like puppets?! Wolves in an hour then I guess, right?1

  • i liked it, except it was hard to just go with the whole idea of wolves killing humans.

  • You always like those really unknown movies and never the big ones.

  • liam neeson is god but i dont wanna pay to see him fight wolves

  • Hey I wonder, did you like Friends with benefits?

I was expecting to like that movie so much more than I actually did, I was just curious to hear your thoughts....

  • SCREAM 4 REVIEW! You said you would try to watch the series :(

  • I came here because JeremyJahns hadn't posted a review yet. But I'll sub. :)

  • @jblast8 I'm surprised he hasn't posted a review yet... has anyone checked on him recently?! HE COULD BE DEAD!

  • @PrettyMuchIt Dear God, DON'T SAY THAT! Ha, but thanks for the review. I'm still debating whether or not to see it. Never actually seen a full Liam Neeson movie.

  • @PrettyMuchIt

    you killed him !

  • @PrettyMuchIt haha. this was really good i just got back from it. Eric, you cost me about $250 worth of tickets each year

  • @PrettyMuchIt i think ya just missed the point

  • Is this movie like Frozen?

  • Just got back from this and haywire loved both films and the ending to this film was amazing

  • this movie came out already?

  • Eric, I am planning on seeing this tomorrow. Would you say that this or Contraband was better?

  • come at me bro (eric)

  • I heard cinematography was great, acting was great, characters are well-developed, and that it was more of a nature vs man rather than man vs wolf, which aided the general theme about death. I think based on that stuff there, it's getting good reviews. one of my favorite review sites Spill.com gave it their highest rating and I trust them so I'll be seeing this movie and most likely I will enjoy the fuck out of it because it sounds awesome.

  • @mydaddyatemyeyes I heard all the same things, like I said, and perhaps my expectations were too high.

  • Mr. Eric, you look extremely tired! Go get some rest boy! Anyway, love the reviews, keep up the awesome work! And I have to agree, I don't really understand all the hype that went behind this movie. When I first watched the teaser trailer, to be honest I thought the wolves were actually Werewolves haha. And then I thought there would be a twist in the movie, but then I come to find out it's just about a guy trying to survive against some wolves... a bit ant-climatic

  • I've just subsribed to ur channel recently and I'm glad I did! I love ur reviews and I think you address pretty much all the angles of each movie. Thanks for being awesome :)

  • Comment removed

  • I always dance to the music in the intro.

  • HEY!!! NICE JOB COPYIN PETER RALLIS!!!!! GET A FUCKING SUIT DOUCHEBAG!!!!!

  • @cloverkill217 I WAS JKING LOL PLEASE DONT THINK I WAS SERIOUS LOL sorry caps haha

  • @cloverkill217 Wow. Harsh much?

  • That's too bad, I feel like the hype kind of spoils the experience for you a bit. Didn't the same thing happen with True Grit?

  • dude could you please upload the vids of you complaining about us wonderin where u where at then wonderin y we thought u where a douche

  • Visuals - the bed hallucination leading into the snow, the wolves eyes coming through in the dark.

  • is the friday video uploading?(:

  • This is completely irrelevant but whatever... is there going to be a ferris bueller's day off 2 or are they just screwing with us?

  • Eric, I'm not asking just to flood you with questions or add to your movie list or anything. But do you plan to see The Lady in Black (and review it)? I don't know wether to see that or Chronicle on friday, both seem like "Could be either really good or really terrible" movies, but I want to be optimistic.

  • do you have any shirts with logos? Cause in all your vids you just have blank colored shirts xD jus wondering brochata

  • also, I've seen the trailer to this movie hundreds of times, and I still don't know what it's about... :(

Are you going to review 'Woman in black'?

  • I always get excited when I see a new video post in my inbox! :)

  • Good review man, keep them up.

  • Nice review Eric! Keep them coming!

  • @PrettyMuchIt Are you going to watch/review Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, sorry if this has already been answered or addressed in another video but are you going to review the film We Need to Talk About Kevin? Thanks!

  • @PrettyMuchIt what did you think of the ending and the post credits scene? I think they took a huge risk with the ending, but I personally loved it. As for the post credits I was indifferent.

  • Haters gonna hate, Potatoes gonno potate

  • im gonna see this!

  • i heart you all...peace friendos...peeeaaace...hey eric good show friendo...i'm sorry for coming off too spiritual, i'm kinda high right now...

  • Do you mirror the trailers so as to avoid copyright?

  • Comment removed

  • @DarkLuffay I think its ok to use trailers in reviews cuz its like promo stuff they release nd it doesn't take up ya kno most of the video

  • Wait when does Chronicle come out

  • i always look forward to seeing what that same shirt's color will be in each video.

  • ERIC. Are you going to do a review on Underworld: Awakening?

  • @RollerCoasterTycoon8 Of course... after Chronicle.

  • Lol everyone is on his dick. Funny

  • @hustln4life You' just jelly because you lack a pee-pee shooter of your own.

  • did you intentionally coordinate your attire to your review? also, have you seen the film Chloe? I felt Liam Neeson was on "auto pilot" during that film: is it a similar performance? Good review though, always tricky finding words for fogettable films.

  • hey eric, don't listen to any hate comments, your vids are awesome and i enjoy them ! hope to see a chronicle review! - eddy

  • @EddyGarrity Oh nooooo no no haha I hope you don't think I'm actually bothered by a couple of kids' comments on YouTube! I only reply because I find it entertaining. Most YouTubers ignore them but I like to have fun. Glad you like the videos and you'll definitely see a Chronicle review asap!

  • @PrettyMuchIt cool, thanks.

  • @PrettyMuchIt dude lol like i said it was nothing personal man haha im just sayin your show kinda has just gone down hill man

  • @PrettyMuchIt if your replies to those comments are just you having fun then, well, I dunno I think you should just amp that shit up a bit. "you dick gorilla i reign supremacy in a godly firestorm upon your inferior ass you intolerable ass poptart" shit like that would be entertaining.

  • @PrettyMuchIt FINALLY! someone who gets it! XD - everyone always asks me: "Why do you respond to their stupid comment?" XD CAUSE IT'S FUN! lol

  • @PrettyMuchIt Hey homie I am a big fan man. I try to catch your reviews weekly. You and your friends are hilarious. I have a great idea for you. I think you should have a fan appreciation day. Where you can hang with all your fans. You know but anyway bro keep it up. Hey subscribe to me if you get a chance.

  • @EddyGarrity Kiss ass.

  • @1BBL5 I can't see any sentences in my comments to Eric being "kiss ass" material, I'm just glad he's not taking offence to dumb comments just like I'm not going to take offence to yours, I'm also glad he's doing a review for chronicle because I'm interested in that film and would like to hear someone else's opinion on it. if you'd like to explain why you thought I was sucking up to him I'd be happy to see what you have to say.

  • Being honest I'm kind of disappointed you were joking when you said you'd end every review with "and that's pretty much" *slow zoom *serious face ahahahahah

  • They were all anamotrinic wolves

  • I am going to watch because it looks kinda interesting. Great review as always!

  • Great review Eric! When you gonna do your Top 10 of 2011? :)

  • I think the comments on this video are a metaphor for the wolves descending on Liam Neeson.

  • I believe that this movie's trailer depicted it a supernatural event involving werewolves or an action-flick of sorts and, when people watch it later on, they realize it's pretty slow and nonchalant. It's still entertaining and the story is interesting enough, but it left a bad taste in my mouth after I saw it. I was expecting more. I also believe that they used actual wolves throughout the whole movie, it's just that in some scenes they edited the footage to make the wolves move unrealisticly.

  • @Masterdarwin88 Agreed, I expected something really wild to happen at some point!

  • i feel like the comments should be about the movie not about hating on you wtf

  • @jessicaemilym Welcome to YouTube.

  • @TheXJthatCould wise decision man, this channel is not the same anymore. And all he ever does is insult his viewers for having opinions in the comment section

  • @hustln4life thought the same :/ boring me now...everyone thinks its over the movie lmao

  • @cloverkill217 great point, and he is very short tempered to insult you like that. He has again proven to be a dick

  • @hustln4life Great point? None of you can speak without making hundreds of mistakes within proper english grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. All I see is a 11-year old trolling someone who has the guts to make videos about his opinions on various films. YOU are the dick for being judgemental enough to only look at the negatives instead of trying to understand the point of the video... which is that he doesn't given a shit if you don't agree. It's -his- opinion. Fuck off.

  • aaaaaandddddddd unsubbed :/

  • @TheXJthatCould Like, who cares? Just walk away silently if you're disappointed or something, no need to share it with the rest of the world who doesn't give a shit. Eric, keep it up man, what you've done with the channel is great and I really enjoy watching your vids. So keep it up! :)

  • @NorekXtreme keep it silent! :o! i wasnt talking to you! :D your making my comment alot worse then its supposed 2 be...causing an arguement :)

  • @TheXJthatCould Because he doesn't like a movie? That's pretty pathetic.

  • @FarfetchdForDinner your pathetic that u think its over the movie, i dont like his reviews anymore, i think they are bland and boring as shit? make u feel better?

  • @TheXJthatCould If you have such a vulgar opinion, then why not have enough respect for another human being to keep it to yourself? To blatantly say: 'Aaaaand unsubbed' on the comments section of his video is acting like a dick... and from the way you speak and the retarded-outline of your own channel, it seems that you're just another hungry troll trying to create more drama. Eric, I suggest you block hustln3life & TheXJthatCould since they will just continue bothering you.

  • u should re upload your vids that bitched at the fans and the one that said sorry u thought i sounded like a douche lol i didnt get the chance to see them man :( hahaha

  • i love your reviews
