  • They never went to another parent-teacher interview for my remaining years at school, despite hands and knees pleas from my teachers and my high school principal in senior high school (1986 and 1987). Just imagine the stories I could of told like the one I already on online sites like this if they bothered to turn up to many more parent-teacher interviews.

  • Such a show was wanted for so long. At a parent-teacher session my parents went to in either last term 1976 (Year 1) or first term 1977 (Year 2), I over heard a teacher complain to a parent that Sesame Street was corrupting the minds of her students by the show using US sayings, spellings, culture and values and her students loved Sesame street. Well, I only had a short time to witness parent-teacher interviews as the very last such event my parents ever went to was in term 1 in 1978 (Year 3).

  • Lift Off was a very good attempt to create a truly quique Australian version of Sesame Street with Australian culture, sayings, spellings and values. The producers of this show used the people who's ideas are used in Sesame Street as a start. But when the Howard government was elected in 1996, Howard axed the program and cut ABC funding by a great amount. Thankfully the ABC still airs Sesame Street. A total of 78 episodes were made.

  • Lol I use to get freaked out by the smiley face at at end of the closing credits. Put me off watching it for years.

  • poor quality like all australian programs

  • AAAAAH!!! I LOVED this show when I was little!!!

  • I remember this. Back in the mid 90s it aired on channel 4. Seem to recall it being early on sunday mornings.

  • OH MY GOSH. Every now and then I get this tune stuck in my head, and I have NO idea where it is from or if I had just made it up or something. WOW. WOW. Thank you.

  • I was probably too old for this show but my sister used to watch it. Still creeps me out looking at these clips

  • I always loved the intro to this show.

  • can anyone explain to me what this show was about, i watched it all the time but i never understood it. it just kept me quite so mum was happy......

  • I remember this show very well, thank you!

  • what's with the weird big face character with short black hair in the intro?

  • @justthething1984

Its one of the Ruck sack things im pretty sure.

  • Does anyone remember an episode where the fish dies. I couldn't sleep at the thought of dying after that. I was 3.

  • Thank Christ I'm not the only one that was freaked out by this show.

  • This show was so sinister. I had recurring nightmares when I was a child involving the talking plants and the face-less doll.

    Absolutely horrid.

  • This show weirded me out a lot. My childhood would have been ruined if I watched it.

  • @Spacemonkeymojo You're too close-minded. The faceless doll freaked me out a bit at first, but I gave it a chance and I loved the show. The main point I got about EC the doll was that we shouldn't judge people based on their appearance. I was 10 when it was on

  • @Trees82 Thanks for that. I was probably 8 or so when it was on TV. I could say that you have no right to judge my degree of stubborness, especially when I was at a young and naive age. But hey, from seeing other posts on your page I can quickly discern that you are a very condenscending person, who seems patronize others based on one post that they have made on *Youtube*. I might be closed-minded, but you are also, and you're also a real big dickhead, dickhead.

  • @Spacemonkeymojo That's a pretty condescending judgement. So you were 8 when the show was on? How old were you when you posted a comment saying that your childhood would've been ruined if you'd watched Lift-off?

  • @Trees82 Do you take everything so seriously? You're very arrogant. I don't care what you say, my view about the show will not change. Go and preach to someone else.

  • I always felt weird when I watched this show.

  • i can still remember watching this intro many years ago

  • Aussie tv at its best i loved this show its a shame it wasn't around for long as it was really good i dunno about EC though i agree with other wen they say that doll was a bit creepy but still a really good show though :-)

  • Listen to those funky, early 90's bass-lines. Seinfeld eat your heart out.

  • @tristanauspride : Mark Mitchell.....

  • I found this show scary and weird....

  • When the show was first popular, after a little while a few EC dolls appeared in the shops, and we got one for one of my primary age daughters. She took it to school. After school, one of the younger kids saw it, and yelled to her mum "It's EC!!!! - it's EC!!!". The kid desparately wanted to get closer. The mum just dragged her along, in a hurry, and knowing of course that it wasn't the real EC. As the kid was dragged away she kept looking back, and sobbing "It's EC!!!.. it's EC!!!..."

  • god this show was creepy

  • I know! I used to be really scared of EC because he had no face lol

  • oh yes.....it truly is what nightmares are made of

  • this show freaked me out as a kid

  • OMG I used to love this show, with nipper and ec, sooo cute! I should come back!

  • this was by far one of the most imaginative shows i've ever seen... sooooo many days after school watching this.... there were only a few shit episodes... but it was one of those shows where u just watch... no talking... just sit & stare at the screen almost tripping out even.... lol

  • sweet mother of crap... memories.

  • Oh man I loved this show. I was born a little late for it but I watched reruns when I was 4 or 5. I love the elevator and the talking backpacks, but EC always scared me a little lol. Very strange, very entertaining show, up there with Art Attack and Princess and the Cobbler among my favourite childhood TV memories.

  • this was my all time favourite show as a kid

I have all the videos and the E.C doll

and I went to their shows they did

    :D

  • oh god i miss the 90's shows soooo bad !this has brought tears to my eyes lol

  • i remember this episode. i thought it was so sad... as an 8 year old.

  • oh man, EC, the doll, flipped me out as a kid. It's a fuckin moving doll with no eyes and downie hands! DOWNIE HANDS! Gurarghh. And then Mark Mitchell, he just freaked me out anyway. And I always remember, I'd get so so sooo bored during the frill neck lizard sequences. WTF WERE THEY DOING!?

  • OMG i loved this show XD

  • lol me and my sis were young wen this was on but we used to sing CMON AND PISS OFF in stead of lift off looool

  • hell, I believe that our generation had a number of alternate lyrics to the kids shows we watched that were sung in the playground.

  • Hey Mick

    Cheers for uploading this.

  • • Check out my channel, i have a petition to get these shows back on the ABC

    (Australia)

  • fuck, i had the doll of EC when i was a kid. i loved this show but damn that doll scared me. my mum had to draw a face on it for me. XD

  • who knows the lyrics? i could never understand exactly what they were saying ... actually I couldn't understand most of the show, lol.

  • Wow, this brings back so many memories. Every Saturday morning my sister and I would get up really early just to watch this. One gripe: those wolf things in the diner were freaky as hell. To this day I still can't handle them.

  • i think this was one of the shows i could *never* miss when i was like... 4... and now i'm 18 and seeing the no face doll... well it's just disturbing.

  • CHECK OUT MY PAGE TO PETITION THE RETURN OF THESE SHOWS, when you get there click the link

  • you dont have the version with the lyrics do you? could you upload if you do

  • The way i uploaded it to my computer was crap.

I for some reason only get the left Audio, i will try again when i get the chance but i doubt i will be able to get the right side aswell.

    Sorry.

  • I've just uploaded the closing credits, which has got the theme song being sung.

  • @oscroll mrslimjim has uploaded the closing credits which have the lyrics I think. And someone else did both in a row.

  • As a child, this scared me and confused me, and seeing it now makes me nervous and scared ahaha and im 18!

That no-face baby was the worst!

90's TV was some scary shit!

  • I so agree. I never ever understood this show, it was trippy and weird. It's a wonder all us 90's children aren't scared for life.

  • that start always confused the shit outa me...... O_o

  • Yessss...EC was a freaky doll with his non-existent face and wooden spoon hands...but I always had to keep watching...

  • I have the doll..it scares me but I love it anyway.

  • hey, does anyone remember the lyrics to the intro? if so, can you put em up?

  • Lift-off land is a magical place, though you can't say just where it is. Load off the bags and ignore Mr Fish, 'cause he'll say that it's none of your biz!

    Come on and lift off!

With Otis and EC Beverly Rocky and us.

There's a story to tell, and a world as well, and a how-do-youdo wackadoo!

  • HOLY FUCK! I've been looking for this intro forever, but couldn't remember the name of the show. Sweetness.

I couldnt look at ec when i was a kid, theres something about a doll with no face who uses mime to communicate scares the shit out of me.

How about the plant in the lobby with the eyeball?

That scared the shit out of me as a kid.

  • yes! haha, all the same here!

oh god I'd forgotten about that bloody plant! probably for the best cos if it scared me that much it might have left me with emotional scaring haha. but its great to look at all these shoes again.. it seems like it's about 50 years ago haha.
