  • Thanks, this is really helpful :)

  • nfxbeats,Could you explain to me why this is important. Also,Is this method use if you to put two genres in your song. For example, house & dubstep in a track.

  • Thank you.

  • In FL 10 this isn't a problem

  • @GOOB3000 how do u do this fl 10? Please thank you

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH. Was screwing for too long. Even if you try and work out a ratio for the percentages with the automation clips alone, you can only change the tempo by 4 bpm intervals anyway, I though I was gonna keep screwin all day. You just saved someone from committing suicide

  • i have a project ready for export, but when i export it it doesnt keep my tempo changes, any idea how to fix this?

  • can you set the bpm per pattern to ? for example

i need my pattern 1 at 145 bpm

but my pattern 2 at 120 so when i play it the my kicks will be 145 and the vocal 120

    can that be done ?

  • Thank you sir! You are a god among men with your extremely helpful tutorials!

  • Thanks man! This helped me alot!

  • Changing the tempo via automation is actually relatively straightforward. The max BPM is 999, so the percentages are relative to that number. (i.e. 58% of 999 bpm is approximately 580.) It's not EXACT, but fractions of 1 bpm are usually irrelevant. If you need to know exactly what the bpm is at any given point, you can just look at the tempo display at the top of the screen.

  • i accidentally set some really random tempos and all i really want is a steady 82 tempo. i don't even know how i got there, but i do not want any tempo change. i want to UNDO this effect. Help if you can please and thank you (:

  • im using the lastest fl i think its fl 10, and well when i do that all my patterns stretch out is there anyway of making the tempo change for just an instrument? like a drum build up that u can then fade off as a high synth?

  • thank you, excellent instructions

  • you have great tutorials. you are the man

  • nice ! helps me a lot :)

  • Does this work for if i want to change the tempo of a track not the whole song???

  • Thank you man, but it only kind of work for me, when i go to event and then a establish the tempo at for example 100, then i play it song mode and it goes back to 71, if i set it at 200 it goes back to 83. It just wont play at the tempo a set! And when i created an automation clip with this option and I set it at 100% the max speed it gives me is 180bpm. Any ideas why this would be?

  • This is far more accurate than just creating an automation clip; thanks for the tutorial.

  • is that work with acapellas without pitch changing ?

  • @juancubadj nope,it will change the pitch.. i did this and obviously did somethin wrong and screwed up the whole track, save it before yuo try.. i suggest

  • @EllioMusic I have the exact same problem :S if anyone could help, would be much appreciated.

  • YO I HAVE A PROBLEM IV BEEN TRYING TO FIND A VIDEO FOR AND HAVE NOT YET AND YOU SEEM TO BE THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE WATCHED A FEW OF UR VIDS AND LOVE WHAT YOU DOING ANYWAY IT ONE OF MY BEATS THE TEMPO CHANGES ON ITS OWN BUT ONLY IN ONE PATTERN LIKE AT THE HALFWAY MARK AND CANT FIG OUT HOW TO FIX IT

  • Man.. You are a genious!!!! You don't know how long I've been waiting to know that! thanks!!!

  • Thanks for all your help. Your tutorials helped me get over the hump. I used this tutorial for my last song. Keep up the good work! Could you make a tutorial on the best way to get ones videos seen? ;)

  • I can see this as very useful for switched suddenly into half-time, like on "Raise Your Weapon". Excellent tutorial.

  • thnak you gor help my friend

  • many, many thanks

  • Many, many thanks man. I have learned a great deal from your videos. Truly feel like I can use this program now.

  • thanks man. lol you are like the first source i go for music production help

  • thx very much...it was useful to me...... =)

  • Can you make a tutorial on how to change the pitch of a sample while not affecting the speed?

  • well since your videos have helped me the most so far haha. i got one question? is there anyway to have an automation clip tempo shift for a single pattern? instead of everything..?

  • thanks! you are awesome ! ( `~' )d

  • i've just been bombed by knowledge thanks bro thise helped me drastically. appreciate it.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! we lost our minds today trying to figure this out ourselves!

  • You're the best! Every time I'm confused about something, there's practically always a video on your channel that explains it clearly

  • thx bro u helped me alot

  • @nfxbeats Hey man great tutorial I was wondering if you could help me here, I want to make different patterns with different tempos is that possible? and if it is how can I do it.

    Thanks you

  • Yo i got some beats i produced up leme know if u fellin em!

  • this guy is a fucking boss, I encourage everyone to watch all his videos, AMAZING TEACHER :D:D:D:D:D

  • Excellent tutorial!

Quick question primarily aimed at you nfx, but also to anyone else that's able to answer. Is it possible to mix elements with different tempos in FL? I'm trying to mix a song that plays @ 85 bpm with a drum pattern that plays at 140 bpm. FL (obviously) slows the drums down when I change the bpm's, but I don't want it to do that.

I know I can record the elements separately and mx them later, but I'd like to do it in the same file. Possible?

  • @0ptikz What might help is this:

Select your sample so that the pop-up appears where you can adjust al the settings, then almost at the top, go to the "SMP" button and click on it.

Then, go to the "time-stretching" part of the pop-up and you'll see three buttons.

Go to the "Time" button, right click on it and select none.

Now you got to be able to do the things you want to do, if not, I did'nt understand your question right :-)

  • @0ptikz did you manage to achieve that? Im having a similar problem trying to do a tempo change in the middle of my song and it changes my other track's tempo as well, the answer above wasnt much help :(

  • @Guitarmajster hello, i've had the same problem and I just found out how to solve it !

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial. I wish I had seen this earlier. I had been using automation by itself, and it took me so long to fine tune it so that it would play at the exact tempo I wanted after the change. I had to extend the clip and move the edit points around in order to get the percentages to move the way I wanted them to. Your method is SO MUCH EASIER.

  • Thanks you, helped me alot :)

  • Your tutorials are the best keep it up

  • thanks man! it works!

  • yeah it works, many thanks!!!

  • i did this and it was fun. i never feel like the vids are a waste of time. thumbs up. :)

  • My only criticism about your tutorials is that you sometimes slowly state the obvious and it makes me extremely impatient.

  • Thanks alot ii had my beat n Guitar Strings but Had a Hard Time tryna Figure out the Tempo Thanks a Bunch Now ii Can Finish my Beat, Ur Videos Are the Best!!... =D

  • YOU ARE MY FL STUDIO BOB ROSS MAN!!"!!!! I GET THE SAME RELAXING EMOTION ITS A GREAT PLEASUR LISTENING AND WATCHING YOUR VIDS , 10-10!!!

  • Love your tuts really makes it easier to understand FL studio and makes one more enthusiastic about making music Thanks NFX... From S.A (South Africa)

  • thanks dude! now i can finish my song.

  • You are the man! id ignore or delete the stupid comments ppl make.

  • thnx dude thts just the tutorial i needed but wat i did just now is i created an automation clip but i just used tht the way it was because at the top were the tempo is i ajusted the clip and playd it a few times to see were the tempo was at the top

  • how to automate tempo for single instruments, like in drumkit i want only my hi hats to speed up.

  • hi i am using fl studio 5 in i try to the automation clip the same way but is impossible to do it cant you help me

  • What if I want to play my drums at 145 Bpm and the melody (Piano) 195 Bpm how can I do that? because if I change one pattern's Bpm all other patterns change also. (and if they ask to change all channels to the Bpm you chose and you chose no, they still change it) What should I do????

  • Thanks ALOT, man! This helped me so much! I was trying to get a loop to hit at the exact point I wanted. I got everything else to hit in the overall tempo, but this tiny little variation didn't hit and messed up everything. I was wondering how I could switch the tempo without having to change the tempo for the whole song, and by watching this I FINALLY got it right! Thanks again, man! DAMN! You helped me out so badly!!

  • Thank you this was very helpful, and you dont have an annoying voice like other people that do tutorials do :P

  • THANK YOU ! ^^

  • Pretty simple and easy to make, I was watching it because I thought it will fix my problem with strange audio clips and loops when automating. This one is good for beginners, but 5 stars for your work! :)

  • is there anyway you can play two or more pattern with different tempo but still play with its own tempo? for example.. i got 210 bpm from drum then 90 bpm on the piano. and i want to play the song both of them at the same time.. tnx

  • @avatarman82 ii need help on this too did you find out?.

  • @Devinem19 not yet... cant figure it out... right now im busy to set up my recording studio... so i have no chance to explore my fl studio.. sorry bro..

  • Can u make a tutorial on how to use the automation for just one instrumentt or we cantt ??

  • Thank you very much. Greatly appreciated, 5* and subscription. Thanks again

  • Thanks for the great tutorial!! I've always wondered the best way to do this! ;)

  • ty so much :p

  • Um, I just tried it and now I have a problem, even though your tutorial works, once I increase the tempo (using the autoclips) the pitch of the instruments change from their original pitch. What can I do to stop that from happening, so that the pitch isn't changed but ONLY the tempo is?

  • @JesusaloneisLord

I am wondering the same thing...

  • This is incredible, your tutorials are some of the best here - thanks so much!

    God Bless you!

  • you have no idea how much this helped me. thanks SO MUCH!!!! :D

  • man ur like the best fl studio tutorial person on youtube thnxx man ur the best.

  • Big thanks!

  • I've been trying to figure out a work around for that problem for awhile! This makes me feel stupid I didn't think of this but it DEFINITELY helped me out!

  • all of a sudden some of my patterns are filled with tons of blank space after the notes I had inserted and if I shorten the length of the number (top left of the pattern box) it only condences my notes to an even smaller portion of the window but still leaves all of the blank space afterwards-I have no idea how this happened-I just want my patterns to be the length of the notes I have writtten...please help before I shoot myself.

  • Doesnt work... Can't open ANY Events in a new window... -.-

    What can I do?

  • Problem solved! :)

  • What should I do if I created my beat, laid all the patterns out and every time I push play the tempo changes.

  • you are the best :)

  • This is great. I couldn't find this info in FL's help file. -Adam

  • This is exactly the thing i was looking for.

    Thank you.

  • thank you 4 the tut dude thats great :)

  • this is gotta be the best and eziest tutorial ever! this is sooooo powerful! wow thx a bunch

  • sweet thanks dude

  • Thanks for the tut man!

  • thank you very much

  • What a gentleman. I wish that more instructors were like this guy. He's thorough, polite, and very informative.

Thank you for your help and your time!

Warbeats' tutorials have helped me so much!

    :)

  • How do you bring up the menu under pattern 6 (the area that you do all the stuff in)?

  • thank you. I've always wanted to know how to change the tempo.

  • THANK YOU!

  • legandary words: whats up everybody nfx with another tutorial!

  • @nfxbeats I heard a few of boi 1da's tracks an effect that sound like the entire tracks slows down for a beat or 2 then speeds back up. It sounds like if a dj lightly places his hand on a record to slow it down a second then lets it go back to normal speed. Is this how you achieve that effect? By automating the tempo?

  • Man Thanks

  • Muchas Thank-yas!

  • You are great man. Keep helping out the people who are just starting out creating music. Your help is greatly appreciated

  • Ur Tutorials r great, I'm good in FL Studio thanx to u.. A good tutorial to do next would be how to make a stamp.. .I have been searching for different ways to make it and can't find shit

  • maybe u could use the speech synthesizer and mess around with it, or you could record your own voice like how i did.

  • THX MAN ! :))

    >5

  • Thanks! Just what I was looking for.

Two additional things I found useful:

Insert the current tempo by hitting Ctrl-I (or under Event Editor Options (upper left button) -> Edit -> Insert Current Controller Value).

Instead of dragging the mouse, use the pencil tool to set the values, then use the Interpolate tool (on the right in the Event Editor toolbar). Hold down the left button and drag between the two events for a linear interpolation or hold the right button for a spline curve.

  • HI! i subscribed to your videos .. they were really helpful... and seeing as you seem to know ur stuff i thought i'd ask you a question.. i am making a sort off trance mix of yirumas "the river flows in you".. the thing is i have a grand piano sound but i cant make the longer notes sustain... if set reveerb as a setting then all the notes mush together?.. what setting should i be using?:S

  • i'm sure the bad quality side effect isn't there when you realese the finished product as mp3 or wma, i often created something with some annoying sounds which came during the production but gone away when i realesed it.

thanks a lot for all your tutorials !

  • Another tutorial, yes! So glad you're still making these!

  • MAN, I LOVE YOU !!!!

  • Does it work only for pattern 1? I mean when i wanna modify only drums pattern.. not that everything's go faster ;P

  • very nice! i have been wondering how to do this for ages on fl studio. You legend cheers &)

  • that tape stop sound or loosing power effect

  • got a ? how doi implement that tape stop sound or loosing power effect into my song i heard it on young jeezys who dat i know theres a plugin for protools called d-fi but i want to know how to do it in fl studio

  • its just a bad sound quality side effect.. it shouldnt be there

  • yea i saw a couple of guys who did the who dat remake and did the power down thing. i asked but he says hes gonna make a tutorial vid on how to do it.

  • no homo

  • So... Basically you just showed us how to work with real values instead of percent. I can work way more exact this way. Thanks! If there is any more we should know about events, could you please show it?

  • Thank you.. this helped out a lot..

  • very useful dude!!!

  • when i crate an automatiin clip, it doesnt go to mah playlist, its like in a channel. Can sum1 help me to get it in the playlist?

  • It´s pretty much like with the piano roll. You have to select the channel that contains the automation clip, then click somewhere in the playlist to paste it in there.

  • Did you "add a channel" or did you "right click" the function you wanted to automate?

  • It also goes to ur playlist, just look around there, its either in the bottom or in the top

  • Thanks alot nfx. One of the best on youtube!

  • It's mad how some dilla tracks vary in tempo he more than likely used similar techniques.... I'm going to try it !

    You the man warbeats !

  • Your tutorials are awesome. You explain things well for people who don't have a background in music.

  • Another good tutorial... Keep doing your thing... it has helped me in mastering the FL sequencer... BleZz.

  • Whats wrong with your mic in this vid?

  • It's a bad conversion from youtube. :(

  • Thanks ! This is a very helpful video!

(And it was a perfect length video too!)

  • thanks!!!!!!!!

  • thanks very usefull but i really think that you can do all your videos in half the time

  • AYE NFX!!! seems to me you've gotten so popular with your tutorials you got some haters hatin' on yvid's!!! I say f=-k 'em cause the only reason they hate or could even know what you're doing is by looking at your video's right?? tell 'em BREATHE thanks for all the tutorials homey!!! oh yeah the "haters" are only making your vid's more popular (stupid)

  • hey thanx man this helped me a lot nice job

  • that's nice! thanks

  • Thanks for this.

  • cool NFX but i think there are some audio issues in the video I have never heard before

  • Uses people to get paid or whatever, he still provides a service for free that alot of people can benefit from. Obviously he knows what he's talking about and knows music. And anyway at the end of the day we do for the music and hopefully get paid for it one day.

  • This clown has NO album credits...He preys on little kids like you. Learn from a PRo not a guy who read a manual or copies other pros. Have you heard this guy's Music? You are a fool

  • I gues you would learn medicine from a guy who read a few books and hope to one day operate on someone? lol You fool

  • You are not learning how to be a music producer. you are learning how to use FL Studio. NFX is a fake and he knows it. He couldn't produce his way out of a wet paper bag. Just listen to his wack music. you are a sheep. you think you are getting something for free but you are getting pimped.lol

  • Obviously you have a hard on for this guy, and thats cool i get. Hate on brotha.

  • Wow you have some issues. Did I hurt your business? Have I damaged in you in some way that you can't live your life without spreading the hate?

For those that don't know know this dud sells FL studio training and thats his true motivation. Only hes too punk to admit his true ID. I have nothing to hide. Come out into the light David, it's warm and sunny out here. Get out from that rock.

  • @nfxbeats where that came from?? n who is david?

  • @nfxbeats WHO IS THIS GUY? I TRYD TO LOOK AT SOMETHING HE WROTE BUD NOTHING HERE , BTW ALWAYS GREAT APRITIATION FOR THE VERY NICE TUT,S

  • Not everything thats free is bad. Those producers you are talking about don't give a shit about other youtube folks, Thats where people like nfx come in.

  • LOL! I wish I worked for google.

    David,

I never claimed to be a professional EVER. I only show people things I know how to do. Hate it or love it, I'm true to what I do.

You can follow me around and hate, I can take it. I'll always post full length vids for people to use as a learning tool for free. No two minute teasers here.

  • @nfxbeats hey thanks for the vid. Hell with that david guy lmao. If he's this defensive about fl studio I sure dont want to talk to him about religion or politics! (old comment I know) I mean you do people a favor and post a tutorial and the guy acts you just unleashed hell. lmao. Carry on. I knew how to do a tempo change just went blank, needed a quick reminder and came across your method. Very useful for immediate changes. Thanks!

  • thanks alot man! Ive been wanting to learn this for so long now! :D

  • No one else noticed the high pitched noise triggered by other snare/speech/etc? Nice tut, but fix that please!

  • i noticed :p
