hey hoover the happy Goodmans had another brother named Bobby. Is he still alive? I noticed all the rest have gone on to be with the Lord.

Bobby died sometime in the late 90s I believe. Howard was the last of the 8 Goodman siblings to die.

God bless you for putting this up. I am sitting here tearing up because my family and I went to see the Goodmans back in the late 70's. It was so wonderful, my Mom and Dad loved the Goodmans, we always their albums going. My mom met Vestal at the concert. My mom passed away this Dec. and I hope she and Vestal are singing together, as my mother always wanted. this brings so many memories. Praise the Lord, and may he bless you.

I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Johnny Cook was one of my most favorite singers in the 70's and early 80's. I even named my only son after him. We became friends with him and his lovely wife. Unfortunatly we lost Johnny and my son Johnny about 10 years ago. Gospel music lost one of the best there was. i used to be in the funeral business and pentacostal women would wear their hair in whats they call the "rats". they would roll their into something like a halo very close to their head. after the funeral some would take it out and they would have hair clear down their back.

when my grandmother passed, they took her hair down and it was almost as long as she was tall. The church she was in gave pins to those who have not missed a sunday, and she had 38. I miss her when I watch these videos, I remember as a little boy she would listen to the Goodmans on Sunday before church

Vestal was born in Fyfe, Alabama, and lived much of her life in Alabama, Madisonville, Indiana, and in Nashville

Her biography "Vestal" is very inspiring. This woman's musical testimony brought me to Christ.

I always loved The Happy Goodmans along with the Hinsons. They were and always be my 2 favorite southern gospel singing groups. This music is what I grew up listening to as a child and still love to hear it instead of this stuff we have in our churches today. This music is the best!!!
