You see back then, if you checked women were supposed to turn a blind eye if their husband is cheating on them, if they don't and if they continued to stop it, then they were considered mad. What you are reading is the after effects of the pressures of her producing an heir or heirs, trying to please everyone, and her husband playing her until she broke.

Maybe lower her to the position of mistress, which Katherine wouldn't have stood for, since Henry was desperate to have a male heir and England during his reign was not the superpower it would become under Elizabeth I, he may've stayed married to her while not considering her as queen. the film call "juana la loca", I guess in english could be joanna the mad, but i don´t sure. But i must say same thing, is the best histori spanish film made. for the history and for the film is the same of the history.

yo creo que Juana preferia ser esposa y madre antes que Reina, nunca se imaginó la gran responsabilidad que caería sobre ella teniendo dos hermanos mayores (pese a poseer una gran cultura). Si perdió verdaderamente la razón sería tras el fallecimiento de su esposo y posterior encierro durante 46 años,pasó un verdadero infierno . Pero tuvo momentos de una gran lucidez como cuando se negó a tomar partido en contra de su propio hijo Carlos I en la revuelta de los comuneros.

Admiro su extraordinaria resistencia para soportar las humillaciones, vejaciones y malostratos que sufrió en manos de sus carceleros durante tanto tiempo cautiva.Juana fué mujer antes que Reina, amó y quiso ser amada de la misma manera pero terminó siendo una víctima de la ambición de los seres que más amaba.

No en favor de los alemanes, en tratar de frenar el luteranismo...yo lo que critico es la falta de pragmatismo, por defender una vision del cristianismo, en este caso catolico, dejó a España en ruinas, cuando de haberse administrado bien el oro España podria haber sido la nacion mas poderosa y rica del mundo.
Pero el oro de america iba directo a los banqueros de holanda o alemania.
En eso fue mucho mas inteligente Elizabeth Tudor, no malgasto dinero por causas religiosas y su pais prosperó

pues tienes razon , supongo que Carlos quiso suprimir las nuevas religiones sobre Europa, para poder tener como unica Iglesia Catolica, la mas poderosa, respaldada por France, Naploes y España, y asi poder mantener la supremasia sobre Europa, por otro lado las grandes masas territoriales que estaban bajo la corona de Castilla, no estaban completamente dominadas, perdio muchos recursos en ellas , que finalmenete no tenian la capacidad de controlar,

Me encanta Juana, aunque aún no he estudiado mucho sobre ella, mi profesor siempre dice que lo que pasaba es que era una mujer muy culta y adelantada a su época, y que no les interesaba a los hombres de su época tenerla en el poder (claro, porque a ella no la podían controlar)... It was written in their mother's will...Isabella was too trusting to think that Henry VII or her husband would keep to the marriage treaty for Katharine to Henry. She assumed the crown of England would go to Katherine and gave hers to Juana instead. Politically, I think she didn't want to hand over her lands of Castile to Ferdinand, and judging by his wily ways and a lust for power, who could blame her for putting a speedbump to her husband's scheming?Sanity aside, she'd have been a great Queen

Juana is usually translated as "Joan," but sometimes it's translated as "Jane" too. In the Low Countries she was known as "Johanna," too.

I couldn't find a subtitle version to download, but I know there is a version with subtitles. I love this film! I cried so much at the end, the scene were a little Catherine goes up to her is so sweet. Amazing video!
