I'm going out on a limb here... I didn't see the Drake Sword. I thought I saw it in your hand, but... You don't get the Drake Sword unless you kill ole Dragon here. Yet, when you got up there, there was no sword. Does this void your chance of getting the Drake Sword or what?
@THEbradM2010 You get the drake sword by shooting its tail with arrows, not killing it. I already did that at the beginning of the game. I was probably using a staff or something.

Won't work anymore with the newest patches (at least on PS3), and is a lame way anyway. You can kill him fair and square with enough fire protection on you; run up from the stairs, towards the door to the bonfire (do not go inside!) and hug the wall. From there, shoot arrows at him until he dies. Cover with a fire shield and heal when he occasionally roasts you. Needs lots of vitality, but I could do it towards the end of my 1st game.
It's bull, I did the glitch and yep it kills him and he disappears, but he comes back after a while. I wanna take him down in a honest way and slice his guts open but god know what armor you need. I'm at level 53

i did all you sayed... kill gargoyls, ring bell, lit bonfire, went up.. but i saw no dragon anymore. after going back the dragon was gone forever =-O after sitting on a bonfire too... hes gone :(
@FearsomeMudcrab you have t o shoot it from that spot, however if you shoot its tail from under the bridge it eventually drops the drake sword, a very useful starting item. It took me maybe 30 regular arrows (including misses) with a shortbow and just enough stats to use it to bring it down.
The dragon will be gone 9 og of 10 times when you climb the tower.. the moment you run back down and approach the gate he is suddently there again... its a well known glitch.. try googling it. It happens to some.. others are lucky and he is there all the time. I just ran up there from time to time and one time i finally got lucky and he was there... I play it on the 360

@101SuperJoker to get the sunlight helm you need to kill the dude that gave you the summon stone or something like that, he is in the beggining of the drake dragon bridge, just kill him and thats all... he isnt to hard to kill so dont worry
@josefranciscocool Yeah dude I have the same problem, when I'm on the bridge I can see the dragon but then when I go to the top of the tower he's not there then when I go back to the bridge again he's there!
The Dragon stays there throughout the game until you kill it .... i got give the Drake sword (i think :/) by shooting it 4 times 2 in the face and two in the tail :/ .... i've left it roaming for now ... might catch a ride ... with the Great big mahoosive crossbow from Anor Londo
@MrJawdon yes i did i was on some forums a minute ago and it seems that its possible you have to kill the butterfly first or back track from the gargoyle church some people say it flys away if you go under it so idk i just wanna kill the damn thing and so far no glitchs are working
@25legoman i just did this on a 360 so thats not the problem. also you need to have the darkroot basin bonfire as your home bonfire so after you sit there you need to head straight to the tower to kill the dragon without sitting at any other bonfires. if it still doesnt work after you tried that then i guess you just have to be lucky :P
@majorbeaver Some people can't seem to kill him this way. I was showing them what is past the dragon. Satisfy their taste buds, i wouldn't have spent as much time figuring it out if I knew what was behind.
@sizzlewump I saw the frame jump in the video. However it doesnt mean its bullshit. I did the exact same thing on my file. Only difference was it took substantially longer for it to "die" as I had enough time to make it down to the bonfire and out the gate before I got the souls for it. I did this BEFORE seeing this video, and I will attest It only took 1 arrow. Granted my game is 100% completely unpatched, so that MIGHT have something to do with it.
NOTE: For people saying the dragon disappears when you search from the tower. This happened to me as well, however I logged off and rebooted my console (Xbox 360, don't know if this works for PS3) without getting online. I loaded up the game in offline mode and sure enough, when I checked for the dragon again it was there. Something to try at least.

Don't be a little noob and try and figure it out, took me about 1 hour of internet searching etc after my friend told me that he did it. Which, I explained my findings in the video to save other ppl time.

@sizzlewump Go look up the other clips on youtube about this. From my understanding if you shoot the dragon enough times he will put his wings up and heal himself. I jumped from being on the top of the tower to climbing down the stairs because it saves some time for viewers AND it save me having to upload about another 20MB worth of the clip.

Has anyone tried to kill this dragon without using glitches and such, because I was able to in my first playthrough, but now i'm on new game plus and lets just say I am getting charred before I can even get a chance to hit it.
No this has not been patched. I just did it. It took me a while because the dragon wasn't showing up, but low and behold i kept checking and bingo! 10.000 souls
the dragon oneshot kill has been patched because its a glitch, the dragon tail sword thing hasnt been patched and i dont think that it will be patched, maybe the sword gets just nerfed
@MrJawdon its damn hard :D you need to stack fire resi, or the dragon simply oneshots you from time to time. you could also arrow the shit out of him. needs about 1000 normal arrows i think xD
@Happyending2112 you have the older version, if you conecnt your ps3 or xbox360 to the internet you will automaticly download the latest patch, and it will not be possible anymore

@Vaatiel When I killed it I wasn't sure if it was dead at first or just out of sight because I didn't get any souls. It took me so long to figure out how to kill him, which was one of the reasons I made the video was hopefully to save people some time.
It took a long time until I found out about the Darkroot Basin bonfire and then I went back and there it was so I thought I'd share. If people still can't see the dragon then at least they know what's behind it and decide if it's worth doing.
@logout010 the blacksmith usally sells them, basicly any merchant will sell you one, not sure if the blacksmith underneath the firelink shrine will sell you one but worth a try ( hes the black smith in the jail ) and hes the easiest one to get too
the church bell must have been rung, bonfire in the darkroot basin (before the valley of the drakes) must be lit. Before making this video mine wasn't there, i still have the clips of it lol, just keep trying, he will appear
@MrJawdon think they may of patched it, I tried this, just 5 minutes ago n after going to the bonfire (down in darkroot basin, in the cave/tunnel, before the elevator down to the valley of drakes) n then back to the dragon, It's still not there when I go up to the tower the dark knight used to lurk on. I also rang the bell after the garfoyle fight so I guess they patched it, this thing no longer works. guess we just have to wait till we're strong enough to take a few dragon blasts to the face
I jumped between the dragons legs and ran to the bon fire. If you do that the dragon will fly away :-) think im going to kill it in the next playtrough..
@115raygun Fought the Taurus Demon and went to the bridge where the Red Dragon is and ran to the middle and went down the right hand side and walked around and kicked the ladder down. it's a short cut which you unlock.
@DontFearGrim You can walk up the bridge from the middle and lure the dragon down and then fight it how ever you want. Though you would need a lot of health as its fire attacks hurt a lot. I know I have seen a video on youtube of someone doing it this way.
@Kingandhorse I bought a bunch of fireballs and lured him down the stairs then I ran up onto a ledge and threw them at him. I've also lured him to where the boar is normally and just fought him there where it is more open and I can keep a better distance.
@Kingandhorse easiest way is to just lead him down the stairs down the ladder and then take him past the rats and he will walk off the cliff.... bit nooby but it saves a fight :P
@Kingandhorse I used back stabs, just circle strafe him it's easy. Just lure him to the bottom where you go to the boar Mid-boss and do it there Thief class does alot of damage since daggers do about 60% more so just get a bandit dagger or a ghost knife and go to town on him works on the undead knights too.
If you want an easy and safe way to kill the greatsword black knight from the top of the tower, just lure him down the stairs and then into the fire, the same way you kill the demon boar

Go figure. It takes ~25 arrows just to get the Drake sword but only one arrow to abolish the dragon. Anyone who says this game is hard, try glitches!

Has anyone tried to kill this dragon without using glitches and such, because I was able to in my first playthrough, but now i'm on new game plus and lets just say I am getting charred before I can even get a chance to hit it.

They did patch it, but there's a perfect little sniper spot on the ledge just outside of where the rats are. Magic bow and arrows do pretty good.

No this has not been patched. I just did it. It took me a while because the dragon wasn't showing up, but low and behold i kept checking and bingo! 10.000 souls

the dragon oneshot kill has been patched because its a glitch, the dragon tail sword thing hasnt been patched and i dont think that it will be patched, maybe the sword gets just nerfed

@MrJawdon its damn hard :D you need to stack fire resi, or the dragon simply oneshots you from time to time. you could also arrow the shit out of him. needs about 1000 normal arrows i think xD

@Vaatiel When I killed it I wasn't sure if it was dead at first or just out of sight because I didn't get any souls. It took me so long to figure out how to kill him, which was one of the reasons I made the video was hopefully to save people some time.
It took a long time until I found out about the Darkroot Basin bonfire and then I went back and there it was so I thought I'd share. If people still can't see the dragon then at least they know what's behind it and decide if it's worth doing.

@logout010 the blacksmith usally sells them, basicly any merchant will sell you one, not sure if the blacksmith underneath the firelink shrine will sell you one but worth a try ( hes the black smith in the jail ) and hes the easiest one to get too

the church bell must have been rung, bonfire in the darkroot basin (before the valley of the drakes) must be lit. Before making this video mine wasn't there, i still have the clips of it lol, just keep trying, he will appear

@MrJawdon think they may of patched it, I tried this, just 5 minutes ago n after going to the bonfire (down in darkroot basin, in the cave/tunnel, before the elevator down to the valley of drakes) n then back to the dragon, It's still not there when I go up to the tower the dark knight used to lurk on. I also rang the bell after the garfoyle fight so I guess they patched it, this thing no longer works. guess we just have to wait till we're strong enough to take a few dragon blasts to the face

I jumped between the dragons legs and ran to the bon fire. If you do that the dragon will fly away :-) think im going to kill it in the next playtrough..

@115raygun Fought the Taurus Demon and went to the bridge where the Red Dragon is and ran to the middle and went down the right hand side and walked around and kicked the ladder down. it's a short cut which you unlock.

@DontFearGrim You can walk up the bridge from the middle and lure the dragon down and then fight it how ever you want. Though you would need a lot of health as its fire attacks hurt a lot. I know I have seen a video on youtube of someone doing it this way.

@Kingandhorse I bought a bunch of fireballs and lured him down the stairs then I ran up onto a ledge and threw them at him. I've also lured him to where the boar is normally and just fought him there where it is more open and I can keep a better distance.

@Kingandhorse easiest way is to just lead him down the stairs down the ladder and then take him past the rats and he will walk off the cliff.... bit nooby but it saves a fight :P

@Kingandhorse if the red dragon is still alive you can actually kite the knight to the bridge and let the dragon burn him :o that's how i did it :D

@Kingandhorse I used back stabs, just circle strafe him it's easy. Just lure him to the bottom where you go to the boar Mid-boss and do it there Thief class does alot of damage since daggers do about 60% more so just get a bandit dagger or a ghost knife and go to town on him works on the undead knights too.

If you want an easy and safe way to kill the greatsword black knight from the top of the tower, just lure him down the stairs and then into the fire, the same way you kill the demon boar
