To the person below who said Sean Connery is the best Bond. You rock. To the person below who said this movie is a piece of crap -- you suck and you are an idiot, moron, creton and a fool. Very fitting that Shirley Bassey sang the first theme song for a Bond movie that became a sensation (Goldfinger) and Sean Connery's last official Bond film.

Its funny because we learned in Geology that diamonds arent really forever. According to my professor, diamonds are chemically unstable so over time they will turn back to graphite.
@dnieves1418 I disagree. I think West had a sublimial message about Sierra Leone and the diamond trade. But I agree that most musicians are out for bread though!!!
Although I don't like the movie that much, it plays host to the greatest death scene in the whole saga - the scene in the desert where Kidd&Wint kill the diamond courier. The music and quotes in that scene are amazing, and they are my two favourite villians.
@kenrfc I agree, nobody could beat shirly bassey. I can't help but wonder why the music in this video was 'owned by kayne west' when it was shirley who made it?!?!
Kayne west did a rap mashup of this song "Diamonds of Sierra Leone" decrying the trade in Blood Diamonds. Its actually pretty good - and I am no fan of Rap.
Its a generational thing I guess. The Bond movie was done Waaay before we educated on things like Aparthied and Blood Diamonds. And even "homosexuals" weren't treated very nicely.
Think of the Kayne West version as what they might of used in a new Daniel Craig movie.
I like Pierce Brosnan because he was the bond I watched when I was little. Daniel Craig is badass, but hes different. I haven't seen any Timothy Dalton and only a few Roger Moores. I think i've seen ever Sean Connery.
Meh, take or leave this one. I actually think lazenby should have stayed on for this, crystalise his presence as bond a little more and have it be a direct sequel to OHMSS. Pity EON caved into being quite literally persecuted for trying a new, more serious approach to connery's bond and just said 'WE NEED CONNERY BACK NO MATTER WHAT!'
@madcapoperator i agree, and i don't know if it was just me but Connery didn't seem to age too well at this time. He's 40 in this movie but he looked like he was pushing 50.
yeah its coz he didnt take this film seriously enough after you only live twice he got out of shape and started to age he prob stopped working out or going to the gym and starting eating too many cakes that it made him look older he even looks a few grey hairs
@pjdr if you were wondering what it was, then perhaps my answer can clearify. Sean Connery had certain troubles that year, one of them was losing his hair and becoming gray, wrinkles those kinds of trouble(some men have that at 40). So the staff made him a hair piece, to much make-up and it was crap. That's why looks aged.
@madcapoperator that's not quite true, lazenby was actually offered to come back. but he declined. moore was still engaged to that spy tv show. and connery said yeah i'll do it. lazenby changed his mind but connery ahd already signed the contract. and it gave a good effect of james bond coming back with a vengance. it was like the old cold merciless single bond back
he wasnt the best ever he wasnt as close too the novels as some of the other actors too play bond just coz he was the first one dosent mean hes the best
@avril12346 Well that is just “shocking” just “positively shocking” to know thanks for sharing I share the same belief he is the original and played it so well during the years.
Yes, my favorite is Roger Moore, although I do like Timothy Dalton's exotic good looks and he's tall as well, over 6 feet, that is a definite plus....LOL
For being the one who performed the role of Bond in the most (legitimate) Bond movies. Sir Moore had it seven times, Sir Connery six (not counting NSNA).
Never Say Never was an adaptation of Thunderball. Some of the intellectual property rights belonged to Kevin McClory but the Bond theme music, which was not used in Never Say Never were exclusive to Danjaq, the company owned by the producer of the "original" Bond films, Cubby Broccoli.
I've recently started watching all the bonds films from the beginning, I'm only up to thunder ball now but I already fear the end of Sean Connery as Bond, ehe can't help it.

Gotta love Tiffany...! ...some Connery fans consider Diamonds to be his worst Bond film..!
sexyblondeuk2012 2 years ago
The worst was Never Say Never Again: a way too modernized remake of Thunderball. the only thing I liked about that movie was the video game duel.
Daniel4646 2 years ago
...yes, Never say Never was a huge disappointment. But remember, it's not a "true" Bond film...
sexyblondeuk2012 2 years ago
Yeah, I got to think so when I began to view the JB movies more soberly. Moore still holds the record.
Daniel4646 2 years ago
...I'm sorry; you're saying that Sir Roger Moore holds the record for what exactly?
sexyblondeuk2012 2 years ago
For being the one who performed the role of Bond in the most (legitimate) Bond movies. Sir Moore had it seven times, Sir Connery six (not counting NSNA).
Daniel4646 2 years ago
...oh, yes you're absolutely right. And what is your favorite Bond film?
sexyblondeuk2012 2 years ago
Got several of them, mostly for certain key elements:
*The Spy Who Loved Me: Jaws, Barbara Bach, the big battle inside the ship
*Moonraker: Jaws, Corinne Clery, the setting in space
*Diamonds Are Forever: Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd
*A View To A Kill: the title song
*Thunderball: the underwater battle
*You Only Live Twice: the aerial battle with Little Nellie
Daniel4646 2 years ago
...all right. Let me put it another way... : -)... If you were on a desert island and you were allowed ONE Bond film in
your dvd collection, which ONE Bond film would it be?
sexyblondeuk2012 2 years ago
mmmh ... most likely The Spy Who Loved Me.
