@AntipodeanAl Thanks for your comment. The carbs are set up well and so don't need regularly maintenance.
The most important bit is to make sure that they are mechanically balanced and that the linkages are of good quality and don't move around. Mine are rose jointed which makes a huge difference to reliability and drive-ability.
Beautiful torana mate, an original classic is always timeless. The crow cam your running is quite large, what is it like to drive in traffic with the manual behind it? The reason i ask is because i can decide if i should put an Aussie 4spd or a trimatic in my LJ. An insight would be gr8ly appreciated.
@AustCitzn251 Thanks. The cam isn't really that large and is quite streetable. The shorter 3.55 diff makes a difference, much easier to get off the mark. I know of some guys using trimatics with bigger stall convertors and these certainly make them easier to drive. Gotta love a manual though :-)
The inlet manifold is a ported Warneford three piece, not he original XU1 type.
I've seen the Redline ones used on many Group NC cars so they must be OK. The longer runner type (like mine and the Seton ones) are apparently better for torque output.
You can see pictures of the manifold via my Photobucket album. Use the Photobucket search function, select a People search and then search for '70XU1'
I tried to post a link to some pictures for you but Youtube wouldn't allow it. There are a couple of close up photos of the manifold in the default album.
a straight six is so beautiful

heart warming vehicle, thanks. Can you shed some light on your PCV box setup? it doesn't look like there's any vacume to the crank case?

@thorleyphotography No vacuum is used, crankcase is just vented to atmosphere.

Is the car tangerine???? It looks great. I had a 73 LJ xu1 twenty years ago in Salamanca red. You couldn't give them away back then.
A mate of mine sold a full matching numbers 72 lj xu1 in 1994 for $6500 and he struggled to get that for it. Awesome cars.

Yes, its Tangerine. I agree about them being awesome - lots of power plus lightweight car = fun :-)

What inlet manifold are you running?
Apparently the redline one isn't supposed to be any good compared to the original.
