The Kontinental Hockey League doesn't have a salary cap so they can pay the players higher since they're funded by massive billionaire companies

The north american style will always be in my heart. I grew up playing in it and respecting it and because of it I can play within any style I prefer the toughness of the pre lockout NHL over the new NHL as well as anything I have seen so far from the KHL

KHL arenas only hold anywhere from 2,000-13,000 seats. I agree with Flamesfan7, and i too find it hard for them to take the NHL

Without a monster TV contract or 20,000 seat arenas, I'm still finding it hard to see them overtaking the NHL.

Adding some big clubs from Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Czecho, and taking out some of the smaller Russian teams will help the universal appeal of this league in the future.

Many players who are playing in AHL and waiting when they will get picked out to NHL - meanwhile they are paid very small salaries... So I think there will be players from North America too and if not it's not such a big deal because there will be players from all of the Europe and from Asia too.
