  • really informative and interesting

  • Danny Boyle in his films has a message about life

and Darren afronsky makes symbolical films. Both the best directors today, they don't make to earn money but they make to touch and influence people.

  • I would like to go to the pub with Danny Boyle, nice bloke.

  • i want to get in between them and rub Valvoline all over my body and act like a slug ( thats the only proven way to siphon talent)

  • R.E.S.P.E.C.T..

  • My two favourite contemporary directors.

  • and he sounds like young Harold Ramis, oooor Howard Stern?

  • darren looks like david aquette

  • So far I've seen Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, The Fountain now I just need to watch the final movie, the Black Swan XD He is the best director ever!

  • @kenzoi haha i just was thinkin the same thing...Boyle was like " no video playback???"....its seroiusly impossible to comprehend how much harder that is, especially by choice

  • I think Sunshine is a very underrated science fiction film. I remember seeing it at the cinema and being completely blown away by it. A great film.

  • Thumbs up if you think Christopher Nolan is overrated.

  • @TzipKing what is wrong with you. Nolan too has made masterpieces of his own. There are better and more intelligent ways to prostitute yourself for a thumbs up rating mate. Did you forget Memento, Insomnia, Inception?

  • @slutbunwallah I liked Memento, but he's too clinical for me. Problem?

  • @TzipKing No problem, just when you stated that he is too clinical "for you" hence an opinion. Seems Ironic for an opinion to want thumbs up.

  • @slutbunwallah Notice how I asked for thumbs up from people who share the same opinion? if you don't like it you're welcome to go to some Nolan fanboy forum and mingle with people who share YOUR opinion.

  • @TzipKing Sure, you win this argument. I shall let you get back to asking for thumbs up over the internet.

  • @TzipKing Obviously no one agrees with you. Its been a month and not a single thumb. Christopher is easily one of my favorite directors because he knows what he is doing, can have twist endings, his editing style is really nice, he knows how and when to make a cut or a fade, there are so many things I like about him but by far the greatest thing about Nolan is that he has written every film he directed. So not only does he know how to direct, he also knows how to write a good story to start.

  • @AVSurks you mean the two guys who saw the video in the last month? yes that means a lot.

Dude, get a life and learn to care about more than my opinion which incidentally hasn't changed.

  • @TzipKing Lol

Dude get a life and quit trying to sounds tough over the internet it makes you look like a fag.

  • @AVSurks Wow, you're still going on about this? it's really kind of sad that you have to go back and dig up some old opinion of mine and resort to childish name calling. I'm trying to be nice but I have better things to do.

    #getoverit

  • @TzipKing Its really kind of sad that you directly call out one of the years greatest directors and says he sucks and then when someone confronts you on your opinion you back down right away.

    #learn2standupforsomething

  • @AVSurks I forgive you.

  • @TzipKing One Love Bro! :D

  • I hope Darren does not make The Wolverine to brutal like his other films. His movies get to crazy in some scenes which make you run for cover. I know he'll do well.

  • @Tyronor he quit The Wolverine

  • @coolbrett Darn! I read about that. Oh well. He could have done it another time and waited for another chance.

  • both excellent, although for me DA is slkightly better

  • Aronofsky is much better. Though both of them are overrated.

  • @calmsnowfall both are overrated, and who are examples of great film makers than?

  • @WhereisZEMBLA

Paul Thomas Anderson, if you want someone young.

  • @calmsnowfall I agree completely as he is my favorite filmmaker but I dont think that takes away from these two in any sense especially Darren Aronofsky who is a master of film especially for the young filmmakers of today. Its not like there can only be one great filmmaker and the rest are rubbish especially since your dissing two really great film makers with there own style and not just paycheck filmmakers

  • I admit Sunshine isnt danny's greatest film, and the surprise twist in genre that you mention is a matter of taste. However, I think that its unfair that it was received badly when other, worser films, take alot more money. I rather watch a bad danny boyle film than a transformers film

  • I have the highest respect for both these directors Trainspotting and Requiem for a Dream are both awesome movies

  • hoping the best for 127 hours and balck swan at the academy!

  • Sunshine is an AMAZING film.

  • Favorite Directors

    1. Danny Boyle

    2. Martin Scorsese

    3. Darren Aronofsky

  • They're among the best directors of all times. I love the editing in their movies and how they can pull the best out of their actors. This is true expecially for Aronofsky: the acting is always superb in his movies.

  • i can happily say that boyle and aronofsky are my two fav directors still working today, if not my favourite of all time. imo they are the most original and unique in the industry, and their most recent films black swan and 127 hours are both brilliant

it would make my day if either one of these guys wins the oscar this year, and if not i hope they still carry on making great movies

  • 100% danny boyle is the best director :D <3

  • this is so much fun, darren is such a great director, methodical and focus, he always knows what he wants.

  • I have nothing but respect for both these directors.

I have seen Requiem, Pi, fountain and just watched black swan last night.

Black swan is one of the top 10 best movie i have ever seen, and Requirem is to date the scariest movie i have seen. I din't even flintched at "it" or "paranomal activities" but really have to talk me into seeing Requiem for a long time before a do it.

Danny boyle has a way of making ordinary scenes very beautiful and Aronifsky kan make is dark, hard and true.

  • @thebadwolf89 very well said, Paranormal Activity is an overrated shit to be honest.

  • Aronofsky is dreamy and emotional, and its good and all, but the movies themselves are never that good. Its bad when Requiem is someone's best movie (although i havnt seen Black Swan)

  • Black Swan and 127 Hours, both my favorite films from 2010.

  • darren is a god. Love him. Hope one day I meet him.

  • Love Boyle but I hate Slumdog, one of the most overrated films I've ever seen. hard to believe he directed it.

  • It's so hard to explain the styles of these two film makers. Danny is so kinetic and energetic and Aronofsky is dream-like, inteligent, and mental. The closest these two stepped toward each other is Sunshine and The Fountain. But either way, influences for sure.

  • Danny Boyle's SUNSHINE and Darren Aronofsky's BLACK SWAN were just awesome! I know some say their sense of style can be dark, but I think in this day and age it's quite fair to shed as much darkness as there is light to grip the audience. These two directors seem to pull that off quite well.

  • @rapist41 Yea dannys the only one who won an oscar...

    ...until Black Swan.

  • Q to Danny Boyle 'Why did you make that piece of shit movie '127 hours'?

A- Because I know America is stupid enough to go see it.

  • Why dont they team up and make a kick-ass movie?

  • Hopefully 127 Hours and Black Swan will become a hit together. Good luck to those gentlemen!

  • danny boyle is an oscar winner thus making him better ygtfuyjhikhiygfyugigyyt sera mo noylezxrty hbjgcv hgfvhgv huty7fc htuik

  • why are people on here constantly arguing about who is the better filmmaker ??? seriously, they are both brilliant so why not leave it at that ?. it's not a competition when you're making art.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 Sometimes its in everyone's genes to want to compete with someone. It may not be revealed pubicly, but inside everyone, they want to compete with something because it can challenge them to make something better and more interesting.

  • @andywhorehall

But Trainspotting is not better than Requiem for a Dream.

  • but trainspotting is more original although its an adaptation

  • Black swan - standing ovation in the venice film festival

127 hours - As gut-wrenching as it is inspirational

Lets see the result in the 83'rd academy awards & the other fucking award cerimonies lads..

    ;-)

  • Darren is such a talented lad who got the ranklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal. And danny after his school started with Joint Stock Theatre Company. Both are from different environment blokes.Come on stop comparing & cherish every second of their creation. They both are our gifts. Just keep admiring their work

  • Comment removed

  • What is the point in comparing lads. These blokes ve made it to the business & we ve not....Just because we all own an account in you tube to watch random videos & leaf through the posts we cant become the fucking jury members to comments on these beautiful directors.

  • It's kind of hard to comparre these two in terms of quality. Boyle is a kinetic director interested in defying genre conventions. Aronofsky is interested in different styles of direction and exploring new ideas. Boyle is brilliant at what he does, although the third act of 'Sunshine' isn't great and 'The Beach' wasn't exactly the best, but 'Trainspotting, 28 days Later, Slumdog Millionaire and Shallow Grave are great. Aronofsky has given us Pi, Requiem for a Dream, the Fountain and the Wrestler.

  • @TheDavelogan i am not saying this in a cynical way but why did you think sunshine wasnt that great? I just purely want to know your opinion.

    I personally really liked it

  • @harrinski Sorry they didn't give me enough space to explain in depth. I liked it but I felt like the shift in story in the third act was too far removed from the rest of the film. This works in '28 Days Later' but it didn't work in 'Sunshine'. It's a good film up until that point. And it is handled well but the transition to it was a bit to sloppy for me.

  • @harrinski It was an awesome movie until the third act when they find the other spaceship. They had so many other problems and then oh wait SPOILERS!!!!!! It turns into a B horror movie with a really cliched point of view. I love danny boyle's movies but sunshine could have been better.

  • @kenzoi haha... The fountain better than sunshine? Really?

  • Boyle better than Aronofsky?!!!!!!! Requiem for a Dream alone is way ahead of what Boyle's ever done. You can learn to be very good at what you do but no one teaches you to be a genius. You either are or aren't. Aronofsky IS. Period.

  • thumbs up if you think Aronofsky is better then Boyle.

  • Boyle is great, but Aronofsky is a genius.

  • @AnimeIntroStyles4

    I love Danny Boyle

But Darren has raised the bar on cinema sooo freakin much

People just have their eyes on him and where he's going to go next

  • Couldn't get into Sunshine, love all of Aronofsky's films, though.

  • kubricks better

  • @narujoe93 but I heard that he wasn't available for the interview...

  • I love trainspotting and EVEN the beach but I'm sorry, aronofsky is miles better just for requiem on it's own.

  • @TheEvilelvis89 requiem doesn't even compare to trainspotting.

  • the fountain is a modern citizen kane

  • Mm...I love Trainspotting

But Slumdog Millionaire was just City of God on Hollywood crack (cause of the whole completely unrealistic happy ending)

But Mr. Aronofsky is wonderful! =D

  • Sunshine, The Fountain ... no more words. Two of the most moving films in the last decade. Though Trainspotting, Pi, 28 Days Later, Requiem for a Dream ... if only Fincher was involved. These guys actually prove that some artists still work in film. Awesome.

  • does all of aronofsky's films use similar filming techniques? example, in "the wrestler" the camera follows him from behind a lot.

  • no way. The Wrestler and Requiem are shot in completely different ways. Thats what I love about Aronofsky, he only ever does whats right for whats going on in the movie. Theres no one rule that he follows or anything. One technique might not always work for every scene, or even the type of movie.

  • Yeah, they are both artists. I love em both! They are so switched on and know exactly what we want in movies. They can take the most basic stories (like The Wrestler) and make it very interesting and keep us on the edge of our seats

  • th1s m0vie is now watchable q @ MOOV ZON,COM Google the above link

  • these are great videos. this should happen more. two geniuses interviewing eachother rather than some shiny tv presenter who pretends to know stuff...

  • favorites form these guys are Pi and Trainspotting. They were really influential to me. danny boyle and aronofsky are my favorite directors

  • Man, I just saw the title for this video and instantly had an orgasm. Two of my favorite directors of all time chatting it up? *blows load*

  • I couldn't agree more. WAAAY too much genius for one room.

  • @FunkyMonk00 i concur. dunno what an acid trip feels like, but that certainly must've come close

  • @siminho86 I do, and although i was stokedddd, to see this, it feels nothing like an acid trip, imagine more like a cross between the fountain and pi and the beach, that's more what it feels like.

  • @FunkyMonk00 orgasm? you must be gay.

  • @FunkyMonk00 If these blokes are actually your favourite directors OF ALL TIME, well, I suggest you go see a doctor. Or a few more movies...

  • @jerk0009 They're not my favorite directors of all time, but they are two of my favorites that are working today. I suggest you go see a professor of English, or read a few more books, to better understand what people express through the English language.

  • @FunkyMonk00 Okay, thank you for your help!

  • @FunkyMonk00 that was exactly the same feeling I had! Perfect

  • The Fountain is a masterpiece. The Wrestler was better than Slumdog Millionaire.

  • You should watch Pi, one of my favourite character studies, and my favourite Aronofsky film.

  • slumdog millionaire was a pieceof shit

  • exactly! why does no one understand this

  • @ouro74 I agree, but i think sunshine was better than the wrestler ;)

  • @ouro74 I accidentally clicked "vote down" instead of "vote up". I have to tell you I completely agree. "The Fountain" is and will always be the best film I have ever seen hands down, no contest THE BEST. It's brilliant on every level of the film-making craft.

  • @actionfiguremovies85 i didnt understand some parts of that movie. If i understood everything i might think it was awsome.

  • @ouro74 I honestly think "The Fountain" was a really complex movie for my taste. Me wanting to be a filmmaker and studying the works of the big name filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, Alfred Hitchcock, Oliver Stone, Clint Eastwood, Christopher Nolan, etc., I heard of Darren Aronofsky and gave him a try, starting with "The Fountain." I love how the movie was made (in terms of effects and overall story), but it was too complex and I didn't like it. I did see "Black Swan" and absolutely love it.

  • @Andybato Yeah, I'm not a film expert, but I have to agree with you. The Fountain had a lot of ambition and some interesting concepts, but it just felt muddled, as if it wasn't really sure what it wanted to do with itself and collapsed under the weight of its own overworked premise. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but that's my opinion.

  • @Onyxmyr I agree with you on not calling it a masterpiece. I'm not even a film expert myself! I just teach myself about film making by reading books and watching the movies. The movie overall is just too complex. Have you watch any other Darren Aronofsky movies? Other than "The Fountain," I watched Black Swan.

  • @Andybato I've seen Requiem and Pi, I haven't seen Black Swan yet but I think I might this weekend.

  • @Onyxmyr How is Requiem and Pi? :o

I have only seen very few copies of those dvds around from where I live.

  • @Andybato Pi is very, very good. Requiem for a dream is a freakin masterpiece.

  • @ToBaer Thanks for the enthusiasms of the two films. I will check (or in this case, buy) them out myself :)

  • @Andybato Both are excellent movies; Requiem is a must see though, it's just incredible (as long as you can stomach it).

  • @ouro74 And 127 hours is way better than those two movies.

  • @ouro74 Slumdog is incredibly overrated... the first half of the film is great - the child performers were the saving grace. You're right too about The Fountain - EPIC!

  • @ouro74

You just hate Boyle because you are American and he is British -_-

Get over it...Some people like Boyle and some people like Aronofsky

  • my two fav directors. True inspirations

  • I can't wait for when James Lipton bring each of them for a sit down interview on Inside the Actor's Studio....

  • two of my favourites

  • ... "Well, you're such a great person and director, I really think people should see you as set apart from the rest".

"I don't think I could ask for a better pairing... Well, see ya tomorrow D!"

    "Bye!"

    D1 hangs up...

    "SUCKER!" ;]

    x hehe.

  • I love these two!! Such wonderful directors! But I do wonder if they called each other the night before?... In my little world, I imagine the conversation to have been something like this:

    "Hey Big D"

    "Hey D!"

    "D... you're the man"

    "No, seriously, D, you are"

"You flatter me! Say, Big D... what are you wearing tomorrow, I don't want us to look the same."

"Classic jeans, black shirt, grey jacket... Hey D, I really appreciate your thought!"

    TO BE CONTINUED...

  • some of my favorite directors include,danny boyle, darren aronofsky,martin scorsese,oliver stone,david fincher,sergio leone,& alfred hitchcock

  • its great to see these guys have a nice old chat about their films, really interesting interview

  • 2 guys wanking each other off on camera.

  • 2 artists wanking each other off on camera

  • Those kids' parents are pieces of crap!

They have deliberately refused housing in an attempt to extort more money out of Danny and the filmakers thru the press.

The govt probably bulldozed their homes to force them to take the free govt homes that were offered.

Rubina Ali's father tried to SELL HER! Yeah, Danny Boyle is the problem...

  • difficult to comment as volume was v low & wordings couldnt be deciphered as in previous videos where they were loud 7 clear

  • you guys seem to forget the most influential director of american cinema.D.W Griffith. With him directors like Scorcese would never have been able to find their inspiration. He set the basis for the most known techniques in directing.Learn the history of Hollywood first and then choose the most influential directors.I am not saying that any of these directors are important but i want to outline that there are many other directors that have been forgotten by time not exceeded by the others talent

  • david cronenberg is also really good

  • ill go for Dreyer, Bresson, Tarkovsky, Ozu Bela tarr david lynch Jarmusch Kaurismaki Pasolini Greenaway.. Boyle and arosnosfky have to learn from the masters...
  • Downright silly to have Spielberg that low on the list. Eliminate his big budget flicks and popcorn movies and he's still ridiculously accomplished. Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Close Encounter's? Blah, to each his own.

  • 9 out of 10 directors i agree with jesus. i'd replace anderson with kurosawa......or fritz lang.....

  • 11. Tim Burton

    12. Christopher Nolan

    13. David Fincher

    14. Steven Spielberg

    15. Woody Allen

    16. Darren Aronofsky

    17. Clint Eastwood.

  • Two of my favorite directors Darren's movies 1. Requiem for a Dream 2. The Wrestler 3. Pi 4. The Fountain Danny's 1. Trainspotting 2. Slumdog Millionaire 3. 28 Days Later 4. Millions
  • Danny Boyle is Legend

  • Both filmmakers have influenced me personally, I just recently saw Requiem- For a Dream for the first time; and ranks to be the most disturbing film I've ever visually seen. Aronofsky essentially brought the best out of Ellen Burstyn. These are the most influencial filmmakers to me personally. 1. Stanley Kubrick 2. Martin Scorsese 3. Alfred Hitchcock 4. Francis Ford Coppola 5. Paul Thomas Anderson 6. Roman Polanski 7. Sidney Lumet 8. Gus Van Sant 9. Joel & Ethan Coen 10. Spike Lee
  • Danny and Darron have a lot of common.

Danny made Trainspotting and Darren made Requiem for a dream, 2 of the best films about drugs ever made.

  • except Trainspotting is a comedy (from what i've heard. i never saw it) and Requiem for a Dream is the most INTENSE DEPRESSING drama ever.

    a tad diffferent

  • it isn't fully a comedy. The characters may be a bit funny, but the entire idea behind it is serious, and dark.

Why would you say they're different if you havent even seen one of them?

  • Perhaps years from now Boyle and Aronofsky will be classifed in the same category as those men. But for now, no way.

I also love this generation of directors, for sure. If I were a betting man, I'd say that guys like Fincher, Aronofsky, and Boyle will be in that list, but they haven't came close to it yet.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Both are great directors...but they are not the two best directors ever. Still, great directors.

  • @LumpyAdams

    Who are ur top directors?

  • Kubrick, Hitchcock, Speilberg. Ford, Spielberg, Scorsese, Polanksi, Eastwood...those are some of my favorites.

Like I said, Boyle and Aronofsky are very good directors, but they haven't earned nowhere near that status as being "2 best ever directors" or even in the top 10.

  • @Lumpy Adams

    Good list.

But I guess I happen to disagree because I'm more of a fan of the "new generation" of directors.

Which include Aronofsky, Fincher, Tarantino, Anderson, Spike Jonze, et cetera.

  • Well there's a difference when it comes to "the best" directors, and "favorite" directors.

Claiming that Aronofsky and Boyle are the 2 best directors ever is not only a stretch, but pretty impossible.

To Aronofsky's credit, he's only directed 2 films that most would consider a masterpiece. Pi and The Fountain (although I enjoyed them) won't be remembered.

Same with Boyle. He's directed some good films, but his track record isn't nearly as impressive as the directors I mentioned.

  • Well, The Fountain is in my top 5, but it was great talking to you. Thanks for your thoughts.

  • So you believe Aronofsky is the best director ever because of one film? Not even an acclaimed one at that. The Fountain was very hit or miss and will most certainly be forgotten years from now, unlike Hitchcock, Kubrick, or Ford that have made multiple films that are timeless classics.

  • Well, my favorite director doesn't happen to be Aronofsky, but I believe The Fountain, Requiem, and The Wrestler were perfect (haven't seen Pie yet). I don't care if a film is critically acclaimed at all. Fight Club wasn't at first, neither was Clockwork Orange. It took time for them. I have certain set standards that all films must adhere to for me to truly appreciate them.

Believe me, I am not saying I don't love me some Kubrick, I do.

Just prefer the things being done in this day and age.

  • What do you think about Paul Thomas Anderson?

There Will Be Blood is really really great.

Directors like Paul, Aronofsky, Fincher and Boyle, they are getting better and better with each films they made. Hope that they will make "timeless classics" that made them our generation of great film makers.

  • Oh, I definately agree.

Paul Thomas Anderson is definately one of the greats. Magnolia is just amazing to me.

  • Speilberg AND Spielberg, huh?

    dimwit.

  • Yeah, because typographical errors never happen.

You didn't capitalize dimwit, by the way.

    Dimwit.

  • *yawn*

even your reply has been appropriated from other sources.

  • You're still not capitalizing. Are we done being typographical and grammar nazi's?

  • wow.

my two favorite directors sitting right next to each other.

    amazing.

  • ME TOOOOOOO

  • The 2 titans of the year, albeit Danny is much mightier than any director this year (even Christopher Nolan).

  • We leave the theatre so happy at the end...we promptly forget how these children actually live! Heartbreaking..........

  • the film was like a slap on my face! damn, occidental audience is overprotected, this film shows us how the real world people are struggling! we got to stop complaigning! our situation aint so bad!

  • zomg

the two best directors ever in the same room!!!11!1!!

    WAT

  • I'm a huge fan of them. The Fountain blew my mind!

  • LOL great i loved this

  • nextdirector123, go watch some other Aronofsky films. The guy is a genius.

  • uhmmm

    what?

    ..

  • yeh i know what you mean... i wonder how directors acquire that air of genius around them

  • hey nextdirector

    youre a fucking RETARD

if you dont think Aronofsky is a great director

  • sounds like you know what youre talking about...by the way "THE WRESTLER director" is darren aronofsky...learn your shit nextdirector

  • Two amazing directors...

  • whoa, they're friends?

I always thought that Directors were competitive and tryin' to stab each other and such...

  • i think these two men are too genius to be like that:P

  • They help each other out alot they mentor and support each other
