Thanks for helping keep Seawind in peoples ears all these years. Our remixed version of this CD, the GOOD version (Steve Sikes mixing engineer) (not the Japanese version) is available only on our website. The songs are also available on iTunes. We're just entering into the social-media network and again appreciate the support.
Saw these guys 4 or 5 times in a little club on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City called the Baked Potato. Out of the blue I just remembered them. Fantastic.
i own both the albums, they made my teenage years so much more enjoyable! and the worst thing was when they were exchanging hands at £100 each i never sold the m nowdays i couldnt give them away! but i never wouldX
i remember seeing them (seawind) at howard rumsey's concerts by the sea in 1978 back when it was in a small basement on redondo pier. nam that was cool to be so close and enjoying the great music.
I wonder why Quincy didn't use Tower or Chicago when he was putting out some of the baddest music on the planet...hmmm...a never ending argument I suppose but fun to perpetuate.
My Big Momma and Big Daddy used to BUMP this!!! Imagine: Saturday mornings in Inglwood CA, the smell of bacon and maple syrup in the air, the buzzing of motorbikes racing the "dips" in the distance, the fond scent of Marlboro Reds, and the Awesome jazz stylings of Seawind coming from Big Daddy's stereo in the living room. Wow! Those were the days...
I loved Seawind! We essentially made them in Detroit on my ex-radio station, WJZZ. Unfortunately, Pauline left Bob Wilson and the band to run off with Jim Messina (Buffalo Springfield, Poco), as I recall. As of 2002, they apparently (with Pauline ) launched a new album. I wish them the best. They really were SO wonderful 30 years ago!
Kim Hutchcroft leads the worship ministry at my church, still playing and sounding great! Oddly enough I've been working with Messina since '05 too. Pauline came to our show a few years back and sat in....
Dude, you have NO idea who these guys are?! Do a Google some time on Jerry Hey, Larry Williams and Kim Hutchcroft. They were the SEAWIND HORNS and have played on more albums than Chicago and TOP combined!
The band indeed is mixing their newest CD. Woodwind ace Kim Hutchroft heads the worship ministry @ The Packinghouse church in Redlands, California. It's always an honor to play my horn in front of him as he and the band were heroes of mine too in the wonderful 70's. Bud Nunez has also been out to the church to add his tasty guitar to the worship!
dang!!!!!!!! I Dont know what to say about this song. So many memories as a kid listening to this song on the way somewhere far away. Didn't understand how great this music was until i grew and now love it all.
For all of you Seawind lovers they are doing a reunion CD. I can tell you first hand you will not be disappointed. The cut "Free" is awesome with more of a jazz beat than the first. Worth the wait.
i dont know where you got the video images but this band and this song in particular shaped my life to a large degree. Listening to it again after so many years I realized just how. I named my daughter Tiana which is morning star in Cree and I was a master falconer and my daughter loves dolphins go figure. I am gona send Blue a link to this he manages the group. Awesome job
Beyond awesome! Love Seawind from their start in Hawaii. Still have the vinyl and cassettes. Pauline has such an amazing voice and Seawind is to talented. You did a great job with the visuals, the hawk and the dolphins. Most excellent post Jazzyman!
Ever have a tune just pop up in your head and you just can't remember who did the tune..well Eureka! I found it..Free..Excellent. Thanks for posting this brings back fond fond memories :-)
I think for jazz listeners this a not rare groove..it is well know..Seawind is prized for its characteristic horns sound
