@wastedtalentusa It's to adjust metering. Depending on its setting, the camera will decide on how the image ought to be exposed (taking an overall average, or exposing for the center, or an overall average but weighting it to the center). The camera can do a good job judging what you need, but it's not foolproof and you can trick it into metering for the "wrong" thing, thereby exposing your subject better.

@nuttyest These women's job is modeling. Part of the "skill set" is be slim. Also, these women have narrow bones that come from their genes. And shouldn't 20 year olds in general be slim and leave weight gain for "later"? If the whole world has gone crazy over food not knowing when to stop eating and got fat, that doesn't have anything to do with those who are slim because of their genetic makeup and/or healthy life style.True, some of them do unhealthy stuff, but certainly not all.
