Had Brezhnev not re-glorified and found a way to accompany similar "bottom-up" economic reforms to the Union as China did under Deng Xiaoping,then there would still be a Union around. Hell, Gorbachev would come to do the "top-down" reforms when the economy would improve the Soviet Union and the USSR would be democratic (no longer socialist but more sovereign) & we'd be better off.

The USSR did not need a market economy in the way China did, it would not have been justified. China still has a planned economy statistaclly speaking, as well.

You can try fucking it, in the end it will fuck you big time. Market economy is the only economy that could exist and function. Even in USSR under central planning system, there still were markets - shadow markets - black markets. The money have been flowing under the table and the underground economy was growing rapidly, sooner or later it would have reached the actual economy and that would be the end of USSR.
The end of communism was inevitable.

J.-V. amendment was for countries with NON-MARKET economy. Today Russia has set its bid to WTO so the Amendment would not be applied to them.(not to mention number of waivers that has been granted before)
If you build your opinion based on childish youtube comments, that doesn't say a whole lot about you, now does it? Most of the authors are 13 y. o kids. The equivalent comments could be found about any nation, including Canada, that doesn't mean we hate Canadians

You know what i am talking about. The end of Soviet Russia was inevitable. Gorbachev was just trying to apply the same methods Lenin once used to restore the economy. By mid 80s Russian economy was a disaster, shortages, surpluses, huge lines, high prices - those were the consequences of planned economy and growing shadow markets. You can't blame Gorbachev, Lenin did the same thing with his NEP

@UDSS Well, I agree with you to a certain point. However, you should really consider you never lived in the Soviet Union, you have no right to talk as you lived there your entire life.
I lived there, my family lived there. There was no communism¸ of course not, we had a proletarian regime,which most people loved more than their own life, to reach communism.
You can not open a bottle of wine and destroy the entire structure of our civilization over night, you have to create a slow evolution

@UDSS – Stalin’s economic/social/political policies were left-wing Marxist socialism + mass murder against class enemies and anyone insufficiently loyal to Stalin. Murderous Marxist national leaders were supported by left-wing internationalist scum living comfortably in the West. Russian patriotism torwards the Soviet Empire was due to the Soviet WWII victory (with American support) over Nazi National socialism – NOT because of the Russian people’s love for Stalin.
