i was 20 years old when this was filmed. i used to live down the clubs, klooks, the flamingo, the scene etc from friday night to sunday night. brilliant times. zoot money, georgie fame and the blue flames, chris farlowe and the thunderbirds, long john baldry and loads more i cant remember cos i was always blocked lol. i remember a certain rod "the mod" stewart begging to get up and sing in the flamingo one night and being told to f**k off lol. i'm 64 now...good old days have now gone forever.

Zoot engages his inner Rufus Thomas at 2:47. Always heard of this place, in the ballroom of a Hotel and according to Dick Jordan on the live Graham Bond LP was "open every night of the week except Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday"
Love the table lamps and the truly beautiful women in the crowd. Through the past darkly indeed! Great to actually see this place, Tull , Cream and a bunch of others got their start here. Bless you for posting. Got any more>>
Zoot and the band playing at the Flamingo has left an indelible memory etched across the front of my brain. Him and the band, and Chris Farlowe & the Thunderbirds, Friday all-nighters all through 1964 into '65. Great times. Some years back I reminisced with Colin Allen in Stockholm backstage at a Peter Green comeback gig. Good talking to you Colin, and thanks Zoot for those great days.
Back in the day I lived just down the steet from The Railway Hotel in West Hampsted.Used to go to KK every night...remember seeing Long John Baldry there in 1967.
Andy Summers of the police. Yes that Andy Summers hiding on stage left on guitar and Colin Allan of Stone the Crows on drums.Historic stuff. Thanks for posting.
Zoot....fantastic guy. How come you can't find 'Big time operator' on record? Wonderful to see a glimpse of Klooks Kleek. Went there in july 67 to see Jimmi James & Vagabonds.
Sting said during a photo session for the cover of Zenyatta Mondatta: "Zoot money on the dole band" in answer to Andy who said "Last fucking Exit" LOL
Very cool. I remember all the great nights at the Manor House in Harringay, Chelmsford Corn Exchange, Palace Cinema, Wolverton. I was a member of The Niteshades - shared many a gig with Zoot, Paul, Andy, Dave and co.
Andy? Stupid cameraman didn't even know where to aim during the goddam guitar break at Zoots cue... Hmmm guitar break... I'll zoom in on the bass... So much for archiving a band...

Amazing that in January '67 despite his "Sgt. Pepper" stash Zoot was still keeping the r&b faith, but Dantalian's Chariot were just around the bend............
Paul Williams used to sing with him sometimes got some 45 singles of him/them from '66 or 67
Appeared at the Lynx Club in Borehamwood a few times.

Klooks Kleek, that brings back memories. Loved those small clubs, Country Club, Marquee. That was what you called 'really' seeing a group live.

Any idea where this footage comes from?
So good.
coolitababy 2 years ago
Yes it really is time travel ! The footage comes from a documentary on the London pop scene. Unfortunately it
was purchased by a millionaire & has
sat in a vault in Seatlle for nearly three
decades...So shhhhh,mums the word !
Hopefully I'll get to make a digital transfer
from the VHS pro master at some point.
For the time being, filming from a monitor is the only way I can share these gems...
Glad you dug it !
PS Location & date are given in the info box to the right of screen.

Pretty much like the RSG tapes. Dave Clark has them all but only released a few scraps. Obscene.
