Get your facts straight. Italians in East Africa during WW2 also recruited Ascaris (solders) from Somalia and later Ethiopia.

It is talking about the pride of Eritreans on being colonized by the wonderful Italians. Accepting colonization is nothing but a confusion on the Eritrean side. Probablly their feel more confortable to be as part of italy than as part of ethiopia. As italian i don't need explanations. I'm so honored and so gratefull for the friendship they give us. For me eritrean are my brothers, because courage, loyalty and honor more than ties of blood makes brothers. This is the great lesson that Eritrean Ascari teached to me.

Ascari testified with their blood their loyalty to Italy. Relationship betweeen italo-eritrean war much more complex than the one written (by winners) in their ufficial history books.
