Just so everyone here knows. This used to be MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT AND I UPLOADED & COMPILED this video.. The guy hacked my account. YES, I have worked in an animal research laboratory. I am a medical professional namely in blood & cell research. Based on that alone Im quite confident my opinions are valid. If you guys want to have a REAL debate with the person who actually listed this video come to my new page: currently under construction.
I don't understand how humans can treat any living thing different than we treat other human beings. but then again, I still hate that we still use war as a weapon of negotiating human lives.
PETA fails to show the benefits of animal research. Although some researchers missmanage animal testing, it does not mean that it happens all the time.PETA finds the worst case scenario and plasters it all over the place for everyone to watch and see. They don't have trouble showing the worst but they fail to give us the truth. Animal testing has helped many human beings and as much as I love animals, I put humans first.
Is it ok just to hide from these problems. It still happens but in my opininon to torture of an animal shouldn't improve society, it is morally wrong and i am an animal lover and i fell that its more important that there rights come first.
My god that makes me SICK. I almost puked when i saw the kittens. I defintly cried though, Kittens need a warm home and someone petting them and loveing them 24/7, not some cold dank dump where they are tortured
And, seriously, sewing an animal's eyes shut to test the effects of blindness??? How retarded is that? There are so many ways to test that without hurting an animal.
You're right, this is cruelty. It's exactly the kind of cruel research already prohibited by the Animal Welfare Act, but it also represents the kind of propaganda that PETA uses to try to galvanize people against all medical research.
To quote Sealab 2021: "*We're* miserable, so why *shouldn't* we test it all first?" Seriously, just test it on humans. I am sure that not all animal research is like that, but if the end result is to see the effects of something on humans, then testing it on humans is best. Give them some sort of compensation and I am sure there would be plenty of people willing to do it.
No, testing it on humans first is not best. It is unethical and immoral for health professionals to test unproven treatments on human subjects when those subjects could die. Thus, we have FDA trials that are only options after verified results in animal models. Imagine trying a brand new surgery for congenital heart defects on a newborn and watching that infant die. What do you say to that mother? "Sorry ma'am, we had to spare the animals?"
Every major advancement in surgical treatment, as well as in many other fields, has come thanks to animal research. If your suggestion is human research, then what happens when not enough people volunteer to test the next big transplant procedure? We can't use pigs or sheep, so perhaps it's time to start forcibly volunteering the less fortunate or "useful" in society. Human testing is the road tread by WWII Japan and Nazi Germany.
Additionally, the end goal of primary animal testing is not to see the effects of something on humans, but rather to test the safety of the intervention when applied to an intact physiological system related to humans. If this is successful, the FDA may agree that it is safe to subject a small number of human volunteers suffering from a certain ailment to the treatment, and then the goal is to see the effects on humans.
I seriously doubt any patients but the most hopeless would ever try a new cancer drug that has only been used on cell culture, nor would any responsible physician suggest that they do so. And then, we're right where PETA's final plan would land us: no new drugs or treatments at all. More needless human deaths. But at least no more mice died.
The fact is that many thousands of human lives are saved every year in this country thanks to ethical animal research. The attempts by peta to paint all researches as cruel has served to make it more difficult to undertake essential research that has been tightly regulated to ensure animal safety since before peta's inception.
Have you ever been in a animal research lab? Have you ever observed animal research? Until you have, you have no perspective on which to comment. Throwing expletives at people whose opinions you don't agree with does not constitute an argument and only proves you have nothing intelligent to say. Educate yourself.
14 yrs old and you've observed work in an animal research lab? I'll take your word for it. I myself have worked in a couple of different labs that used animal models of disease and observed nothing but the utmost respect and care for the animals, as that is exactly what is required by the animal care committees through which all projects must be approved. By the way, what was the nature of the research you observed?
Several things should be said about this. First, most of the treatment condemned in this video, if depicted accurately, violates the Animal Welfare Act of 1970 and ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT REPRESENT THE VAST MAJORITY OF ANIMAL RESEARCH PRACTICES. The goal of organizations like peta is to see all animal research end by spreading falsehoods contending that all animal research is cruel and unusual.
