@cptbertz i called osprey and they said it depends on what model. if its the SS series Osprey has to send you a different piston rod so that it will work with Midwest's thicker barrel nut. I am planning on getting the ss 10' very soon thats why i know
Bullshit. I've been sitting here for an hour trying to get the fucking op rod to clear the piston assembly. I have an LMT upper. So far this system is not easily taken apart or put together. I have an ARES GSR 35 that EASILY field stripped, runs like a fucking champ. I am going to get into some compair and contrast features but I can tell the Ares is a better system.
It's not an assault rifle without a piston. the m16 is a defective coyote popper without one. With one installed, you could probably pass that thing on down for generations

Since no gas is entering back there, there's no need for gas rings. By removing them it gives an additional path for dirt/water/debris to escape and therefore you gain additional reliability in inclement environments. You can leave 'em in if you want, will work just fine, but why not get that little extra bit of additional reliability?
this looks like the least obtrusive easiest system to install .i have 2 AR's and will be purchasing one for sure when the 20 in version comes out .
to all the piston naysayer's sure DI works and why change . a model T will get you to where your going but there's been lots of improvements in cars since then
Wow. I must have missed that deal because I had to install the bolt key on my existing bolt carrier, but none the less totally satisfied with Osprey piston system. Keep up the good work. P. S will the Osprey system fit the AR-10
Actually, the OPS-416 comes with everything INCLUDING the bolt carrier and you just use your existing bolt head from your factory setup. Easy to install and works perfectly!
so it looks like he put a new bolt carrier in the gun and some other new items also new handgaurds is all that needed/included with the kit i see on the website that retails for 350ish?
can I just replace the gas key on my DI Bolt Carrier with any gas piston key and use this system?

How do you clean the gas chamber area of the piston system with it fixed permanently into the front sight?.. You have to un-pin it for cleaning?..

I have a Rock River Entry Tactical with the Free floating Quad rail. How would I go About installing this system since I can not remove the Rail's.
