Your the most retarded person in the world! Verizon is facing regulatory approval first before they can buy the spectrum. Get your facts straight before you comment u fuckin dumbass!!
this is dumb, like nawab said, ther eare like waht 2 droid LTE phones on att? there is hardly anyone bogging down the network. even with all the people on verizons LTE is still getting half what att is....pretty good IMO
As a matter of fact, AT&T is expanding its coverage and network infrastructure every year. I would rather get high speeds as of now than not having high speeds at all.
@SpencerSouthard At&t has a lower frequency doesn't mean it has less spectrum. Frequency is just the type of bands that it uses for its network. Spectrum is the amount of airwaves of how much data can pass through. Verizon has a little more spectrum than AT&T but AT&T is still buying out more from other companies.AT&T has the better 3G technology and it will offer two layers of technology, HSPA+ & LTE. As Verizon can't upgrade it's 3G CDMA network anymore.
@angrut you fact is worng, verizon jsut bought out all the spectrum for the next like 2 years+. check out CNET and CNN they talked about hoe everyone is trying to get them not to buy it all because it would but verizon way ahead....not verizons fault they thought ahead and got big spendings ;]
@csy30076 so not true..AT&T has alot more iPhones on its 3g network than Verizon and its still faster! Same goes with its 4g LTE network! AT&T's VTEC just kicked in YO!!
@angrut Verizon and AT&T have different 3G technologies so a speedtest between those two wouldn't be on the same level. This is closer because it is the same 4G technology, but I agree that it's not quite fair yet because AT&T's is relatively unused. In fact, AT&T has much less 700mhz spectrum in various markets so in theory once both networks are congested Verizons should be superior.
Yeah, this isn't really a "Fair" test. Why? Cause Verizon's LTE network is more congested now that its been in use for about a yr now. AT&T's LTE is like BRAND new and just about unused at this point. So, Maybe compare in say 6-8 months down the road as AT&T's LTE network becomes more and more congested. That would be more "Fair". Just for the record, I dislike both carriers as they are BLOOD SUCKING VAMPIRES, LOL. I am a T-Mobile user, and supporter. But I do believe in "Fair" fights.
as soon as you reach your data limit you'll be drop to dial up speed like 114kbps on you 4G network with ATT.... If I knew that I would never get my 4G LTE. On my UNLIMITED data plan ATT shut me down after 2G of usage.
Well If the Verizon fans out there pull the "network congestion card", then AT&T would be the clear winner in the 3g/4g category, even without the hspa, hspa+. And just because it is a new technology there, it does not mean there are not a lot of user on AT&T. and you have to accommodate the fact of hspa+ 4g use from users, and regular 3g users. Then id say AT&T is still the winner
@jeremyvbk67 Network congestion has a lot to do with it. Someone could get 20mpbs before they go to sleep and the next day at lunchtime only get 11 mbps. (example)
@spadeyfresco1 Exactly why AT&T has alot of dropped calls and slow Internet speeds on its 3G network. Verizon customers quit complaining on how bad AT&T network is because it has alot more data traffic than Verizon because of the first iPhone back in 2007.
HTC Rezound in D.C. Best I tested was 44.03 Download and 13.93 Upload Then in the basement of my work where no AT&T customers can even get 3G I was able to get 10.17 Download and .53 Upload. Tests were run on 1/18/2012
LTE towers do not use different back haul than the 3G networks for either carrier. Therefore, the fact that AT&T is new to the LTE game is not a demerit and AT&T still carries more data traffic than Verizon by far. Expect higher speeds from AT&T as they invest more into their network than any other carrier. (this is merely a comment on speed and data traffic, not coverage or reliability)
I just got Verizon LTE in my area and on my Droid RAZR I got 30 down and 11 up. i'm not sure if it hasto do with the network being new or just not many people having 4g phones in my area, but it was so much faster than I was expecting. 3g feels so slower now...
lololol Verizon's 4G LTE tests in December 2010 was twice as fast as AT&T's puny speeds right now... Let's see when AT&T's server is congested like Verizon's server. Then We'll talk. Verizon's 4g LTE is far superior and more advanced.... even when it's quite congested. Although Verizon did have a few hiccups with their network being down, they are doing everything they can to be the best and most reliable network. And how reliable will this new AT&T 4G LTE network really be? Only time will tell
i live in a verizon 4g area but not the best 4g here.. but i usually get 15 mbps download but the upload is 19mbs. sad how upload is higher. but well when i first got mine i usually got 20 mbps for download, but not there are more 4g users
The way I see it, they're both ridiculous and kick Clear's speeds in the ass. (They almost beat cable!) AT&T's network is new, so that may be a factor. HOWEVER, Verizon has the 10GB cap max, AT&T does not. I'm currently deciding who to switch to: AT&T or Verizon for home internet to replace Clear (worst ISP on Earth). This test helps a bit. Ty.
Verizon has far more 4G Devices and wayyy more LTE Customers then at&t when i first got my LTE Thunderbolt last year i saw 42mbps down and 27 up on verizon now I Get around 30mbps down and 17 up on Verizon's LTE in New York City and it depends on location as well
there both the same many factors play a role in this, soo it doesn't prove which is better Verizon has way more people using there networks which plays a role while At&t network is new. Service at his location also have things to with it. they're both great and are the best 4g networks now. At&t's network just needs to come to more places now.
I love that i made the switch to att. verizon's lte dont seem to gel well with their cdma/evdo network. it killes my battery so fast and i never got speeds over 15mbps. and there 3g is so slow. 600kps to 1.4mbps dont seem so great these days. i get 6 to 12 mbgs on hspa+ and about 40mbgs on lte. my battery does not drain that fast compared to verizon i love it. On the holiday's me and my family go to our ranch and i actually get service! verizon is dead there. I was with verizon for 5 years
@fissionvission. I live in a medium-sized city in Alabama. News flash: I ALWAYS have more bars than my one or two friends who have Verizon. Even after the tornado hit us on April 27th in Tuscaloosa, AT&T lost 43 towers out of about 80, yet my Verizon friend had to use my phone to make calls. I will never switch to the dark side. At&t will always have my business.
Say what you want, I live in an area that neither AT&T, nor Verizon have LTE just yet, and AT&T is still better. The city I live in is saturated with AT&T customers; on a report it showed 65% of my city has AT&T and the rest have Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile, etc. I ran three speed tests today on my iPhone 4 vs Verizon's i4. I kept getting 5.2 Mbps while my friend kept getting 0.30 Mbps. How come it's so slow for Verizon when no one is on their network here! Verizon sucks! AT&T is better!
TO EVERY1: Even though Verizon's network is used by alot more people, not all people are using the network all at once. I guess ppl dont realize that AT&T just launched the network; meaning new towers. Which may also imply that the LTE radio towers have better performance. If one were to pay close attention AT&T is still at the disadvantage; The AT&T phone has less bars = good performance; and Verizon has near full bars = better performance so IDK, it is clearly to early to compare LTE networks!
...would you like to have your house built in 4 WEEKS with a crappy foundation and hope that it lasts or would you rather have someone spend 4 MONTHS building a solid foundation to stand on. Yes it takes more time doing it the right way, but it sure will pay off.
AT&T is sooo much better. This test just proves it. I'm tired of whiners making excuses when AT&T is always the clear winner. Think of the future...AT&T is the ONLY carrier building their foundation on two 4G speeds (HSPA+ and LTE). That delivers much more consistent speeds unlike Verizon which when out of an LTE area, you fall back to crappy EV-DO speeds. To illustrate, think of it like this...would you like to have your house built in 4 WEEKS with a crappy foundation and hope that it lasts or
Theres like 20 people on ATT LTE right now! Seriously those speeds will drop quickly and their LTE network will be just as unreliable as their 3G network once more people come onto the network.
I would love to have att lte here in Pittsburgh. I imagine once att's lte is flooded with as many devices as Verizon's lte is it should be a closer battle. But for now I'll take the att win.
Yea but people dont realize Verizons LTE network is currently being used by 25X the amount of people that are using ATTs' newly acquired LTE. Let ATTs' LTE become as used as verizons and those numbers will change drastically. Not as many people using ATT for LTE just yet so lets just say its nowhere near as congested as Verizons LTE. Thats the reality.
@spadeyfresco1 that's exactly what people were saying about Verizon's LTE before it was released to the public, and those speeds weren't so different from the actual speeds. Just saying.
@spadeyfresco1 Sorry my friend, but I do believe AT&T has better technology here. Your theory of network congestion may not have much bearing as methods used by AT&T 4 LTE is different that Verizon. AT&T uses a dual antenna/frequency methodology and a proprietary method of "bonding" the two frequncies together to get faster throughput. In addition, they have been going "crazy" in building out a bigger capacity Ethernet backhaul out of the cell towers. AT&T wins this round.
@spadeyfresco1 Yes. When I first got my thunderbolt months ago i was downloading at around 10mbps. Now its down below 5mbps most times, about as fast as my friends' at&t hspa+ phones in this area(Pittsburgh). Planning on dropping vzw asap.
