  • I just saw this, made me feel kind of old thinking the M198 is retired.

  • The number 1 man sucks!! Why in the hell would you retire such a fine piece of weaponry? I was a 13b for 5 years and loved every damn minute I spent on this gun!!!

  • I miss the 103rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The M198 was a demanding piece of equipment but it was fun to shoot and move.

  • I think she was also the first production 155MM. And she sure felt like it on our backs to!

  • This ol' b#tch nearly broke this ol' beat up broken down Red Legs back, and alot of other Red Legs backs... She's the heaviest of the towed Guns. Glad I got to see her last rounds though she was a beast, and served us well. But I still wouldn't trade her for the M109, I love the M109, she is so D@MN Much better!

  • What in the hell does that mean? @Squek22

  • Fire Mission!!! I can still remember hearing those words on the radio at like 4 am....."Fire Mission"...I was "SHIT LET ME SLEEP"...

  • Might be the last round for the US Army from a 198 but Australia is still using them although not for much longer.

  • aww so what artillery piece replaced it?

  • @Godsjudgement12 I believe the M777 will be it's replacement

  • Probably ain't gonna be the last time a M198 gets fired.

  • Space Marine fan? Enjoy your Matt Ward make over

  • The guys who put this video up is a lazy peice of shit. he could have been helping everyone out but instead decided to stand on the side and watch everyone else work hard. what a douche

  • @stanprice99 there is like... one two three... nice people at the 0:15 mark. i am sure that another guy would have made it a clusterfuck, why should he help. it looks like they knew what they were doing...

  • the last round fired on the 198 was in dec 2010 by C BTRY 1/377th FAR of 17th FIRES in Ft Lewis WA

  • @bgreeny85 yup. i can attest to that. my buddy was there.

  • I served on the 198 for 7 years. Seeing this brings a tear to my eye maybe im just sick, but when I die I want some of my ashes put in the booster charge cavity of a 155 shell and fired at whatever enemy remains, there will always be one.

  • Watch your language little lady!

  • Does the letters FO mean anything to ya,besides foward observer!

  • @Hank68ers Besides Fuck Off?

  • I think we found one of the members of that fine crewserve team!

  • Looks like a bunch of butter bars on the gun! Lost as usual!

  • @Hank68ers funny, you post like a PFC who keeps on getting demoted and sucks at life.

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 - This is highly insulting to those of us who were corporals (spec4s) twice & PFCs three times.

  • @Hank68ers Sir, your rank is upside down.

  • Are these blokes in training? Surely they do dry drills b4 moving on to this? seems like awful command and control

  • @stubbostubbs well artillery isn't dangerous. duh

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 It is if yanks are firing it, mainly to their allies. this bunch of clowns show why.....DOH!

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 not dangerous is you nuts try being on the receiving end then it will seem pretty dangerous if you ask me

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 well im pretty sure if your the one getting an artillery strike called in on your position ..... you would kind of call that dangerous would you not ?

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 depends on the end of the gun ur in...( *)_( *)

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 /watch?v=hfnMYk6pCqg the guy died 2 days later

  • @stubbostubbs these are a bunch of reservists

  • @MRFROSTYBREWS101 And your point is? Mine is that reservists or not, if they are that clueless, they shouldnt be manning the gun!

  • @MRFROSTYBREWS101

LOL! Yep! You got that right! You can easily tell they are not real familiar with the gun, also very unsafe.

  • was this fun

  • Actually the last round from a M198 came from Alpha Battery 1st Bn AASLT 377th FAR

  • @cabrown989 when?

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 Dec 6th 2010

  • Fucking noisy soldiers in the world!

Normally the noise from the Gun, This is the noise from the mouths of soldiers!! and take like 10 (maybe there) to operate 1 GUN??? CHINA 130mm even need 4 guys per gun!! (american big strong FOR SOMETHINGS ELSE ?? not with war??)

  • @CharlieDoan ok.

    1. Your English sucks ass.

    2. The M198 Howitzer traditionally takes 9 Marines but can be run with 7 MARINES(aka not Army you fucking moron).

    3. If your talking about the 130 mm towed field gun M1954, then your wrong. This weapon is manned by 8 enlisted personel. It is also a gun, not a howitzer as it only has a 45 degree arc.

  • @CharlieDoan

STFU Fag... Your 4 chinese could not even lift the trails of this beast. Most times we were short handed on the gun, and had 4 Red Legs only picking this big b#tch up to split the trails, and it was like power deadlifting...

  • what has replaced this weapon.

  • @drod103164 The British M777

  • @PantsuGirl M777A2

It was only designed in Britan. The UK does not use it.

  • @AdeptusAstartes01

    Oki =)

  • @PantsuGirl

Is the M777 lighter than this ol' b#tch. I have seen what looks like marines hanging on the tubes, to get the trails up off the ground. I'd rather hang on the tube, than have to use my back to pick up the trails, and hook to the deuce 1/2.

  • American soldiers are noisy from M-16 to 155mm.....not like 130mm cannon of soviet made

  • @CharlieDoan but their accurate...not like soviet made ;)

  • The m198 is still in use because my unit is still firing it in oef

  • @iresouljah Firing to enemies but when enemies fire back, u guys call air support help 10/10 if can destroy the enemy then u guys win or no help from AIR support then US run like a duck....(1973 run out from VN) very shame..and run to leave behind a South Vietnamese ally without ammo to surrender to North Vietnam!!!!

    - WHO CAN MAKE FRIEND WITH US..THEN LEARN VIETNAM LESSONS!!!

    - Where's the hell of B-52 when we reaaly need in 1975???

    - ....History never clean up face of shame of USA! VIETNAM

  • @CharlieDoan This has no relevance.

  • @iresouljah Oh thats cool, I thought the Army had already switched over to the M777A2. Glad to see she is still in action, shes a good gun with an illustrious history.

  • Wow if you pause it just right you can clearly see the round.

  • @balli2195 Yeah that's cool huh? Depending on the charge, the rounds come out of the tube at roughly 600 mph. If you stand at just the right angle beside the gun and look straight out at the angle of the tube, you can see the round for about 2 seconds. I'll try to see if I can capture that next time we shoot in March.

  • whoever was in charge of that gun or supossed to be anyway had a real safety issue with all those men right by the breach when it was fired. the only person that should have been back was the #1 man. if we ever did that when i was on the gun line we would have been over with. we would have had our sh!t jumped. but other than that good vid

  • @cutlass66guy You are so right. My Btry Gunny would have hazed us with many dry fire missions, out of traverse missions, dig a fighting hole for a howitzer, etc.

  • @gunrockusmc My gunny slapfires it.

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 Master GySgt Martin was very strict. I believe he received the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara for arty. As long as he did not see a slapfire he was alright.

  • @cutlass66guy This was a special case, we had guys learning the lanyard. They were out of the way of the breech. The section chief can be in between the trails and so can the ammo team, as long as they are at an angle.

  • @cutlass66guy it's only charge 4 green back, where is the safety violation.

  • @AdeptusAstartes01 ive never heard of a charge 4 green back... but what do i know?

  • @AdeptusAstartes01

Don't you mean Charge 4 green "BAG"...?

Not busting on you, because you are a Red Leg. I don't bust on Red Legs here, there are to many others on youtube who are X10 bigger dumb@sses here on youtube who have never even seen worse than any Red Leg who only graduates from Ft. Sill Okl, and becomes a Red Leg...

Any Red Leg here on youtube proves himself just by graduating from our training. Hell there's POG's on here who pretend to be riflemen, and are flight stewards.

  • @cutlass66guy

These are National Guardsman training. One weekend per month, twoweeks per year. And they break open the beer, and sit on the tailgate of the deuce 1/2 after they finish firing rounds on a saturday night.

  • Ahh yes, this hateful huzzy. I too miss blowing stuff up with this cannon. My days were also at Bragg. C btry 3/8th, and B btry 5/8th, which later re-designated B btry 1/377th. Gotta love them 155's!

  • Ah Revis!

  • @LeathArNak I know right

  • whats replacing this gun if they are sidelining this one?

  • thry are replacing the m198 wit dee m777

  • i love that weapon i had a chance to fire it n nov. at ft. sill

  • dude thats freaking bad ass i didnt know this video was on here this is when i saved revis's life!

  • seeing this makes me miss my days on the gun line when i was in the service .. the good old days back at Ft Bragg. I was a proud member of A-Btry (Pacesetters!!) 1 / 321

  • too bad your gun was the slowest on the gunline, sgt. roberds and i ran our gun line like a well oiled marine issued marine.....which is horrible!
