Yea they do it in many places, one of the most famous places is Jack London Square. Do as search for it, I think there are some vids of it on here.

The engine was around $115, each train car was probably 20-25 dollars, each vehicle is 5-10 bucks, and the buildings cost between 10-40 dollars depending on what it is. We are a club, so its not one person buying all of this stuff. Different members donate things, although the trains themselves are not donated.
