Sorry. I gave it over 10 minutes and it just didn't hold my interest. Good costumes, decent camera work, good sets when you used them (as opposed to standing in front of a green screen), but the acting was merely average and the SFX unconvincing. And it just didn;t grab me. Like I said.... by 10 minutes I was ansty becasue it was kind of boring.
There are awesome fan made videos all over Youtube of The Enterprise and other stuff that look great. You couldn't find one person that could help you out in the special effects department? The space scenes look horrendous.
Who wouldn't of had a blast making this film. If you are a true fan then you love any and all story lines. There was a day, way back on stardate 1966 when the original was rejected by the studio. I think it would be fun to see how this would play to an end. I enjoy some of the original material. I also know when you are producing a series it is a very busy undertaking so there are always going to be challenges with considerations to the flow and consistency. The pro's make it look
Hnestly not badly done at all. In my youth MOVIES in the theatre were often not as well done, and by gods, being a fan film you folks did awsome. Ok, so, some minor goofs here and there. Happens. Props are iffy, ok, and... so...? Kudos. I'll be watching more when I find it.
That was pretty good. I am definitely hooked on the story and the characters. It would be nice to see more episodes. I don't mind some of the low-quality production (such as the mysterious camouflaged beings chasing them on the planet) because the story is really compelling. Heck, I am a Doctor Who fan from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back and there were certainly times in the old series where the props etc. were pretty bad compared to modern expectations. Keep it up. Can't wait to see more.
@jlkinney082073 - Yeah, they had to use what they had or could find. It never took away from the story though. Great writing, great acting, but sometimes the props just weren't great.
I'm really not a fan of "FanFics".I wholly believe they are waste of time and if the people involved really wanted to make a career in the film industry there are better ways to go about it instead of making it feel like a soft core porn video with worse acting.I commend you on the production side for putting it together and all parts involved to do so,because it looked as though some efffort was put into it despite the cheesy end result. The coolest special effect was the camouflaged "aliens".
way to go guys. Great production. Will you be doing a behind the scenes. I'm very interested in what technology and software used in the production. Or tutorials from costume design on the uniforms. Or what was the thought process in the updated curvy LCAR like UI and displays.
Guys, it is really great, but... What I would love to see though is your own original work. Fan films are to easy cause you don't have to write the rules. You guys are clearly waaay more talented than this...
Talk about "Cowboy Diplomacy" I have to say that it has my vote and support.. I sat through the whole thing, and I understood it all... I did enjoy the story line.. please keep it going because I want to live long enough to see this happen... Peace and Long life...
Amazing, great quality production and an appropriate standard of acting from all involved that made it feel like Star Trek. Gripping story line, well detailed characters. Great Kirkesque fist fight scene. Great soundtrack. Brillaint costumes and make-up. First Star Trek Phoenix I've seen. Me like. :-)
great effort guys, except the ships captain, doctor and lieutenant all beamed down onto a planet which had just caused the disappearance of some of the crew and all the admirals and ambassadors on board raised no objections!? not quite right i think...
@imstjimmy If you've ever watched Star Trek (any series) it's actually quite a common event to have all the top guys go on an away mission, even a "dangerous" one, and leave the ship in the capable hands of the next in command.
@BakaHULK agreed, my point was that its against regulations isnt it? you would have thought that with all the beuracratic people on board the ship there might have been a few objections? or at least voiced by other crewmembers?
@imstjimmy We can't know if it is or isn't against regulations, but it happens in a pretty much all Treks and Picard isn't the man to throw out a regulation unless there is a really good reason; so that would imply there is no such regulation. The way Starfleet personnel seem to be trained is that there are multiple people who can take over for practically any position on the ship and Harry Kim has taken command of Voyager on several occasions and he's only an ensign.
@BakaHULK I realise that it happens very often, but that doesn't mean that its not a rule, i mean how often do we break rules with disregard to them? if i can quote Spock in the latest Star Trek movie, when captain kirk wishes to beam aboard an enemy ship ( a dangerous situation, whereby it would also leave the ship without its captain, and second in command) spock says "i would cite starfleet regulations, but i know that you will simply ignore it", showing that there are regulations for it
Wow this is great, guys. I think the only thing that bothered me was the frame rate. All Trek is at 24 fps and I think the video suffered at 30. It's a huge reason things "taped" at 30 look like soap operas.
Good sets, good vfx, subpar acting. Only the Romulan officer and the doctor were decent, and their bantering reminded me of Spock and McCoy. I thought having the ship damaged in the beginning without ever explaining why caused a bit of confusion. It seemed like the creators were trying a little too hard. Also, the Romulan makeup needs some work. It looks fake, and all the other alien makeup amounts to some face paint. I guess making facial prosthetics was a bit much for their budget?
James Lyle and Roy Stanton are the two best actors I saw in this episode. Roy was definitely channeling Spock and Tuvok in his role, I felt he had the correct way of speaking and mannerisms that his species should have. James Lyle was like a british version of McCoy. Elle Viane Sonnet also did a good job as Solara. I felt the Captain needed some work, but I do understand that he has to live up to Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway.
Acting has too much emotion, might work for Andromeda. Reminds me of Star Gate or Fire Fly, but not Star Trek. Plot OK but too disjointed. Something wrong with the old transporters? Good effects.
There are a lot to be criticized about this video. The acting is bad, the 3D graphics is more like a video game than a movie, the set has to be redesigned especially the ship's corridor, the special effects needs a lot more work, the costumes resemble more of a motorcycle rider's jacket than a starfleet uniform, etc. But an effort like this should be appreciated and supported. Great job.
Okay acting, good story, great props, amazing uniforms.
Couldn't really tell what parts of the set were real and what was green screen, so I give it a great on FX(but the slipstream/hyperspace window needs some work. Less spiral, more cloudy).
What I love most? That this takes place in the original timeline! No wanna-be JJ Craptrek...THANK YOU!
2422 and a starship that size doesn't have a battle bridge?!
Irregardless, the political situation is similar to what was predicted in Nemesis. So I like the continuity. I do like the new ship design; not too much, not too little....quantum slipstream drive - 40+ years to work up Voyager's data and research makes it very possible.
Not sure how I feel about the new transporter, might be a bit of a reach.
Irregardless...Without regard. In this case; without regard to my opening sentence about there being no battle bridge on the ship, the political situation... etc
It certainly has potential, but I think "great" might be stretching it. Liked the homage with the doctor being a bit like McCoy. Lots of work needs to be done: The acting needs definite work. Seemed very stilted. Also the actors were dialing it in. Not "Trek" calibreat all. The camera work with the digital aspects were good, but the live action looked amateur and low quality. Decent props and costuming. Ship interior was so-so. Liked the holographic displays though.
Yeahw, some lessons in acting would do this show good, but to be completely honest.. this has SO much potential. I enjoyed watching it, and wouldn't at all mind to see it continue. In it's current state though, it's not quite the quality of previous series.

Pretty good production values- and well executed, too.
Damn shame it's wasted on a cast with all the acting ability of a high school production.
..and the "captain"? LMFAO
The rest of the sub-par acting could be mitigated with a strong lead, but a dude who's
5'3" with braces and the enunciation skills of an 11 year old with downs syndrome?
The ambassador's aide got subtitles, but he was more clearly understood than this guy.
Lose him. He ruins the whole thing, single-handedly.
