Aww.. no disrespect to the Jackson Family, but now I have a VERY clear understanding of why Michael was so insecure. They're so harsh.. I mean, I know they're just messin' around but hearing that kind of stuff about your nose, your hair, how black you are, etc. can really get to you. I mean, I understand it's just messin' around for the most part but when you're constantly hearing it, it takes a toll. name calling is a black thing. if you grew up in a black community and not get a nickname you should start worrying. Most people will answer to their nicknames. Mj was reknown for calling his friends applehead, rubber and other names. he called janet dunk, ie donkey because of her behind being big. janet said all the brothers teased her but Mj was relentless and just wouldn't stop. he teased randy a lot too. Mj gave it but he acted like he was the only one getting teased.

You're also generalizing because I know my family definitely isn't the only black family that doesn't have this kind of talk in their household. However in the Jackson family it WAS very prevalent and Michael especially being the most sensitive, it took a toll on him. I'm sure he teased other family members too, i'm not denying that! But that doesn't mean he wasn't the victim of teasing as well.

MJ was the worse for teasing his siblings. janet said so and The video I watched bear it out, MJ is on camera calling Randy ugly monkey and ape. Janet said his teasing was relentless and it made her uncomfortable and insecure. he pointed out thin White girls and told janet she should look like that. I have Janet Jackson's book "True You" and she in fact does say all of that, how they went skating and he pointed out skinny girls and implied she should look like that. Yes, he DID tease others, my point here is that EVERYONE in the JACKSON FAMILY were both teasers AND targets of teasing. It makes no sense just to point out Michael and claim him as the worst when all of the brothers did tease each other!

@crazy4corbinbleux I agree with you, I was shocked too at the extent of teasing that went on, however, when I pointed out MJ's faults it was only to highlight the fact that fans are always making out that Mj was a victim of teasing. i think MJ made it sound that way in his interviews, when what he should have said was that WE were terrible at teasing each other and I hated it, but I am as guilty as the rest of them.

@Nickleby2 But you also have to take into consideration when MJ came out revealing those things on Oprah, etc. he was in a sense trying to gain sympathy--ppl were making up horrible rumors, his private life was becoming the main center of attention and people were trying to tarnish his image in every way.. in a way, exposing his childhood and saying HE was teased and abused, etc. helped him on his part. It sounds bad but in a way he had to do it to make people understand where he was coming from

I see what you are saying, but he did throw his family under a bus resulting in much nastiness because the obsessed fans started to attack the family members claiming that Mj was targetted cause they were jealous of him. Nothing could be further from the truth. The jackson brothers were all very protective of each other and were equally ruthless when it came to teasing each other. Even Joe jackson never escaped the teasing and name calling as Jermaine wrote in his book.
