Hi Isabella, could you please explain me, what exactly is "Petronella"? Is it the title of this song or the name of a style? As you can see, my name is Petronella as well, and I always connected it to the Latin "Petros" but maybe it origins really in this musik???? :)
@isabellanakahara Yes there is a Scottish Country Dance that uses this tune. It's the very first dance in the very first Royal Scottish Country Dance Society book oddly enough.
No question mark after Scottish ! The tune was composed by Nathanael Gow, Edinburgh 1820. Father Neal and his 4th son Nathanael were the Kings of Contra in Edinburgh like later the Strauss Family as Kings of waltz in Vienna.
I used have an old reel tape full of these ceilidh songs that lasted about twelve hours. They are often just played by a piano accordian and a fiddle and are guaranteed to make your foot tap. Good Vid.
Terry, I sure know what you mean! That happens to me, too. I'm playing so well, then as soon as I start to record, I stop playing as well. Oh, well..... I look at this a fun way to connect with others and to keep track of my paying over time.... hopefully there will be improvement. :-)
Thank you for posting this video Isabella. That tune has been in my mind for some time so I will try to learn it. I have posted my first attempts but with many mistakes!! It's strange how well things go until someone puts a video camera in front of you!!! LOL
It is a Scottish country dance and also a formation or certain steps danced by one or two people together.

@petronellaiz - Hi there. It is my understanding that Petronella refers to a form, or type of dance. I believe it is a Scottish country dance.
