  • @vietninja007

    Ur right about avatar

But the blind side shouldve won

  • Why did they combine Up and Up in the air together?

  • Should've been:

    Picture: Avatar

    Director James Cameron

Actor: Colin Firth (the least voted, ironically)

    Actress: Meryl Streep

    The Supporting Roles were right.

  • Anyone who thought Avatar would win was way behind the times. The Hurt Locker was the frontrunner since December. The only win Avatar ever got was from the Golden Globes, an awards telecast voted on by just 80 people who are known for picking popular choices (see Julia Roberts' nomination and The Hangover's win this past ceremony).

Don't think, though, that I mean to bash Avatar. I preferred it over The Hurt Locker anyway. Avatar was my #2 of all of 2009, just behind Fantastic Mr. Fox =)

  • the Oscars were horrible this year.

  • This is a fantastic piece of footage, really is a must watch. I've seen it online at [ WatchMoreNowRRnet ](replace RR with a dot)

  • might i add Where is the peace or anything interesting or nice in hurt locker

  • see its rigged avatar went to much more trouble it is definatly was more beautiful and is much better ending i believe

  • thats the way it should have been

  • This shows people are pretty clueless.

  • i havent see naomi watts in the event,,,! did she came around,,??

  • you have a funny head. I like you :-)

  • Hurt lucker is a shit, it's amazing how a movie with a NO peace message could win, and how a movie like avatar that has an invitation to peace, cociusness and nature-love lost!.... OSCARS, like everything else are moved by higher interests.... such a shame.

  • Man, I'm so fed up of people saying the thought Avatar should have won because "they haven't heard of The Hurt Locker so Avatar MUST win". If you have seen The Hurt Locker, then make an argument for Avatar, but until then.... sit down and shut up! :D

  • interesting to see what we want to win...

  • Avatar deserved to win everything the Oscars had to give it. Cameron and actors worked really hard. Hurt Locker? What the fuck is that? Never heard of it. Did someone punch it? Does it need a new combination? How about a lock? I saw a pretty blue one on sale at Wal-Mart. It even glows in the dark.

  • The ones who give the Oscars are the close mind people ever in the world. If we think in the ancient Greeks for the Oscars givers they would get rid of the Iliad.

  • glad people like you aren't part of the voting academy members mate. What a philistine!!

  • Hurt Locker is a political strategy, I am sorry that real art cannot be considered as such in the 21st century. Maybe for the next century will the Oscars voting members will change their strange minds.

  • @hnoss13 The acting was so poor in Avatar, none of the actors deserved anything.

  • was christoph waltz the german guy that got beat in inglorius basterds?

  • well i guess he got beat up in the end...

he played the role of "hans landa" you see him in the beginning scene hes the guy who is in charge for seeking all jews!

in my opinion he was the best actor in the whole movie...

  • @stupify4life yeah but he is an austrian

  • Why do so many people fail to recognize that Avatar has almost the exact storyline of Pocahontas?!! Seriously, look it up, it's the same freakin story!

  • @XandirDT

lol you want to say that every fil, where 2 young people form different society love each other is a Pocahontas story??? Bustard

  • its the same story as about a hundred other movies as well

  • soo disapPointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

AVATAR SHOULD HAVE WON THE AWARD FOR BEST FILM OF THE YEAR!!!

THE OSCARS IS A RIPPED OFF!!!

THE HURT LOCKER IS SOO LAME.. NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT...

  • Even the audience knew Avatar should have rightfully owned Hurt Locker...but some liberal judges chose instead to "make history" and give a woman the best director award....wtf

  • avatar, if it werent for the effects it wouldnt even have been nominated .

  • has the hurt locker even been in theatres or just a dvd release? it didnt sell well where i work until recently and everytime i ask the guest what the movie is about they say they dont know....some stuff that happens in iraq :/....really?

  • avatar was really good

     they should nominate the actors...

  • It's becoming rather obvious Hollywood awards are based upon political correctness. The "Hurt Locker" won because Hollywood had to award the first female directory oscar. I am going to make a movie next year with a female gay albino native american director. The movie will win an oscar because, "there has never been an oscar awarded to a lesbian indian with white hair" before.

  • excuse me but if your talking about politics, Avatar would have benefited more then The Hurt Locker:

Reason 1) The best picture would have been awarding Avatar for how much money it has given the industry

Reason 2) It would have been vindication for trying to prove that 3D does work and the best picture would encouraged more films to have been shot in 3D (which is a farce to get your money to get rid of the issue of piracy)

  • I never thought of the piracy issue before. That makes sense. 3D really didn't do much for this movie. A turd in 3D is still just a turd.

  • Noooo..... The Hurt Locker was just better

  • avatar was brilliant

  • Yes avatar is really the best. see? people want it... it's the people men...

  • agree 100%

  • Yes I agree with you. Avatar should have won the best of all. I don't know how did they get that thing in that movie... it's avatar gee, all except those nits agree with me in the whole world...

  • Avatar should have won don't you agree with me this can not be the hurt locker i hate soccer, im more of a basketball man thats the plan to wait for movie math on this youtube channel join the oscar panel and vote for avatar is by far the best movie of the year don't drink beer its taste nasty LOL.

  • I'm so glad the Hurt Locker won! If you haven't watched it, GO AND SEE IT and you'll see it is more superior to Avatar. I agree Avatar is a feat in CGI and many of the shots are awe inspiring but as a piece of film making and a film that had a profound impact on your sensibilities after walking out of the cinema, The Hurt Locker wins hands down. Also, try watching Avatar in 2D, all it is is Pocahantas with smurfs and CGI with a lazy plot with subject matter that has been seen numerous times

  • Boring! the movie "hurt Locker" was not even famous until Oscars time.

  • this is funny!! I notice The Hurt Locker is suddenly selling like mad here in the UK??? last week, nobody gave a damn about this film??? sheep

  • Yeh but rightfully so, I'm glad the academy has given credit to a film that deserves it's praise and now it will be put into the view of a worldwide audience. But it been hailed as a stroke of genius film-making for months and people are just starting to realise it!

  • I'm so happy Avatar didn't win. Out of a mediocre year of films, The Hurt Locker was a good choice.

  • the crappiest Oscar ever

  • How can the Hurt locker win best movie what a pile of support the troops crap

  • @pipe086 Those men in uniform are putting themselves in harms way so that people like you can enjoy yourselves living in a free society that allows you and movies like Avatar to express your opinions openly. Maybe people like you and Mr. Cameron should try to show a little more respect in that regard.

  • i could give a shit about war and if u truly believe that the afgans will take US and dont let you have freedom then the brain watch worked on u, maybe u are right thehy are protecting the oil wells!! so u can drive a different car each year

  • What we are dealing with is much larger then Afghanistan, oil and cars. Try to see the broader picture and then you will understand...Until then...hugs and kisses ;)

  • Yea Zoey Saldana def deserved a nod, she was the heart and sould of the actor and truly put strong emotions that shined through a friggin mo cap animation. Hope Avatar takes it home tonite, Hurt Locker is a great film, but not the best, I felt absolutely no attachment to any of its characters like I did with Avatar and Saldana's character, and If film's objective is to take you somewhere you can't possibly imagine, Avatar would be first (Hurt Locker a close second)

  • Avatar is by far the best movie of the year. The actors should have been nominated by far.

  • Comment removed

  • @metallicakixtotalass im sorry you like to eat shit for breakfast

  • Nope, I personally like Honey Bunches of Oats with skim milk and a side of wheat toast with strawberry preserves. Thanks for asking though ;)

  • @metallicakixtotalass MELODRAMATIC??!! you gotta be friggin kindin me, if it was melodramatic, i dont think they woulda brought it up and the video, ur a heartless douche if u didnt show at least a bit of compassion for Avatar!!!!

  • They brought it up in the video because people are sad she didn't get nominated, not for any other reason. Also, how am I heartless if I see Avatar as what it is - a way for James Cameron to remake Pocahantas and Dances with Wolves while jerking off all over the screen - while insulting the military, which if you do support the army like I think you do, you should be offended by. What compassion does Avatar deserve, it made more money than any other film in history! (not counting for inflation)

  • Moon definitely deserved a nod. Rockwell was incredible too. I wasn't a huge zoe saldana fan, but moon got snubbed, much better film that Up.

  • they spelled bastards wrong, damn bastards

  • Avatar is cool, it is not just about good and evil beat the shit out of each other. We should respect nature like the Navi did

  • Avatar doesn't deserve an oscar, best picture should definately go to Inglorious Basterds or District 9

Quentin Tarantino deserves best Director, definately not Cameron.

And I agree that the Guy who played Wikus van der Merwe should have been nominated, especially since he was never acted before and put out such a great performence.

Also, at least one, if not both, of the women from Inglorious Basterds should have been nominated for something.

  • Avatar is crap.

It has good visuals but that's it.

The story is third grade shit, the acting is mediocre at best, the characters are as shallow as an Argentine soap.

  • watch the 2010 oscars live ta THESAD(.)6te(.)net/theoscars

  • Avatar sucked... WTF PEOPLE?

  • i know right?

it was just a bunch of naked blue people running around a tree and going into space.

  • @WeAreColdMalt avatar is awesome

  • Wikus van der Merwe should have been nominated, he wouldn't win, but a nom should at the least he deserved

  • Black & White with small eyes 99% support Mongols to ruled US. .Look all in Oscar . .small Eyes right ?Those Small eyes , they don't care about kill you , they only care the moneys, vacations, good time. . So they are not Human. . .time to kill them all .

  • Wind mill..are the things Mongols & Democrats+Repu.. .not for Eclectric. . Mongols use the WindMill to raun fast speed blow the Chemical weapons hepl kill us fast. . .Mongols & their children don't have any Nuclear, but they have a lot of dirty Bombs to drop in to air. .kill us !Kill all 335 millions Good ang Bad the same. .so how idiot who are support Mongols

  • Mongols in more than 800 yrs ruled this world by the most of European help them..look around you.. .even US goverment all white small Eyes or Black or Chinese(Mogngols) . .in this world right now more than 9 billion. .7 billions from Mongols and their children.. . .

  • by Media ..close you can see the time Recession. . Financial down.. .mean Mongols was down. .that Empire ending. All of the houses of those "movies star" for closure. .why? becasue for the long time all of them never have to pay a dime fot tax or Financial. .likes all of GEO too.. .also 3/4 of the houses owner in US never pay any ..even a penny!

  • The truth many people in US & the World do not know. ..all holly wood movies star are Mongols 100%,the making up make them look likes white people. but not. That why all of them are living by welfare, food stamps likes black poeple in US . . .

  • If Avatar doesn't win best picture....I will cry, literally.

  • avatar avatar avatar noone is even in the same league as avatar such a good movie, good acting, james cameron is going to go down as the best director ever.

  • I agree with the Sharlto Copley and Sam Rockwell write-ins.

As much as I liked Avatar, I just tend not to LOVE what the mainstream loves. I definitely want Quentin Tarantino to be for best director.

  • avatar, james cameron !!!!but why is zoe saldana not nominated??!!!

  • Não entendi nada tava em ingles heheh

  • Christoph waltz should be in a movie about the battle of stalingrad

  • hmm i liked sanra bullock with blind side

  • put down your oscar picks

  • Avatar--dsvs an Oscar

    Inglorious Basterds---dsvs an Oscar

    Zoe Saldana dsvs an Oscar.

  • Ok, so I don't understand why people love Avatar so much. It has pretty colors and effects, but that's it. We've already seen the story, and the acting was not out of this world. I'm sorry, but a movie can't be good for me on visuals alone.

  • Agreed :)

  • You look beautiful here.

Kinda hard to say that without sounding like a creeper.=P

  • Haha loving the James Cameron opinion!

  • Why does Sandra Bullock deserve an Oscar? I really want to know. I don't think her performance was really anything spectacular, nor was her acting in that film. Members of the Academy/fellow BTT voters, I am befuddled.

  • To be honest! District 9 is a much stronger film compared to Avatar! ok, Camerons big hit is great on the level that it takes you away from reality, brings good fun but for an oscar? come on! Aliens is a much better movie by Cameron for sci fi!!

  • Wow, now we know why movies are losing its purpose these days.

  • 2:25 ZOE SALDANA!!

  • only agreed with Monique and Christophe Waltz, all the rest i disagreed with. And hell yeah, where was Moon and District 9's main actor? I just hope District 9 gets something. Avatar? seriously ppl? quality films, not quantity.

  • katheryn bigelow is a hot MILF

  • i agree with all the choices except, the best director, i believe katheryn bigelow deserves her rightoues gold, i also agree with how neither sharlto copley or sam rockwell wernet nominated, they were so freaking awsome, while the acaemy is showing appreiciation to district 9 as best picture, i would still replace the blind side with moon.

  • I'm really looking forward to the Oscars...you know what else...I'm also looking forward to NBC's Minute to WIn it! :)

  • Moon wasn't nearly as awesome, but was 10 times better than Avatar. If Avatar wins an Oscar, I'll be so disappointed

  • The district 9 guy was really good in the movie he desereved a nomination

  • I really don't see this. His performance was actually one of the worst I've ever seen. Can anyone tell me what's so enjoyable or good about Sharlto Copley besides the fact every sentence has to have the f-word? And that's neither, but I could see immature people getting a giggle.

  • Christoph WALTZ !

  • TEAM SANDRA!!!!!

  • inglorious basterds ftw!!

  • Wuw! Bowie looks really old in that photo ..scary :S

  • that may be because he is old as fuck?

  • okay im sick of this Avatar bullshit. indeed it had amazing special effects, but it ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DOES NOT deserve best picture...OR EVEN A NOMINATION!!!

  • Up was (story wise) a million times better than Avatar.

  • I Pray for Sandra always loved her blind side was great & its her time

  • I really think it's time Quentin Tarentino wins best director and best film. Not James Cameron again. Just because it has amazing special effects, doesn't mean it just HAS to win best picture.

  • actually it does, Avatar was the best movie ive seen in my life

  • @PivotPiAnimations then you need to see some more movies, my friend

  • Avatar's only got popular vote because everyone saw it. There's better movies. I would have voted Moon.

James Cameron's good, but he has better. I bet it's going to be director of Hurt Locker. Duncan Jones deserves it though IMO.

Not Morgan Freeman? Really? Ah well. Would have liked Sam Rockwell there too. NO SHARLTO COPLEY. HE SUCKED.

Waltz deserves, Rorshach was awesome though. Kevin Spacey anyone? (A joke)

Nothing spectacular about Bullock. I'd like Meryl Streep to get it.

  • you can't just say that avatar is biased, you forget that sci-fi genre isn't exactly the most popular

but that's like saying that the hurt locker and inglorious basterds are bias because the hurt locker is iraq and americans in a war still going on, and inglorious basterds is yet again another world war 2 movie and they always have a large audience

precious is bias because it involves all the shockers of society which do occur

    et cetera, et cetera

you can't say that a film is bias

  • i still stand by what i said on facebook grace, Brad Pitt was robbed when they didn't nominate him for the BEST performance he's ever given.

  • Best of Brad Pitt doesn't match up to best of Morgan Freeman.

  • i think the salldona from avatar should have gotten nominated! she definatly was pulling most of the acting weight in the movie and i dont think it matters if it was done by motion capture tech. it was still her moving, talking and expressing emotions

  • avatar is biased! if it was directed by someone else it would make 2 billion maybe 1.

  • SHARLTO!

  • ai!

  • SUCKED

  • i haven't even seen avatar, it hasn't come to the second run theatres yet

  • lol awesome episode

  • Right people?????? Avatar should not get best picture nor should James Cameron get best director. That movie was generic as all hell, the acting sucked, the writing sucked, and the pacing was slow. If anything, I think District 9 deserves Best Picture just for the fact that on a tight budget was able to make a film that appears to have that big hollywood budget.

  • avatar is biased, ppl liked it caz it looked good, and it was directed by james cameron

  • @wilhelmscream25 no.. i didnt even know who james cameron was... I just lik'd the movie....

  • i agree avatar is just biased and it looks good. iF THE MOVIE WAS MADE EXACTYL THE SAME BUT SAY, WAS DIRECTED BY A ACTOR NOONE HEARD OF it would mabye make 1 billion not 2.

  • (sorry, ran out of space)

all the ideas of the films were generic...and moreover cliche.

The most original concept was probably Inglorious Basterds (out of the three top runners)

  • yeah but remember what best picture is--it can be given to the most generic film if it must because it is whichever is the best made film involving all categories listed....just, don't confuse that explanation with adapted screenplay

  • District 9 was an abysmal piece of garbage that played on the minds of people to find "deeper meaning" in film. It tried too hard and it failed. HARD.

Moon was much, much better at provoking thought and looked like a non-ripped off Hollywood production on a fraction of the budget of D9.

  • @AguyinaRPG shut the fuck up

  • Please show me anything redeemable from D9 that is not stupid, racist, and/or deceiving and maybe I will.

  • I would have liked to see moon up there but not Zaldana because I did not find her performance special.

  • I LOVE avatar and james camerons movies!. Im very happy that christoph waltz is nominated, his preformance was epic!.

  • people should just remember that the best picture category is not decided based on the storyline of the film, that is another category. And whilst there may be some valid arguments against Avatar, I'd defend one detail worth defending--the screenplay was written fifteen years ago, exclude all films within that period.

I haven't seen the hurt locker yet, but I know that the oscar will go to either inglorious basterds, avatar or the hurt locker. Rather than 10, they should have only had 3 nominees

  • colin firth last?? wtf he was the best this year he should win!

  • sandra bullock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Zoe Saldana should win for Avatar, Clooney should win out of the nominees but Sharlto Copley should win overall. Avatar should win best picture, Waltz best supporting, Kedrick for supporting, Cameron for director and The Hurt Locker for screenplay. Whatever, the Academy sickens me. Doesn't mean I won't watch lol.

  • Take three movies Jeff Bridges has been in and put those characters together. You get his Crazy Heart character. It's just an ultra hick version of his other characters. It's so upsetting that he's going to win because he won't get another chance. He doesn't deserve it. Clooney should win.

  • Really? Avtar? I hated that boring peice of shit even if it was a beautiful peice of shit.

Moon - Best Actor, Picture, Director

  • hhahahahaha that is sooo true

  • fuck you

  • I agree that Avatar is a great film, but it's not Oscar worthy. Half of the Idiots watching probably haven't seen the films on offer, and will vote for Avatar, just because they "think it's the best film ever made"

  • @frasierfreak92

I have seen all of the films on offer and i still prefer AVATAR. I really enjoyed district 9 and inglorious basterds. but i love avatar. it might be becuz james cameron is my faveourate director. it might be of the voice and live action talent.

but i honestly think its because its a great film with a beatiful atmusfear.

  • AVATAR NOT OSCAR WORTHY

    GEEEEEEZ

  • Christoph Waltz deserves it for sure, but District 9 and Inglourious Basterds are better than Avatar in my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • The storyline of Avatar is far from a creative products. *painting the characters blue is not!*

If you are familiar with Japanese animations, you would realize that many scenes of the film reminds you of its Japanese counterparts, e.g. the forces of the forest/nature, even the floating islands.

  • do you did something to your hair grace it looks nice

  • Neil Blomkamp should have been nominated for best director.

  • avatar all the way,a sreious man was a serious snorefest

  • Avatar is OVERRATED!!!!! it does not deserve it!

  • I'm dissapointed Sam Worthington didn't get nominated for best actor. The Avatar overrated appeal would have given him the gold

    GO MR FREEMAN!!

  • Avatar is abit over rated.

  • These are my personal picks.

    Best Picture-A Serious Man/Hurt Locker

    Best Director-Kathryn Bigelow

    Best Actor-Jeff Bridges

    Best Supporting Actor-Woody Harrelson

    Best Actress-Gabourey Sidabe

    Best Supporting Actress-Maggie Gyllenhall

  • the only one I agree with is best supporting actor

  • Sam Rockwell should've been a nominee - Moon was great.

  • Agreed.

  • sorry for not commenting on the content and instead opting to say- You look really pretty :D

  • Golden Globes much?

  • Avatar should not be Best Picture, and James Cameron not best dir. Kathryn Bigelow

  • district 9 better win but I doubt it will and Saldana got snubbed because she is fuckin hot as hell

  • Avatar is seriously lacking originality: the quality of the best motion picture! Probably this is the best Cameron could do: He deserves no best director either!

Even UP is more original than Avatar!

  • Original movies are almost impossible to find these days. Most subjects have been used before.

  • Avatar doesn't deserve Oscars, because it just a piece of art,it was a good movie but not for Oscars

  • LOl grace you are the best!

"Theres very little we can do about it....UNTIL NOW!!!!!!!!!!"

hahaha your delivery is seriously amazing!

  • Hehe, thanks! :)

    - Grace

  • i totally agree that Avatar is over-rated...For me District 9 should win! Great storyline (which Avatar lacks in), great acting, and perfect amount of CG. what else can be said...:)

  • Yes, District 9 is far better than Avatar.
