i am in the process of creating my own electric.

my question to you is did the electric company eventually come out and install a bi-directional meter or is it running backward all the time

Yes, in NYSEG territory, mechanical meters are replaced with electronic two channel meters that don't sping backwards. Legally I am allowed to turn the system on for a total of two hours and am allowed to "spin backwards" for two hours.

it's a step in the right direction, but not every house-hold has a solar panel or windmill. I would advocate more dramatic ways to impliment these things.

i know themselves are going to cost an arm and a leg + installetion same thing but on the long run, it's worth it and it's good for the planet...
