  • Don't make a promise you can't keep.

Be detailed and competitive about the process of returning an item for refund. Elaborate on warranties and guaranties on the web site as you have more space to work with.

  • I think this is a good concept in the course because we are interacting and using the newest technology that we are exposed of! and at the same time its fun and we can earn marks for it! Thanks Wtiger!!(Tim)

  • The internet fraud was very interesting, I am aware what to watch out for.

  • One thing i learned was how to steal a persons identity by stealing their credit card statements before they have a chance to get their mail. Although this could be used for evil, I think I will use the information to protect myself from potential identity theft. Also i learned that it is important to use separate business for domain registration and site hosting.

  • I learned a lot in this course. The most important was that there are many ways of making money using the internet as a tool. I learned that this is not always safe and you must always practice safe internet habits.

  • i learnt how useful YouTube can be in teaching students... i may have not commented on all your videos but i have watched them and i think other professors should follow and also post "post-lecture" notes or videos as students can get further understanding of material and also interact with the professor and other students using the YouTube comments....

  • This semester has been filled with a lot of practical information and information that you wouldn't even believe is true. I recently received an email from a Prince from Africa that wanted to hide $34 000 000 000 and give me 40% if i helped. I instantly thought email filtering and the many scams we learned about.

    Great class !

  • $34 000 000 000 wow. let's go.... that would buy, like a whole new Leafs team....

  • it's NOT hard to earn marks. you just need to participate. pretty much takes common sense to do. just make it easy for richardson to find you on the class list!

    S Kassam - MRK619

  • Saima, yes "common sense" is important

  • One of the things this class taught me was the importance of Search Engine ranking, and the importance of monitoring all aspects of this so that your website will attract more customers.

  • After taking this course, I know a lot more about e-commerce that I wasn't even aware of before. I have to say that the most important thing I learned from listening to Tim was how to stay safe in a world where our privacy is becoming more and more limited. Recent technologies are allowing us to better interact with each other, but unfortunately we are more exposed to thieves looking to snatch our identities or credentials. Make a strong effort to protect your personal info!

  • "we are more exposed" yes, be alert, thanks for noting this

  • One thing that I learned in this semester is using the program, Netscape, to create my storefront. I had fun playing around with the program in building my website. It was overall a user-friendly and simple to create a simple website. Another interesting thing that I found was the pay-per-clicks advertisements. The more times you press on their link from Google, that company gets charged for every click. A good way to increase their expenses.

    Leo Chow - MRK 619

  • dreamweaver is popular, but netscape is VERY easy as you said leo, and free to download anywhere

  • Through out the semster all learned about e-commerce, the benefits, privacy, podcasting, online communities and domain name which can help me in future job.

    Romia K. MRK619

  • One thing I learned about that kind of stuck with me the whole semester was building a webpage. I didn't know that you needed to register your domain AND get someone to host it, although it may be provided together. It's still usually good to separate them just in case one of them experiences problems.

    Clemens K. MRK 619

  • "usually good to separate them just in case " - good point Clemens

  • Yes, its super important to watch what personal info you post online. So Last Initials are a must. Be Careful.
