Near at the end of this video, this talks about the 1986 movie Crossroads, true this movie is in some ways about Robert Johnson life, but in lot of its about Robert's Friend, that this movie talks About, this man i believe Robert Johnson talks about in 1 of songs, the man in the movie,is posseably the person who sold his soul, not Robert Johnson?Thats what i believe.
just because jimmy played a wicked guitar doesnt mean he was influenced by robert johnson. erick clapton did cover robert johnson which would constitute that he was influenced by mr johnson.
robert johnson dont sell his soul because there is no soul to sell and there is no devil to buy, he is a example of a art life, he gives his lifetime to art and art he made.
hahahaha wow guys I posted this for a class my sophomore year in high school; I never expected to get so much popularity!!! Just to clarify, YES he had 41 recordings, 29 songs, (I HAVE THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS) the picture at the end is NOT of the UN building, nor is it of the Louvre... it is the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland...
you didnt expect to see so much popularity? Wow, yeppers its huge, bigger than ever now, world wide Blues accosiation's, even on tiny Islands, in the 70's there was a brief drop, but as you can see now, it recovered nicely. quit a few kids playing and are getting good at the traditional type. so it will stay alive for sure! i suppose the internet plays a big part too these days. great job you did here, ((( Claps )))
Robert Johnson- great voice for the blues, great songwriter, and no one can get more out of a guitar than he could. He's considered the greatest blues artist ever, and blues is the foundation of rock and roll...
However, to clarify Robert did have a remarkable ear. However, that is also something that is developed. Stop trying to make this into something it is not.
I knew Johnny Shines who traveled with Johnson. The main thing he said about Johnson was that he never had a guitar out of his hand. Can you reach inside yourself and sell your soul? Absolute foolishness. Robert Johnson did what any great musician has to do; he PRACTICED.
i swear i'm not making this up.the so called sell yourself to the devil goes like this.the devil can do you favors and in return you must do him favors as well(usually very wicked unspeakable things)and you're never happy and famous and all the glamour that people imagine, its darkness. some sorcerers can enslave devils to work for them when sorcerer gets old weak, devils are able to break away by killing the master usually by strangulation,i knew of one. as for jhonson i don't think he sold he
his soul, but rather the story was convenient in a back then superstitious america to explain a sudden climb to stradome,it's just a folk story. i think his success in blues was due to his harsh life that nourished his soul, his long skinny accurate finger (eric clapton find it hard on his fingers to play some of jhonson tunes) he was talented not develish
When you believe in anything without some form of healthy amount of skepticism.then you leave yourself open to be fooled.Like by the David Koresh,Jim Jones and Heavens Temple type faiths.Combined, 974 commited sucide following blind morons like this zombie Victor.
as it goes johnsons death is'nt much of a mystery his sister did an interveiw in the 80's whitch said he was poisend (probly that whiskey bottle he was given) all-though he recoverd from that whilst ill he got pneumonia (i think that is how you spell it) and died of that in his sisters house....and his brother pawned his guitar in the 40's for somthing like $5! gutted
I agree..and what a travesty that so many gifted people in blues music meet this kind of end. my grandfather was a bluseman from Georgia who passed his guitar on to me when I was 9 years old. When he died of whiskey, I swore to play gut bucket, head cutting backwood swamp voodoo blues ever since.

Yeah! I think Hendrix listened to alot of Robert Johnson. And Voodoo Chile isn't a Muddy Waters/ Delta Blues song. Turn off your pedals and just play raw and dirty.
Hendrix probably didn't hear Johnson's music until the mid-60's, when he already was a pro-musician. So he might not have been influenced by Johnson at all.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
jimi hendrix probably never heard robert johnson at all i can tell you that now for sure his influenced more but what was heard on the radio at the time all the 50 country and rock n roll n blues
jimmy did. After the folk revival of the 60s all the performers knew who was who and who the legend was. he grew up listening to blues while you were still desperately trying to penetrate an egg for your immaculate self to enter this world. leave
I know what that building at the end really is... It's CHUCKIE CHEESE"S WONDER EMPORIUM!!!
