im sorry but even back then i hated this movie. i thought replacement killers was alot better. i love chows hong kong movies though.... yes.... Hard boiled.
What is the title of that old taiwanese song ? And how can you see me? Can you see me now? J/k! But seriously, What is the title of that old taiwanese song ?
This is a film Jet Li should have been in. He would have fit in real well with the rest of the character, especially if he was one of those quiet types in the gang. Doesn't say much, but still kicks butt when he's mad.
This film was just put together better than Romeo Must Die but they both had some good plots. This film is like a pure drama version of Rush Hour, but without any slapstick comedy to the action scenes. It's cool seeing Chow in this film. A bit sharper switch from Crouching Tiger and Bulletproof Monk. He shows he can mix it up a little, put him in the ancient China scene then transfer him to the modern era and he still just as good! Chow Yun Fat like Shaft in this movie! He don't take no mess!
i think it was made to shine more light on the asian gang scene and the effects it has on the communities of large citys... theres always black gangstr movies. so i think there trying to kato to everybody in a sence.. rush hour is more of a antasy comedy this movie was very realistic to the asian gang community..
i remember i was 16 back when this shit came out n all the chinese gangster kids in high school would follow this movie like it was the bible.. the hair styles of the gangsters in this movie the way they dress... they did the movie prety good cause most of the asian gang members down here even in canada were dressing like that an into the same shit... all us 16 year old chinese youth just wanted to be like them..
dude chinatown is the pussiest place in the world...they dont do shit there...there are no hardcore gangs there....the only thing illegal they smuggle are fireworks...yes fireworks...
serious??!!! man we all idolised his character bobby vu down here since we were kids.. wed all scream UNCLE BENNYY!!!!!!!!!! at school and shit all day
did you know the that the movie the corrupter was based off of a real life event the fukinese dragon was sopose to be a gang called BTK Born to kill it was a veitnamese oraganized crime, Bobby Vu was a guy name Tommy Vu and the informant was tien Ngo Look it up it a true story
Yeah, they mention that on the commentary, as well as the documentary. I'm not sure if the Platinum Edition DVD is even available now, but it was fantastic. Damn good DVD. If you ever come across a copy, snatch that bad boy....
Otherwise, it's the lame-ass New Line Double Feature edition, where it's packaged with New Line's butchered Rumble in the Bronx.
If you ever wanna know about BTK and the whole corrupter thing there a book called BTK (Born To Kill) Vietnamese organized crime anyways its a good book way better then the movie the corrupter ^_^
corrupter is based on the acual chinese organisation on nyc streets back in the 90's.. there is a group called da fook dragons.. vietnamese is a hole diffrent category.. chinese pride man not viet pride
@aznhalferboy what with this chinese pride stuff? didn't know people still do that lol. Anyways The character in and story line is way to similar to the Born to Kill gang event which happend in New York. go read the book and you'll see what I mean
haha man i dont mean no offence. i was just sayin chinese pride cause im chinese n most guys i know watch this kind of movie is chinese not viet n the gang banger down here even in van dress and act very simular and are enemy with the viet so some may take offence to u making the simularity when the two families are very much at rival...
the movie is very simular to our city ..ppl owning body massage parlur with under age wimon brought in from china i even know a few ppl who own these places , what im saying is this situation is very simular to what acualy happens with the chinese in the gangland everywere everyday... the fokanese dragons r real in nyc and were acualy a real big problem around that time..
maybe theres a realy big chance they made this movie to shine some light on these things, most ppl dont even have an idea these things are happening...
i would waaaaant to read a book about what your saying but iunoooo :) go to my profile and read the about me part and youll laff hahah
@aznhalferboy People don't see this happening because they don't look for it, once you start looking for it or at least become part of it, its like a whole new world just open up. Anyways I wouldn't recommend anybody go looking for it, I like watching the movies but in reality I hate gangs.
But yah for real man, Go read that book even if its about a Vietnamese Organized Crime in NYC, The leader of the BTK was actually in a Chinese gang before he created his own.
The Killer's fucking brilliant, and I LOVE Full Contact. Great movies. And the director of Full Contact, Ringo Lam, made City On Fire and Prison On Fire. In fact, Fortune Star Entertainment just put out an awesome three-disc box set with all the "On Fire" movies, digitally remastered and everything.
Yay i can't wait to get it lol but i get burned movies. but its still good since it comes with the real deal like all the bonus material i really love john woo and ringo lams movies its looks so good in trailers and the real thing it the prize.
Hahaha. That's cool, man. But, yeah, that three disc set is fantastic. They same company released a three-disc A Better Tomorrow set, each digitally remastered. The bonus features are shit, but the transfers are great, and they have the original Catonese Mono tracks; not those cheap 5.1 remixes.
Chow Yun Fat is still hot even though he's almost 60.
