  • I exist to listen to porpupine tree.

  • Fucking magnificent.

  • Gavin is a genius for doing a straight beat over that first riff.

  • Is it just me or do their live shows always sound a bit thin compared to their studio stuff?

  • These guys don't play musical instruments, they were born with unique appendages.

  • I wish I could buy a seperate dvd with only footage of Gavin playing.

  • This is Amazing

  • my friend misread the song title as 'fear of a blanket'

  • Am I the only one who thinks that John's voice is fucking amazing?

  • If you like Porcupine Tree and Opeth, check out Amorphis! Amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • The boy in the lyrics obviously hasn't heard of Porcupine Tree before, the cure against all suffering! :)

  • Absolutely the best band on the planet. There is no question.

  • 3:53 and 5:19 amazing fills.

  • @zombyfart amen. people like portnoy because he has a big drumset and uses a double bass. he is what any amateur player who has got their first double pedal aspires to be like. gavin, on the otherhand is just subtle and classy, something i find so much more impressive.

  • I think Porcupine Tree is the best band that has ever graced the earth. I have never seen this much musicality in the songs and the performances in any other band.

  • @Johnpjm Check out Opeth, Cynic, and Meshuggah if you have an ear for the really heavy stuff.

  • @Str8Faced Fans of all three - Opeth the most out of them.

  • Man Gavin Harrison has been my favorite for years now, I think I've started admiring his skills more than the likes of portnoy.

  • those guys are so beast.

  • Wilson is my new hero playing such a masterpiece!

  • this is a super band, only shame is that they overcharge the voice on cd, so it's mostly blunt on live 'cause the guy is not properly a singer, is more a guitarist, or more than that a guitar technician.

  • I LOVE THEM!!

  • Oh how I love the drum kit sound.

  • genius, all of them ... this is music ¡¡¡¡

  • "The Pills I've been taking" , I think thats a reference to the shit we are fed by the media , it relates back to "X box" ,its not refering to bipolar disorders at all

  • @patthewoodboy Well, the lyrics also mention prescription drugs. I'd say it's literal. But's all part of the bigger picture of state of modern youth.

  • @AeacusCanti Could be literal , love interpreting lyrics , we all have our own ideas :)

  • Gavin Harrison is the man!

  • "My friend says he wants to die, He's in a band, They sound like Pearl Jam, The clothes are all black, The music is crap" what does he mean??

  • 3 living in the blank planet

  • I saw Richard playing with Japan in a university auditorium in Brussels , his keyboards where and still are rather good :)

  • I can't believe 3 people dislike this, they must be teletubbies or something D:

  • They should make the fifth guy on stage a full-time member in the band, his vocals work perfectly.

  • Have always loved this song but I can't help but wonder about the lyrics and how they attack such things as mental illness and prescription medication. Obviously the lyrics are a commentary on how Steven views the younger generation and, I'm sure in a lot of cases, his opinions are true but it seems like he's writing off and making light of bipolar disorder which, in reality, is a serious brain disease that causes huge amounts of suffering for anyone involved.

  • 1:32 never herad a riff based around an octave sound so heavy

  • good drummers can come up with a new and unique drumfill

only gavin harrison can come up with a new and unique drumfills on a whole live dvd...

    good singers sing perfect live

Only Steven wilson sings better live than in the studio

good bassplayers can play flawless live

only colin edwin can play flawless and look so freaking laid back

richard barbieri, you are more than just a keyboard player. You can produce so many sounds live and create the most beautiful atmospheres

  • @MrRandompower amen.....

  • @MrRandompower Ehm dont know about the Steven part. I just got here from a Pain Of Salvation live vid and that Daniel guy can hold a note live pretty well. But I love the Steven/Wesley harmonies live.

  • @PennyDreadful1 yea youre right! i really like steven wilsons voice but daniel gildenlow is to me the best singer of all time.

I guess i kinda overstated just becouse its a PT video :P

  • At 0:01, doesn't the image on the screens look like the puppet from saw???

  • das isch hammer

  • Gavin Harrison Monster drummer of all time!! I just watched this over 10 times! I want to sell my drums after watching him on numerous videos. Amazing!!!

  • I listen to lots of other bands, but in the end very few things hit me like PT! It's almost ridiculous!

  • Holy shit.The Rhythm at 4:25.Perfection.

  • The keyboardist looks like Bill Hicks

  • If you listen well you hear a lot of different fills and licks. Though some of them are easier to hear, there are a lot of subtle fills and licks that are equally hard to play. In my opinion, the whole drum track is difficult, not just some fills

  • puñeteros anuncios, ya hasta en youtube, manda coj.....

  • Which dvd is this?

  • @beastDw666 Anesthetize Live in Tilburg 2010

  • @BethQareen tnx :)

  • The thing that makes any of those fills sound so difficult, is mainly just the voicing he uses, he places his strokes on many different cymbals or drums in the fills making them sound amazing and much more complex than they actually are.

  • Im not a drummer, but i would say the hardest fill is at 3:52

  • @RjJena It's also hard, but the hardest it's the last one. Trying to keep the time is really tricky

  • Shit. My computer broke and I could not listen music for a few days, and now I'm hearing this, and I feel like I'm coming back to life :D

  • @rubencortes listen from the CD :D

  • son los mejoresssssssssssss

  • Can't determine whether I listened to the CD version or a live show. Which is awesome.

  • Epic.-

  • Where was it recorded?

  • Where was it recorded?

  • @jcguemo1 Tilburg, Netherlands. off the anesthetize dvd- awesome gig

  • Two words!!

  • This DVD is incredible.

  • Perfection!

  • Perfect.

  • something happened to his ear monitors, he took it off...3:21

  • this song is awesome... how can i say any more?

  • can't get enough of this song!

  • How......How it says live but I don't believe it's perfect

  • This is literally note perfect.

  • damn thats an insane audince they caught that the guitar intro is in 1/8th notes not triplets...

  • @drumswhilegolfing101 Well, when the drum kicks in you immediately hear it's 6/4 so it's not that difficult to hear. And besides, it are Dutchmen we are unbelievably intelligent. ;)

  • @olpaxis and then 4/4 in chorus and then 5/4 in bridge then again 4/4 :D

  • @Euphorion314 Yeah, the 5/4 part is by far my favourite part of the song. The whole tension and bass with a shitload of distortion. Awesome, Wish that I have written that piece...

  • @olpaxis arrangment plays main role in their music . all these sounds they create . It's not difficult but instruments are prefrectly similar to others instrument ;) its a kind of magic or just genius of Steven Wilson ;D

  • Steven has some of the most amayzing players around him,and if they wanto bethere then it can only be because they want to be there.

  • Gavin Harrison also play for King Crimson.

  • Bloody brill, thanks much bigly warlockriders.

  • The drummer is insane as the entire band. I really love these Heavy part of the songs. totally awesome, long live to Porcupine Tree

  • 1 person is a FUCKING DUSHBAG!

  • @TheMattmanmm i totally agree man, this is one of the best bands around with one of the best songs and performances yet someone out of over 27,000 views has the nerve to thumbs it down grr.

  • I just wonder... How can he sing at the same time as he is playing the verse at guitar? :S OFC! He is Steven Wilson!

    PT! <3

  • the drum fill at 4 24 HOLY WTF. NOT HUMAN

  • @dkmarine12345 NOOOOO!!! not that one! the hard one is at 4:55

  • Comment removed

  • @lumalav666 4:22 is harder

  • @lumalav666 Both are difficult! The first one is phrased very oddly, but that's the difficult part.

  • @dkmarine12345 no thats gavin harrison

  • @dkmarine12345 lol ever listened to Death? just for talking, even if super death metal still most progressive\aggressive drumline ever heard... if you figure out just a third of what Death do you can easily follow porcupine's tree drummer.

  • @Dynamitethedrummer HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Uhh no. Listen to Gavin harrisons Drum solos yo. Death IS NOTHING compared to this guy.

  • @DTxOctavariumx Death is pretty good though. Scavenger of human sorrow anyone?

  • This band is absurd....they are so good. Gavin Harrison created God on the 7th day.

  • Porcupine tree is a great band because of the way it sounds. Listen to the words no band is better with lyrics or instruments. DDAMMNN

  • thnx warlordriders for this beautiful HQ vid....but so few viewers... :((

  • Gavin Harrison :)

  • im in love with that guitar <3

  • Thumbs up if you're only here to see Gavin play his famous fill. I know I am!

  • 186 likes, 0 dislikes, lets keep the good ratings coming!

  • How can I be sure am here? The pillols that i have taking confuse me....EPIC

  • Porcupine Tree is amazing beyond what words can describe.... they're one of those bands where every member is unbelievably good at the instrument they play, which in my opinion is the greatest quality a band can have.

  • i love steven wilson... it's awesome that he write every song, its a genuis this album its f/&%& perfect!!

  • Gavin Harrisson, he's the best drummer I've ever heard

    He's the SO GREAT.

  • How would you classify this kind of music? I mean what kind of genre and so.. :) Is it Progressive? or?

  • @Ascommonas : Its part psych part prog in my opinion. If you ask me, right now PTree is better that Dream Theater on my list.

  • @vigneshs1980 Cool thanks! Yea Ptree is awesome! And so is DT. But I find it hard to compare DT and PTree.. Sure they're both prog.. But they're still very very different.. And on my list, they rank at the same place ;) At the moment..

  • @Ascommonas In my list Opeth and Porcupine Tree share the first spot with DT somewhere under ISIS and Devin Townend

  • my "go to" band since 1st hearing them 9 years ago

  • Lady Gaga: I was sent by God to give everyone good music to listen to.

Steven Wilson: I didn't send anyone...

  • Definately one of the best modern Progressive Rock bands, up there with Dream Theater and Coheed and Cambria thats for sure!

  • Gavin Harrison is the best drummer in the WORLD.

    he's SO GREAT AND AMAZING

  • Gavin Harrison is a phenominal drummer. I would give almost anything to take even one lesson with him.

  • where i can get this amazing dvd??????????

  • Brilliant stuff from a band I've only recently discovered (shame on me), thoughtful music played with real style and thought provoking lyrics, everything a prog rock band should be.

  • i love porcupine tree and really enjoy this song... unfortunately it is a good depiction of some of today's youth... what can we do about it? as a young parent i have to make it a point that this is not my child... fuck that!

    take good care and PeaCe2U...

  • I'm 20 and im gonna listen to this even if i'm 80 :D

  • How come I never heard of the guys until yesterday?

  • Not even 1 dislike :) But still the like bar is way to low compared to Steven Wilson's awesomeness.

  • Steven Wilson is a gift from god (and by "god" I mean Steven Wilson).

  • Just a perfect performance!

  • Gavin Harrison.

  • So fucking amazing. This song really captures the problems of some of today's youth.

  • this is one of the most well crafted and composed live music DVD's I've ever seen.

  • @ikt123 Ditto. I hope they come out with a DVD of disc one of The Incident. I saw them play that last year in its entirety. Simply jaw dropping. As for the glasses from another post, I've never seen them come off. But it seems Steven loses his earplugs every time he goes nuts.

  • The lyrics to this are amazing.

  • @qwerdfcvzxas It's meant to. If you read the lyrics he's speaking from the first person perspective of a teenager.

  • @qwerdfcvzxas :))

  • 4:55-58 Gavin's solo;D wow.. it was just 3sec??I feel the power!!!

  • Harmony Korine.

  • no comparison with the studio version, this is way much better... perfect *_*

  • In every PT live video, i just have to stand in awe of Gavin. The guy's unreal. The creativity, versatility and the technique to execute it all is just stunning.

  • Love the guys at 6,01 ;))))

  • My face is venlafaxine...

  • This is probably the only time I've ever seen a crowd clap in time

  • PERFECT

  • 3:52

    I choked on my coffee..

  • Nice quality. Thanks much for posting this. What an amazing band,

  • Genius!!!

  • how does he headbang without his glasses falling off ? xD

  • @ErrMalote maybe its superglued or sumthin.. lolss

  • @ErrMalote Because Steven Wilson is God, and he can do that if he wants.

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish

    He is a british faggot.

  • @qwerdfcvzxas You seem like you've done a lot with your life. You can't even manage a YouTube account properly. Kindly go fuck yourself.

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish

my glasses don't fall off when i headbang am i god now?

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish Amen to that!

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish He can also look like a 25 year old at 43.

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish Because he is Steven Wilson, he can do whatever he wants.

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish How dare you compare someone like God to Steven Wilson! Steven Wilson is so much better! You should be ashamed.

  • @SpelichHasADeathwish ANOTHER "God"? I officially consider the Internet Polytheistic... -_-

  • @ErrMalote I also headbang and my glasses stay put. It's just a question of fine-tuning the frame to your skull.

  • @ErrMalote Because he's Steven Wilson. That's why.

  • @ErrMalote hhahaah that was always my question too :)

  • @ErrMalote He's the Steven... duh.

  • @ErrMalote He's Steven Wilson, he can do anything

  • @ErrMalote He was born with the glasses on.

  • @ErrMalote He probably has a strap for them.

  • Brilliant !!!

  • salhiey dho.....xD
