If you are refering to just the two World Wars alone, the soldiers didn't die so that "everybody" would have freedom without fear of oppression as the Brirish "Empire" as it was known, was already an oppressive Imperialistic force during the period of both those wars. These rivalry's are very real and I think they should not be ignored. I also think that the two communities should not have to loose their identities. However, I think there needs to be loads more respect and tolerance by both sides. (If Britain had a Roman Catholic monarchy for the last 300 years, I think Ireland would still be 'united' as part of a Roman Catholic UK.) as far as im aware there is no law that makes you stay silent for a minute.... a moral choice maybe... but to start saying that people should be reported for this is way out of line... what would the charge be?
