  • This doc is in the one hand scarriest movie ever (for me), and in the other hand it's a one of the most beautiful story about life success.

    Philippe salute you!

  • haahahah, tippy top

  • I wonder if he walked on that wire in the morning of September 11, 2001...

  • @VideoUploaderTester Who even get's this joke?

  • @unitedmagicltd Some niggers, probably :)

  • @VideoUploaderTester They were french.....I don't find you amusing

  • well the American government made sure nothing like this could happen again

  • This movie is so unbelievably beautiful. When ever I'm sad or mad about little unimportant things I think about what Philippe and everyone involved accomplished and how wonderful it all was. Those people spent all that time helping one guy reach his dream... they were just in it for the adventure. And Philippe's urge to walk the wire from one tower to the other was so great that even fear of death couldn't stop him. Ahhh! I love this movie! If you haven't seen it WATCH IT! :)

  • this trailer did not even come close to portraying the intensity, stunning beautify, complexity, and sheer balls of this mans journey in the remotest sense

it is a beautiful film beyond any of its genere

it captivates, stuns, and lets your imagination run wild while you are watching it

  • downloading!

  • I always knew that Alexander DeLarge was a nutcase !!

  • boy if 911 happened while he was doing this it would suck balls big time.

  • @B789c

pretty sure 911 just sucks balls period, but yeah i know what youre saying

  • If you see no other documentry EVER..................See this one

  • no no no this video is NOT about the pitfalls of fame! it's about something beautiful and artistic and how it was received in america. it's about a man with an shocking, unusual, immensely moving passion after watching the movie, you will be surprised at how infectious his attitude is. he doesn't even have a reason, just the thrill of doing something exhilarating and beautiful. i can only wish to have a passion anywhere near as burning as petit's.

  • @303username you're exactly right.

without meaning to be disrespectful, it's ironic that a man with such an unwavering passion performs this amazing act between two buildings that are iconic for promoting routine rather than 'life'.

we look up to people who are 'famous' because they transcend our lives, but we only do it because it's not who we are.

your routine is not who you are

  • This documentary can be interpreted a couple different ways. For me it's about a self centered person (Philippe Petit), who uses friends and loved ones to achieve a goal. As soon as he achieves his goal, he cheats on his girlfriend and abandons those who put their ass on the line to help him achieve his goal. In his mind, he thought he was the greatest celebrity of all time after his walk. A premma donna unlike anything I've ever witnessed. It's hard to root for such an asshole.

  • @alwaysauthentic1 maybe you got 'cheated on' and you're using that to be bitter - the truth is it's not human nature to sleep with the same person your whole life so why get bogged down in that since it's only a bit-part in the story...

here is a man who has TRULY lived, regardless of what you think about the rest of him. just imagine if everyone had enough self-respect to be this passionate about life.

i think you're being bitter (and petty) because it mirrors your own experiences

  • @badintentions2 It has nothing to do with cheating on someone or being cheated on. Under the circumstances those people helped that asshole achieve his goal & he clearly used them. The irony in reference to his girlfriend was, as soon as he had his 5 minutes of fame she was expendable when she was part of the experience that helped him achieve his 5 minutes of fame. I don't care if people sleep around or cheat. I've cheated before & I'm sure someone's cheated on me before. Who cares?

  • @alwaysauthentic1 if you don't care about that part of it then why is it so hard for you to appreciate what he did?

i haven't heard you acknowledge that yet...

and it was hardly a 5 minutes of fame - it was much more symbolic than that.

it epitomised the freedom we all want to feel in our lives at some point, but most of us won't let go of our apartments and other material possessions to chase it

  • man, just watching him sway with the wind up there makes my palms sweat.

  • is that a bird, it that a plane, yes and it just crashed into the building! fiddlesticks!

  • Anyone see that southpark with the trailer voiceover......THIS SUMMER......

  • watch this for free by travelling back in time and looking up.

  • not even chuck norris could fuck with this!

  • lol, I am laughing on how some people think this is about 9/11.

  • perhaps the best documentary i have ever seen.

  • yeah thats a great mr. petit aint it. try playing wow for 6 years straight, thats a fucking accomplishment

  • oh will you all stop going on about 9/11 please!?!?!? This was even before the actual event -.-

I think this looks great but I can't find it anywhere to rent =(

  • The documentary was absolutely beautiful, but this trailer makes it seem like typical hollywood shit.

  • Now that looks like pure CHEESE

  • i toast to IDIOTS!!!

  • you all suck...ur knowledge is dumb ass...!

you come here to talk about bulidings??>...wtf??

  • It is fitting that the French, who gave the USA the Statue of Liberty, should also make it clear to people the strength of their monuments. Thank you to the courageous citizens of France.

  • 9/11 Truthers are here too? Damn,it's just a video about a guy wanting to walk inbetween 2 of the tallest bulidings in New York, the U.S.,and the World. Truthers need to get a life and start coming into the outside world.

  • what trailer music in the end

  • Now that is BADASS!

  • Clearly the man has too much time on his hands. LOL Awesome!

  • Great Movie ! He is the MAN !

  • I totally envy all those that had the rare opportunity to witness this incredible stunt that was preformed by an extraordinary this man.

  • If I was placed on a tight tope in between the two towers then I would just fall out of fear...

  • The trailer is noisy, but the film was reflective, smart, intelligent - not noisy.

I loved the film, but I don´t like the trailer.

  • how could u make a whole movie outa this? i just wanna see a few second clip of a man walking on the rope on youtube and i'd be satisfied.. not the whole movie

  • @Spagoochy Yes but it was the genius and planning that made this so special and the intent :o

  • great film. absolutely awful americanised trailer.

  • that trailer music from whale rider uk trailer

  • is this a movie about french food?

  • @poops1 you're just as dumb as your name

  • Those buildings are built strong!!!! Look at that!!!

  • HERP DERP LET'S ARGUE ABOUT 9/11 BECAUSE THAT'S TOTALLY RELEVANT TO THIS FILM DERP.

  • What an awful trailer. Are they really trying to pretend this is an action movie? The trailer is cheapening what is an inspiring film - watch it.

  • Magnifique documentaire pour un instant de beauté et d'une grande poésie

  • i love how just because this movie has to do with the twin towers, everyone goes on a rant about 9/11. Fucking losers.

  • great film and amazing sound track

  • world trade centre was an inside Job

george bush is the biggest terrorist alive

  • @zaydzapper Get off the internet, you spend to much time on it.

  • @zaydzapper word, i agree

  • Comment removed

  • Please does anyone know the name of the song playing??

  • nice

  • Anybody know the name of the music that starts at 1:02?

  • You guys who think its about 9/11 WATCH THE REST OF THEFUCKING VIDEO BEFORE YOU COMMENT OUT OF YOUR ASS ABOUT FACTS THAT YOU DONT KNOW ARE TRUE YET! What Would Youtube be without abunch of stupid retards.... Yeah I said STUPID RETARDS. That means that these people are STUPIDER THAN RETARDED PEOPLE

  • @ENDORPHINSAM The movie is not about 9/11 but it gives you an intimate sense of the buildings and how heavilty and carefully they were built. The movie shows clearly that a fire at the top of the towers would not make them fall out of the sky, which is completely absurd. It makes it the more clear they were blown up. The movie shows love for these landmark buildings.

  • @Joeey I used to think like you; everyone told me fire cannot melt steel.

It can't. But it can weaken it.

  • @ericleb01 You need to talk to some military officers. Nobody is pansying around about weakened steel.

  • @Joeey Pansying around about weakened steel? Please, what more of an explanation do you want? There are independent studies on the matter which explain it quite clearly. And what do military officers have to do with this?

  • @ericleb01 I am so glad you replied; I was just thinking about you. It is like you have given your mind to putty. Those building were blown up with great force, high tech and direct decision making. Why do you hide from this? Military officers? The head of the military training college just went postal making some very specific claims who did 9/11 and he wasn't talking about Arabs. Let me tell you something, if you cut the top out of a tree, the bottom of the tree does not fall.

  • Your logic is very faulty. You have no evidence that explosives were used. As an atheist, I consider myself a skeptic, and without evidence, I cannot rationally come to your conclusion.

If a chemist told me the theory of relativity was wrong, it doesn't change anything. He isn't a specialist in the domain. Same logic applies to military officers: AFAIK, they have no evidence for 9/11 either.

It wasn't the top, it was about 2/3. If I burn there, most above and below it will eventually weaken.

  • @ericleb01 Pardon but you talked like an air conditioned college student who has never used a cutting torch or worked with steel. It is of note that you dismiss the many workers and firefighters describing explosions. I wonder what is the stimulus to you, to stick with the propaganda story. Every military planner in the world knows what happened and who did it. Rumsfeld even referred to when a missile went into the Pentagon. But you are going to tell about a plane? The plane that is not there?

  • @Joeey Air conditioned college student? No, I'm just 16, but I seem to have a better education than you, especially if only vocabulary convinces you of that. Every military planner knows who did it? Oh yeah? Then it's funny how many people actually believe your conspiracy theory. You know, because if every military planner knew, then you would suppose that the evidence provided would make your theory fact.

Oh wait, there is no evidence. It's just another conspiracy.

  • @ericleb01 Okay. I get it now. You are an arrogant 16 year old who literally knows everything. You're also Canadian. No problem there, but you might be less arrogant is some of your Canadian buildings were blown up and a bunch of your Mounties were killed. Yes, you might be less arrogant and distant like Star Trek. If you ever do study university physics, you will not use terms like "many papers" and "it's so simple." Killing people is not simple. Morally, there is nothing simple about it.

  • @Joeey

its simple cut there throat or shop there head off nothing to it, only the weak have morials

  • @ericleb01 Allow me to correct myself, if you strap on your climbing boots and go up 100' in a 150' tree and cut the top third off, the rest of the tree still stands. Those who remove trees know this. Please look up history of fire and steel buildings. You can immoliate them in flame from top to bottom and the steel does not fall down. Not once, not ever. And there are plenty of examples. You use explosives to bring buildings down. When you cook on stove, does the steel the pot is on "weaken?"

  • @Joeey Yeah, the rest of the tree stands because the 1/3 of a tree is not heavy enough to bring down an intact 2/3rds. But we aren't talking about trees. We're talking about buildings. Specifically the one-third of a building weighing 150,000 tonnes, with fire burning metal to a point where it can't hold the 50,000 tonnes above it. Therefore it crumbles, and per basic physics, gravitational acceleration causes the floors below to crumble along with it.

Many papers explain this. It's so simple.

  • @ericleb01 I clearly suggest that you are being paid to distribute this misinformation. Have a good day.

  • @ericleb01 PS Dear Eric, Please get back to me after you get a moral education or otherwise make the break from childhood and become a man who knows the value of moral principle. Such a man will not trivialize the death and suffering of other people. Take care and enjoy the summer. Joeey

  • @Joeey Paid? Haha, I wish! It's fun countering your types of arguments, and seeing people walk away when they have nothing else to say. Hey, if ever there is a job op available, feel free to contact me, okay?

Arrogant now as well? Well, that's definitely judging a book by it's cover. Although, your perspective doesn't seem to be quite deserving of the ability to issue judgments, seeing that you resort to ad hominem instead of tackling my arguments.

The last part of your comment makes no sense.

  • @Joeey Trivialize the death of other people? I'm sorry? Aren't you and the "9/11 Truth Movement" the ones using this event as a gateway to spread your theories, in order to make your government look sleazy? If anything, the table turns toward you.

It's funny how I originally got into this 9/11 bullshit when I was eleven.

  • @ericleb01 Continue your disrespect, young man. Build your karmic foundation. When all the world is a joke to you, you may find the joke is on you. Let me leave you with one lesson. Do not generalize people and combine people to your fantasy. Do not tell someone expressing an observation that they are part of a movement, subsumed and categorized in your arrogant mind that is too intellectually lazy to sort anything out while making hand gesticulations about knowledge, superiority and physics.

  • @Joeey Yeah, the world is a joke to me, yet I'm so fascinated by it that I aspire to become a physicist. Yeah, I'm generalizing you because I said you believed in this 9/11 conspiracy. And yeah, I made those hand gestures about physics, knowledge and superiority, not because I UNDERSTAND it, but because they are categorized in my lazy and arrogant mind.

Stop replying to my comments please. The last thing I want to accomplish today is to lose an IQ point talking to you, treating me like a child.

  • @ericleb01 The government does a fine job of making themselves look sleazy on their own accord. Nothing anyone can say, could make them look any worse.

  • @Joeey

america doesnt know what morals are dipshit.

  • @Joeey Bulidings aren't trees smart one.

  • @Anon7771 In respect to physics and removing either heavy tall tress and WTC towers, there is much commonality, Wise Swami. You really need to wake up and stand up for your fellow citizens that were made victims on that day. You may have noticed your entire country is dysfunctional and under great stress ever since the day the USA was told The Magic Story.

  • @Joeey Bulidings are more hollow, and don't have the same properies of trees, unless they were made of wood.

  • @Anon7771 That's the point. These buildings are not hollow, they each have 24 vertical steel beams that are each 4" thick. You are spreading misinformation and lie.

  • @Joeey No. The World Trade Center was 95% Air. Was strong, but lightweight and hollow for space and less supplies. Trees have Layers of Wood in them, and have little space. I rest my case.

  • @Joeey The fire didn't burn for almost 2 hours, and it didn't touch the steel fireproof.

  • WTC Rest in Pace....

  • The message of this movie has NOTHING to do with 9/11. If you think that you are stupid. 9/11 did not even happen yet. But if you want to make a blatantly obvious connection, yes both events took place at the world trade center.

  • @MyTrevorb: and to point out for "the dumbest people on the planet..." 9/11 wasn't just the WTC. "Americans" often forget that!

  • If they tried to do that today they couldn't because the towers were taken down by their own government! They like totally did, with like jet fuels not hot enough and stuff, and like no jews were at wok that day and shit like that! Its for real look it up, open your sheeple!

And dont reply getting mad at me because this tongue in cheek! Look that phrase up if you never heard it dummy!

  • I love you.

  • Beutiful documentary. it's funnt you know he survives because he's telling the story, yet the last part of the movie has such a great suspense feel to it.

They should make a movie out of this.

  • you guys are self centered morons!! i wish they would just disable comments on all videos because all that everyone does is argue and say some of the most childish things i have ever heard. People,... your comments dont matter to anyone. Why dont you just go out in the world and try to make a difference.

  • @jrmy198523

This is the best comment I have ever read on Youtube. Thank You

  • speak for yourself, lol. nah - i agree.

  • @jrmy198523 So you demand censorship? Then please do not call yourself an American because your values are the worst of Communist China and Communist Russia where people have no power and are ordered what to do. Making relevant commentary on YouTube is, in fact, to "go out in the world and try to make a difference."

  • @jrmy198523 How is it that you have benefited from the good of the US Constitution and then you complain, try to de-legitimize others and insist to limit free speech? Seriously, you are the problem with USA. You stand for nothing and your country is a broken wreck. Your citizens are all working long hours, working like fiends and getting little in return besides base survival and loads of stress. You, citizen, are the one who can fix it if you would awaken and see through the fog and mirrors.

  • haha you're just so stupid when you think 911 was an inside job

  • @ThalliKoran hey genius, do you even use any other source of information other than TV? if you do at least 30 min of your own research you wouldn't say that.

  • all you say that this something simple go fuck your self...because a frenchman is better than you americans you say stypid things...HE DO SOMETHING THAT ONLY GOD CAN DO IT..so simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stop arguing. This movie isn't about 9/11. This is a movie about a man with a beautiful passion who performed an extraordinary work of art. Something that can never be created ever again.

  • @katherinealbin I think that one of the intentions of the creators of the movie is to compare the beautiful passion of an extraordinary man with the sick, blind fanaticism of the perpetrators of the 9/11 massacre, regarding the same object (the twin towers). A film like that cannot be anything but symbolic...

  • @katherinealbin I know the movie wasn't about 9/11, but a powerful message can still be drawn by contrasting the two events. Both times, millions of people were staring up at the top of the Twin Towers in disbelief. One time they were captivated by fear. The other time, however, it was beauty.

  • @katherinealbin Except that this movie is profoundly historically important because it shows an extended and intimate view of these well built building. During the saturation propaganda of the BushCo era, the great unwashed think these were cheaply built buildings. Look up "Operation Mockingbird" to see how the US media echo chamber works. The head of the program said it is his great Wurlitzer upon which he can play any tune.

  • @katherinealbin it can , just at ground level. funny how easy it was to get passes though , great vid too

  • @katherinealbin It is entirely legitimate to recognize this movie as a rare and intimate evidence of how well built and loved were the WTC towers. There is much propaganda that they were cheaply built buildings. The opposite is true. Like the USA, they were built strong. They were brought down with explosives. Airplanes and fire do not destroy this type of building. They are built to withstand hurricanes, many times the force of airplane, etc. USA was savaged by a neocon cabal, used WTC for war.

  • @Joeey please shut up banging on. everyone knows it wasn't explosives

  • yeah, that's so mediocre. I walk on wire all the time and have a better life than him going on youtube everyday.

  • just watch it ;)

  • "iraqy" people?? that was one of the most stupid comment i have ever seen on youtube!

  • Comment removed

  • @Uteko95 where do you get your facts?

  • stop breathing my air. Troll

  • Oh, what a delightful human being you seem to be.

  • amazing

    a must see

  • I just watched this movie last night. Fantastic!

  • film was brilliant loved the french guy what a character 'eh?!

  • I just saw this movie today, i dont have words to express. Its amazing..

  • It truly is amazing.

  • one of the most inspiring movies i have ever seen

  • i think that peope arent looking at the 9 11 thing. the film shows how somethin/ someone can produce something that the whole (whole) world looks upon as something remarkable. the film hits a spot with emotions as you start to recognise the scale of it. great film

  • Its an awesome film but it loses its stop short of being perfect because they never actually filmed the walk itself. That is only shown in stills. I mean come on guys, you do all that work to create this incredible event....AND YOU DON'T FILM IT ????? Not one numbskull thinks to bring a camera for the main event ? HELLO !!!!!!!!

  • @texaspete66 They showed plenty of news/handicam footage of it, remember the shots looking up at him from the ground? And the helicopter footage?

  • incredible movie. this trailer makes it look awful - almost like a thriller movie. still amazing film

  • totally agree! how ridiculous, can't they see that they ar totally misrepresenting what the film is about? nothing to do with the artistic, deeply moving content of the film, which is genuinely outstanding

  • True. I hadn't even noticed before you mentioned it. That clip doesn't belong there. I think they made this whole trailer a bit too sensational by the way. Making it look like some action movie, missing the point of the actual film. Exactly what you say.

  • yah. What was the point of showing the clip of the plane? That's fucked up. It plays on America's 9-11 memories, which I think is wrong. But great film

  • It was an Australian plane, Qantas. It was in Sydney too.

  • The other trailer is more moving.

  • There is another trailer?

  • i can't wait to see this

it's being shown in manchester in spinningfields for free this week

    it looks fantastic.

  • this is a sort of doco, not hollywood blockbuster!

  • overly dramatic trailer music?

  • ive bought this man on wire dvd and the tale is incredible.

  • Indeed!..

  • its pussy cat dogs - boom headshot!

  • whats the music from 1:03 to 1:10?

  • nas documentary? or just re-an-acting what happeneed

  • It's both... there's original footage and reenactment.

  • This guy was on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and came across as just the biggest douche, arguing over a blown question. I really wanted to like him but I love what he did, but I can easily picture the douchiness being his primary quality.

  • Typo: "but I love what he did" should be "because I love what he did."

  • true story??? wtf when did this happen??

  • 1974.. It's like the first text that appear in the trailer -_- l2read

  • None of my friends have even heard of this movie, they have heard of a will smith movie where he throws a wale at a boat..personaly ide love to throw will smith at a boat face first..i found man on wire amazing more films like this should be made instead of more and more will smith movies which are bordering horseshit..

  • dimensionouter I think you are wrong! Will Smith is a flawless actor and his most recent movies reveal some really dramatic, interesting and humanly stories, that could teach one how to live his life!

  • i agree, they should make and show more movies like this. I can't wait to see it.

  • is it already out?

  • I just watched this movie last night. It was amazing; perfectly done, beautiful music, funny and touching. It gave me chills and had me tearing up...(the video of the Twin Towers being built was quite moving, as well as Phillipe's love of them) Phillipe is one of the most entertaining, passionate, unique individuals. WOW! A MUST-SEE!!!

  • no he didnt die

  • did he die?

  • Crazy Frenchmen.

  • This man is amazing!

  • one of the best movies ive ever seen

  • Mmm classic American press sending a fucking helicopter...

  • Not fucking funny!! Not even a little bit!

  • does anyone know what the music is 0.12 - 1.00 minute? i know I have heard before in a film or television programme...

  • just saw it tonight, is amazing! And, if anyone knows what the piano piece at the end, when he is going between the towers, please post! I think it's a Michael Nyman

  • Satie - Gymnopedie (one of them - perhaps the third)
