First of all let me say I love EVH, massive inspiration, greatest rock guitarist ever, just bought one of his signature guitars, I love the dude. I knew he was really fucked up for a while but not until I saw that he had drilled massive couch screw type do-hickeys into the body of his guitars to hold the lead did I realise how far he had fallen. Dude this is totally Ed! I was at the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas concerts, front row in 2004. Ed was all over the place during his solo, just playing random shit.  A lot of it on the clean channel just noodling around and then just stopping. And that's definitely his voice. He's had that slight slur ever since he had tongue surgery for cancer years ago.
