@darionw, met him this 9th July 2011 in Lisbon, gave him my DMC 1998 Paris entrance ticket, to give me an autograph. He was really surprised and even took a photo and published on his tweeter ;)
that was a stunning performance at 16 but he was better in 1998 than in 1997...
but only 3rd place in 1998 and 1st place in 1997 : find out the mistake...
crazy b never was DMC champion and his technic was a little bit better than A trak, especially in 1997... dmc champion just because of his very young age, why not ;o)
Yea it's good for the first 10 seconds, I don't see the point in that style of djing,, hardly gonna fill a dancefloor with scratching sounds, , but fair play to him all the same!
@DAVIEbrudjk the point of turntablism competitions is not to fill dancefloors but win and take home the trophy. It's the same as saying that a pianist at a piano competition or a singer at a singing competition will hardly fill a dancefloor with piano playing or singing.
Club DJing is completely different from turntablism.

All the face-making and posturing looks so, so juvenile.
If I heard a band that sounds as sloppy as most dj routines I would leave immediately. They often times sound like an inebriated drummer who forgot how to keep time.
Juvenile? The dude is only 16 in this vid. What were you doing when you were 16? I mean, besides masturbating to JC Penny catalogs and buggin' your dad for your allowance. This kid was a DMC champ before he could drive.
This style of dj'ing requires more skill and rhythm than club dj'ing by a longshot. And I'm a 10+ year club dj. I've heard drummers that couldn't keep rhythm like this.
First time I saw him mix was @ UnderPressure ONE, a graffiti convention in Montreal, his hometown. He was maybe 13-14.. 1996. Great Dj to ear/see spin the wheels of steel.
In that time, man those cutz were fresh as hell.. I mean they still dope today but more people no the combos of scratches... for 98 he def killed it for real.
The first two minutes or so isn't too good. But everything after is really awesome. Too much beat juggling for a Worlds routine though. Just my opinion.
his fader fell off... :(
