well here's a winning arguement for this last question, why dont 35 or juniors get the same amount of prize money than? like it or not it is im men where the absolut best tennis possible to be played is... so how come a man makes the same money when they would give a 6-0 / 6-0 to any woman any given day ?!

Women shouldnt get equal pay coz the level of tennis they play will always be inferior to the mens game. Look at the rankings now. Any woman from #1 to #8 can be the #1 player from tournament to tournament and there is a big gap between the top 20 and the rest of the field. You rarely see big upsets in the first 3 rounds with women. Competiiton there is watered down. The women's game is prone to more unforced errors than men too. Thats why their level of play will always be inferior.

At first I thought equal pay was not fair for the men who play so much more, so much harder. Then there was a quote from Serena that changed my mind. She said when she was kid, she trained just as hard, worked just as hard if not more than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

McEnroe is a legend but i disagree with him on the equal pay thing. Women should get paid less money than men; they play less. The guy on the phone was right. You'd be annoyed if someone did less work than you but got paid the same. Tennis is a job so you can compare. Women should play 5 sets now though- they're more than capable. Let them play 5 sets and then give them equal pay. That's fair (and i'm a woman!). I'm going to stop now. Thanks for uploading btw!

if women played best of 5 sets for 2 weeks, it would be the worst quality tennis any1 has ever seen

the women's game still lacks depth, so many girls would just tank the 3rd set b/c they'd know they could never win 3 sets in a row against a clisters or henen, after losing the 1st 2 sets 6-1, 6-2 - it would look pathetic

and larger players like serena would never last under the aussie sun by the time she reached the semis/finals

the fans would suffer and prob force it back to 3!

I love Mac, but he's wrong to say that the absurdity of equal pay in tennis is a "tired argument". You can't have equality of pay without equality of competition. If women want equal prize money, great, but let's have the one draw. Let's see how equal everybody is then.
