First of all, witches don't believe in Satan...we don't believe in a hell. I should know, I'm a wiccan witch. Salem witch trials ARE serious! And this is just ridiculous!
Hello. Few comments: Yes, men were accused and even hanged as witches in New England. Salem was not the only place where people were persecuted as witches, but other villages in MA, in what is now ME. and in CT. The first woman recorded as having been hanged as a witch in America was Alice Young in CT, 1642. Yes, real life persecution is not funny. I had several ancestors hanged in Salem. I honor them by learning the true facts of the event, BUT this video is very funny!
Satire and the lampooning of terrible things are ancient, powerful and above all legitimate tools. They are socially cathartic, therapeutic, and universally accessible.
Do you know what the true sick joke is? It's that humans were ever such ignorant, superstitious idiots. An even sicker joke is that nothing has changed. Humanity is, by every measure, stupid. Until we can manage to outgrow that stupidity, it needs to be held up for ridicule. Viciously, every damn day.
they were certainly sad, but while some deal with that by trying to find humour in sad truths, those who prefer not to should simply not watch, and CERTAINLY not tell me what to watch.
XD Put away those papers! We need hard evidence here! I'm doing a report on this for Social Studies. And that is how it was like, and don't forget what they did to find out if you weren't a witch, the dunked you in water, if you survived after five minutes and you lived, you were a witch and had to be killed,
if you died, then you were innocent. WTF? Poor people.
thats not all they thought that witches had a spot that wouldnt bleed so they would take a needle and poke every little spot on your body to see if you bleed and if they found a spot that you didnt bleed or was lacking the blood flow you were a witch! they would also burn your feet with hot iron until you confessed
only women were hanged. in puritan society, women had very little power and were seen as satanic. only men could be priests and women were supposedly more likely to form pacts with the devil. its so ironic that they view women as satanic because only men could be priests because men were the ones who set that limitation. :P
In med school learned that many of the woman were going thru hot flashes from mid life crisis thus they would say they had the fires of hell in them -- I thought that folks were drowned as well or rather "dunked" until they died
I actually enjoy this show. They actually did that in those days to accuse someone of witchcraft and it's funny how people believed that idiocy! =) Thanks for putting this up! ^_^
Are we all watching the same thing here? Because Sarah Good is portrayed as a pretty logical, respectable figure. No fun is being had at her expense.
All jokes at the expense of the court and the accusers. It's a mockery of the court. Not the victims.
It's simply a story retold.

That is anything but funny. To make a mockery of anything so tragic is childish and heartless, above all else.
