  • looooooool

  • Love Michael's vocal!

  • Never realized how dope that beat was. Michael had great producers. His influence turned the other musicians around him into beasts.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , i'm sorry, but you are wrong!! Stevie did not write or produce this song.

Nobody but his great talent made him what he is. Of course, along the way, he was influenced and helped by other great musician, as Stevie, but he is what he is due to his talent.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : I am not going to argue with a MJ fanatic. Though I will admit I am wrong. Stevie Wonder didn't write this one. But it was produced by a chap named George Martin. Like I said if MJ produced all these songs name them. What songs. To say no one but MJ made him great is crazy. A song is more than just the artist performing it. The writer, The producer, The musicians, the marketing all makes the Artist great. Unless MJ did all that (Like Prince), he can't get all the credit

  • @TheSonsOfLight, it's crazy to say that the producers made MJ who he is. i said he was helped. of course MJ didn't do it all alone; the Thriller album would not have been the same without QJ, MJ always gave him credits for that. but nobody danced or sang for him, it was his talent that made him that big. he was not that kind of artist who was told what to sing or how to sing. he was very much involved in the creative process.

    .....

  • @TheSonsOfLight, just to name some songs he produced: Black or White, Heal the wold, TDCAU, Stranger in Moscow, Speechless, The Lost Children... and he got co-producer credits for most of his songs, including Billie Jean. he was not the greatest producer, but he knew what he wanted in a song.

and relax, i'm not that kind of MJ fanatic that would say he's the greatest and curse you if you don't agree. i was just trying to point out some mistakes you've made, with objective arguments (IMHO):-)

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Yes those songs I knew he wrote include We Are The World.most the songs he wrote you can tell.He has a particular style & sound in his writing. However if you look at his entire catalog those songs are a drop in the bucket. Most songs he is known for he did not write.Besides Black & White those songs are not what people play when they worship his talent. I never said he didnt produce or write his music. I was saying he was not Great because of his producing or song writing skills

  • 1. WAIT, i was talking about SOME of the songs he PRODUCED. i agree with u, the NUMBERS aren't impressive. if we talk about his songwriting skills, to say that in his "entire catalog those songs are a drop in the bucket" is totally unfair,if not completely wrong!!

pity you've deleted ur previous comments, 'cause you saying that he didn't produce is what made me reply. besides that, you saying "Like I said if MJ produced all these songs name them." makes me think you don't believe he produced.

  • @MJLoveYouMore :I deleted only one comment & thats the one were I said Stevie Wonder wrote "say, say, say," but I left the comment saying I was wrong the writer name is George Martin. Like I said when it comes to song writers & producers MJ is far from the greatest & not on my top ten list. Again thats my opinion.

  • 2. anyways, did you know that he is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame?? as of 2002 - if i remembers correctly the year... that's recognizing his songwriting skills!

the BIGGEST hits of his career, the ones that made him a world-wide superstar ARE written by him alone!!

that is: "Don't stop 'till you get enough", "Billie Jean" - his signature song - , "Beat it", "Wanna be startin; something", 9 out of 11 track of the "Bad" album (impressive??? - i am impressed...)

  • @MJLoveYouMore :when I see comments like MJ was the greatest Musician, Artist ever is insane to me. Better than James Brown? Better than Ronald Isley? I just don't see that as true. Maybe to a Pop audience, but no real Musician will ever agree with that. Most musicians I know prefer Prince over MJ, When it comes to Musical Genius someone like Patrice Rushen is greater than MJ. Thats all I'm saying. Maybe if you were a musician you'd understand the blasphemy in saying that

  • @TheSonsOfLight, Im gonna stop here, because no matter what I say, youre always gonna add a but and thats because you dont like his music, it doesnt suit your taste.

And you add that but without knowing his career in details, as Ive seen so far. When we talk about music, it all gets down to taste. I dont have objective arguments in a debate of this sort.

Im not a musician, but I dont believe there is a formula to determine what music is best. ....

  • @MJLoveYouMore : I never said I don't like MJ music. I love his music. He was my favorite artist as a child. He was a genius. I never took that from him. However I am a realist & a music historian in my own right. Any genre, music law, etc. I agree music is abou taste. but you can say that one artist is more skilled than the other. Depends on ya level of skill.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , Is best the one that touches your heart and joys your senses, thats what music is for.

MJ thought that James Brown is the best. I dont think there is an artist best above all the others, depends on ones taste.

  • @MJLoveYouMore :If I sing very well and make great records. Then the next guy sings just as well but also dances & plays the guitar. Then comes another cat that sings even better than both of us & plays guitar, drums,Piano, dances, writes all the songs & produces all the music.even mixes the album.Explain 2 me again how he is not a Better artist? Yes music is taste. But skill is skill. I love MJ but as an Artist he's no Issac Hayes or Barry White,Or Eddie Levert.Real talk from a song writer/producer

  • @TheSonsOfLight, 1. I honestly don't know how one determines who sings better. who has a better voice? Mariah, Celine, Whitney??i think Mariah can hit higher notes, but i personally prefer Whitney's or Celine's color, tho Mariah is awesome too.

i'm sure most musician would say Elvis has a better voice than MJ. as i see it, Elvis' is suited only for gospel, blues, Rock&roll, whereas MJ sang disco, rock, pop, gospel, R&B, hip-hop (in TDCAU)... who sings better?

  • @MJLoveYouMore : you dont know how to determine who sings better? ARe you serious? Just let them sing & you'll find out.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , i have let them sing and i can't tell. but i'm only the listener, i'm not a musician, who analyzes this in depth.

and i'm not talking about obvious cases: Britney vs. Mariah...

so who sings better and why? Mariah, Whitney, or Celine?

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Mariah, Whitney or Celine. I love all three. Neither is greater to me. Mariah has the ability to sing great if she wants. Whitney is washed up, but in her prime she was Better than Mariah. Celine is in another Music category, but I'd have to say Whitney, Mariah then Celine as far as skill. If Celine tried to sing a soul or R&B record i'm not sure it would sound good. lol Whitney & Celine use the same song writers also.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : I say Whitney has more soul than Celine thats why she sings better. Mariah is soulful when she wants to be. But it was effortless with the old Whitney. Its that Black Church upbringing. No amount of vocal lessons can beat that type of training.

  • @TheSonsOfLight, 2. I find Elvis awesome, but MJ's voice is the one that touches my heart and joys my senses.

i'm sure you've heard of MJ's collab. with Lenny Kravitz - Another day. LK wrote, produced and played all the instruments on that song. i am positive that MJ told him what he would want the song to sound like.

The same song, LK's style, this time called Storm, is on LK's album. well, the one that touches my heart and joys my senses is the version with MJ.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Elvis was garbage to me. He did songs over from earlier acts & made them sound corny to me. Again your argument is not valid. When it comes to song writing ,composing & producing MJ isnot in the top 10, or 20 for that matter. When it comes to Entertaining he was # ! !

  • @TheSonsOfLight , i was only talking about Elvis' voice, NOT his songs. i don't like his songs.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : I loved his songs > Elvis just remade good songs that were recorded by Black artist years b4. If you hear those same songs as originals you will be like. Oh man this is great. but Elvis voice was garbage 2. He was overated white dude. Whites are not held to the same talent scrutiny when it comes to music. They can have average vocal skills & be considered great. Where a Black artist is expected to have flawless vocals.another example of Institutional racism. Elvis was sub par

  • @TheSonsOfLight , Elvis was overrated, but his voice was great - i like his voice.

if you say this about him, i don't want to imagine what you would say about Britney or Madonna - 2 outrageously performers even to me.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Britney & Madonna are good artist. I like both of their music. But great vocals? Not.lol Just like Dianna Ross was an okay singer, same with Janet Jackson & Aliyah. They wasn't the greatest singers, but had great musicians, producers & song writers behind them. What made MJ different from all of those types is he was actually an amazing singer.

  • @TheSonsOfLight Yeah many of the ones you listed aren't very talented vocally, just good (not great except Janet) performers. They had an iconic essence that took them to the top.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , yes i think we agree on 1 thing: nobody does music as Black artists do.

if there is a characteristic specific to a race, the music belongs to the Black.

you are black, if i got it right, but i'm white and i completely & totally agree with you on this one.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : well glad we can agree. Agreeing is kinda cool.

  • @TheSonsOfLight, 3. is LK a better artist because he can play those instruments on the record?? i don't think so. i think he also writes, produces and plays all the instruments on his albums, but i don't find him a better artist than MJ just because of that (but i like some of his songs) and by now you should know why... :D

The finished product of this creative process is the song. if the song doesn't joy my senses, you are not a good producer/songwriter to me.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , 4. i can appreciate one's talent to play an instrument, but one has to play a song that I like in order to love the performance.

did Barry White dance? no - that i know of. that could be a minus for him. but he as awesome too.

    i haven't heard about the others you've mentioned-sorry!!

bottom line on a debate without objective arguments on my part: to me, a musician is skillful if their creation gives me goosebumps.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : didbt say Barry White danced. Try & keep up please. I am talking about song wroting & producing. We all know MJ was a great dancer Entertainer. He couldnt touch James Brown but he was great. as a song writer, composer & producer Barry White is better than MJ. Fact.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , you should try and keep up with what we're talking about here.

what now, being an ALL AROUND artist means only producing and songwriting??

i've already said MJ was not mainly a song-writer or a producer.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Yes my friend it means just that. All Around means everything. An all around musical artist sings, writes, produces, dances, composes etc. Thats called all around. There should be no argument with that. Some Musical Artist are great at one or two things. Some are great at all. Thats what truly makes one a musical Genius. Like the Greatest Basket Ball player has to have an All Around game to be the Best. Or he's just great in one thing.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , there is NO argument with that.

that's exactly why i mentioned Barry White didn't dance. not because you might have said he did, but because the fact that he doesn't could be considered a minus when trying to call him the best all around artist.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Oh I would never call Barry White the best all around artist. But he was damn close. All he was missing was dance steps. When it comes to the best complete artist people like James Brown & Prince come to mind.

  • @TheSonsOfLight ,5. am i shallow to prefer MJ? is that bad taste?

who's to say? maybe someone with different taste.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : what are you talking about? who said you were shallow? I don't even know you. & who said you have bad taste for liking MJ? I love MJ do I have bad taste? I just said he wasnt in the category of the greatest Producers & song writers to me.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , i didn't suggest you called me shallow or with bad taste.

    it was a rhetorical question.

to some, you have bad taste for liking MJ.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : Oh okay. Well anyone who thinks You have bad taste for liking MJ has no taste at all. lol

  • 3. "Black or White", "heal the world" , " will you be there" - the biggest hits of the "Dangerous Album"- , "Earth song", "They don't care about us", "Stranger in Moscow"... if people don't play these songs, i don't know what they play. these are JUST the most popular ones.

yes, he is not mostly a songwriter - meaning he didn't write many songs for others, if any, he doesn't read musical notes, but he definitely knows what a recording studio is about in all the details you want.

  • @MJLoveYouMore: furthermore, from 1979 to 2001 if you count the records he wrote or produced it pales in comparison to those written for or produced for him is all I am saying. Taking nothing from his talent, I just think others are greater but get no credit.

  • @TheSonsOfLight, From 79 to date, he has released only 6 studio albums. If you count the songs he has written or co-written, I guarantee you that the no. is way, way greater than the no. of the songs written for him. I guarantee you that!!

If ure gonna say that co-writing is not the same, dont!

I know that, but it doesnt mean his merits are smaller than of the one he has co-written with.

  • @MJLoveYouMore : actually co writing isn't the same. In most cases they give ideas to a more crafted writer to form.

  • @MJLoveYouMore MJ is Great & The King Of pop because of his Entertainment skills. Dancing, Singing, Style, Personality, & yeah he wrote & produced some songs as well. & he played a few instruments. Never on a record. But in real life. He was a genius. Its just people are exaggerating now that he's passed. When it comes to producing, song writing, & being an all around artist/ musician he isn't in the Category of Stevie,C. Mayfield,Prince,Smokey Robinson, Barry White.real songwriters & Producers

  • they are just blinded by the media. mj was a genius truly a genius quincy jones and the musicians who have worked with him said hes genius and its proven in his works.

  • yes! :)

  • well if they would talk bad things about him now, i think maybe you would be still moaning about that too, right? so i'm really happy now that they have been forgetting all these lies about him in magazines now.

    if you get my point.

  • @ElTorroOfLove Yeah it proves the point of ,"You don't know what you've got till it's gone."

  • This is awesome. Fave Duo song. Paul Mccartney and Michael Jackson were such a good pair. They shoulda done more.

  • What cracks me up about alot of MJ's music is that he was producing hip hop instrumentals long before guys like Dr Dre and Timbaland were doing it....Listen to tracks like Leave me alone and smooth criminal, especially Billie Jean... Those could all easily could be hip hop tracks based on their arrangements... MJ without a doubt was ahead of his time...

  • Never compare Michael Jackson Music with all that Rap Crap Hip Hop shit.... Oh, God!

  • aww lighten up....Rick is right to a certain degree.....or did you not get the black or white message?...jeez

  • yea i used to be all in hip hop and stuff

  • @stratos4101 Aint hiphop real music? I mean, ofc there is more then Hiphop, but its still real music. but I dont know what kind of hiphop you listen to.

  • @skemsaren im not sayin hip hop isnt real music im jus sayin...i appreciate other types of music alot more, than i used to...

  • you are right on so many levels

  • Never insult Hip-Hop!

MJ did influence a lot of producers from all genres, especially hip hop....

Just check out the sequences he is brilliant!

  • @crismoraes99 fuck you motha fucka if it wasnt for Michael we wouldnt have hip hop. so ill compare all day. you obviously dont know shit bout music

  • Comment removed

  • MJ may not have known how to write music or read it very well...but he was a music producer through is soul. He could do the beat in his head and then have someone produce it. But u are half right about this song! He didn't produce this song.

  • @petiteAlicious Which explains Billie Jean was a hit. It was WRITTEN BY: MICHAEL JACKSON so don't tell me he cant write music well.

  • @TheSonsOfLight , again, you are wrong! MJ became a producer himself!!! he produced alone many songs. that can be very easily verified.

you are confusing Paul McCartney wtih Stevie

  • R.I.P

    watch my michael jackson video!
