After this tour, Flatley was suffering from constant ache and pain in his legs and had to take medication while at the same time seeking almost daily muscle-therapy to get his legs back to normal again. At least that's what i've read. He did put together one hell of a show tho..

Jean Butler fed off that spark when these two were together, giving some of her most outstanding performances.

God she's beautiful though.

This and LOTD were Flatley's brainchildren. The concept, production and choreography were his. He gave a lot of talented people a venue, a stage, an audience and steady work for at least ten years. You're not crazy; it's a requirement for Irish step dancers to have their hair curled and styled that way. Either its curled, or a wig is worn.

Requirment! Wow! I didn't know that, I've seen many I.S.D. shows where some girls have their hair only down to their ears, nothing like long curls. Some where masks, some are BALD. It might be a requirment in dancing schools, and in riverdance, but many shows that still do TRADITIONAL I.S.D. have short hair, and just strait and flowing. So maybe your mistaken as you ALWAYS need to have curled hair. Anyway, just love the dancing and the music, does hair really matter?

I should have added this, though: "In every level of competition the dancers must wear either hard shoes or soft shoes, and white poodle socks or tights. In commission schools, female dancers either curl their hair or wear a curly wig, although most dancers these days wear wigs. In more festival schools the hair is often worn down and loose."

This version is still my favorite. The best Riverdance pair.

I know Colin Dunne is wonderful, but I always thought Flately had more charism, & made it look *fun* in ways Dunne didn't. On the other side Flately's other dance partners have been amazing, but Jean's steps are so graceful, more ethereal than any dancer Flately's paired with since, and she made it look so easy.

When they were on stage together, it was breathtaking. My favorite irish stepdance pair!

This year was 1995 and it can be found on VCR and called "Riverdance, The Show." It was performed at the Point Theater in Dublin, Ireland and is THE ORIGINAL Riverdance. It had the Irish feel and flair that later shows do not have and the audience was absolutely stunned by it's brilliance: the cheers and applause after each segment were deafening. Yes, I was one of the lucky ones to see it in Dublin after it opened and it was like nothing I had ever seen, before or since.
