The stages in Russia are raked, meaning they tilt forward so you can almost fly into the audience, and its much harder heading back up the stage, need a really strong lower back...I know this is not a Russian stage.. was it performed in Italy?

Everything I would say has already been said. However, I think there's one particularly interesting thing that happens here. Both of their développé en avants and the sauts de chat were at the same height. However, Sylvie's looked perfectly feminine and beautiful, while even though they did the same move, Roberto made them look very masculine. I really don't like watching feminine male leads at ALL. These two are the best out there.

i dont think he is fat at all,he is probably the best male dancer to have ever come out of italy,he is certainly a lot better then the dull and boring bonelli!

im not too sure about the choreography of this pas de deaux but from as technical point of view its completely flawless,as is everything else "la guillem" does

i agree she doesn't even look at him that much if i was here and i had the opportunity to dance with roberto i wouldn't have taked my eyes of him he is so handsome!!!!!!! and a beautiful dancer, and yes her kitri isn't exciting i don't feel all that energy trough all my body she doesn't make me want to smile as plisetskaya, maximova, harvey or osipova a strong technician no doubt but her dance as kitri is empty. i didn't watch anything just a 180 ponche, luv u guillem but as kitri no, sorry.

You would like to see the videos of Lorna Feijoo and Viengsay Valdes, both from the Cuban ballet school. Their performances in this particular role are as good as the one of Sylvie Guillen or, in my opinion, better. Ofelia Gonzalez was a good ballerina but cannot be compared to Sylvie Guillen or the Cuban ballerina assoluta Rosario Suarez. To say that her Kitry is the best of the all the Cuban Kitries is a gross exageration.

Syvie Guillen has everything, beauty, talent, technique and histrionic personality. This adagio is to some extent different than the one we dance in America but it is beautiful and keeps the Petipa's signature. She is amazing, delicate but strong, solid and yet very light. She is one of the best, no doubt.

To be honest, I don't like how Guillem interpreted Kitri here either. It's her wedding for pete's sake and yet there is no chemistry between here and Bolle. Now, Alina Cojocaru and John Kobborg in this pas are amazing, but they are together in real life so they make it believable. Kitri is able to marry the man she loves, she should be rejoicing.. and dancing like she's in love.

@czechmate85 you know what I was there and have seen Sylvie soooo often on stage. Unfortunately she has a kind of face that does not read on amatorial vids. This has been always her curse also because there are so few commercial vids of her, especially in repertoire pieces (bad girl Sylvie..). But if you see her live you realize she DOES interpret and feels the roles.....

no i dont think so ofelia is a kitri with bravura but she will never have the bravura of plisetskaya even osipova, and ekaterina maximova plisetskaya is remember because of her bravura and her extraordinary jump in don quixote, ekaterina because she has the bravura without loosing her technique and osipova was compare withplisetskaya because she was a kitri with fire many would disagree with me but its true.

Boring .. but in a beautiful way.. I miss the spirit of the character .. she has a perfect body and everything is in place, but i have the feeling she is doing steps instead of dancing the role of Kitri. In this role i like for instance Nadezhda Pavlova much better.

I can't believe how everyone has been reacting to your comment! I actually agree with you. Yes, Sylvie performed this with PERFECT technique (as she always does,) but the spirit of Kitri is gone...maybe that's just how she interprets the role.

It's not like you said "SYLIVE SUCKS!" You gave a reason for why you prefer it when someone else dances this role, Anyway, its not like that suggests that you don't like her. The people responding are the ones who are critiquing YOU without legitimacy.

he saved her on the second a la seconde pirouette. she was really falling over and he stepped to her side to pull her up with one hand. that is an awesome partner. I love both Roberto and Sylvie.
