  • he plays like aaron spears damn

  • thats art blakeys move fam

  • 25 people are racists or cannot play the drum

  • man thannks for that great tips;)

  • If you are having any issues with this fill its triplet based. Most gospel drummers show the stickings along with the accents to show you what it is, regardless of what set notes its in (i.e. 16ths-32nds-16th trips, etc....).

  • He is a great drummer, but he is not helping you guys on this. The crossover he is playing is a triplet. Not a single stroke roll. Count it 1andA2andA3andA4andA. Hope this helps. I would learn it on the snare or the pad before playing on the full kit.

  • so bad...

  • i play drums, and i am not very noob ,but i was a noob ,i just couldnot undersand what the stupid thing are you teaching... that rythm is too hard for begginers !!! and also they dont need it... would be better if you teach a 4/4 single beat.

  • @202drummerboy its not hard for me at all

  • Is this a dvd?

  • what snare is that your using

  • your f*king funky man!

  • that is one groovy dude

  • best drumer>:D<

  • whats the name of the song when you put it in a group

  • though the sticking is RLRL it isnt asingle stroke roll. Its actuall eitgh note triplets with the accent on the own beat.

  • @dvdzpi Not Necessarily. It could just be Regular eighth notes with accents on 1, the "and" of 2, 3, and so forth. And yes, I dont believe that qualifies as a single stroke roll either.

  • That's good, but I wouldn't consider it to be ultra-advanced. I can play that and I don't consider myself an ultra-advanced drummer, no offense to him. Just the descriptions on these videos are really exaggerated and misleading.

  • @darthjoey13 yeah man i totally agree

  • Damn that floortom sounds battttt. And he is playing Tama .

  • I figured that out ages ago

  • @lilspanky57 Tony Royster Jr. just toured with Jay-Z. Jay-Z has worked with other drummers.

  • stuff is very helpful

  • it says that he drummed on the song show me whatcha got. not that hes jay z's current drummer. he hasnt only worked with one drummer his whole life.

  • Count 16th notes 1e+a 2e+a

The accents are on 1 a and the e of 2

  • and DAMN he can GROOVE!!! haha love that sample at 3:14!!

  • what are those hihats?

  • He IS the one the did the recording !!! I was there

  • thanks for breaking it down slow.

  • yea, but bam did the original recording

  • hahaha tune the floor tom yo!!!

  • wait so this is the drummer that does show me what you got?? wow..

  • god

  • rocking music

  • nice, appreciate these tips bam! you tha man brotha..

  • you are the best thank you for teach me

  • that's bam, he Jay-Z's drummer. I'm sure he knows what he does and you never use rings in a studio

  • that is nasty at 3:11 just nasty good.

  • its not a double bass pedal... he is just pro :D

  • get some E rings for your toms. or O rings whatever u call them. same thing. O or E rings. :)

  • thank you man

  • is he using a double bass drum pedal in these videos, or is that speed all from one foot? Does anyone know

  • well i cant see two drum pedals so im assuming its one foot.

  • yeah dude you can clearly see that is one foot.

  • You didn´t look the vid? One Beater!

  • great lick! sure fire on the drumset...

  • OH YEAH DOC BAM BAM RIPPED IT ON "SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT" but tony kills it

  • i thought tony royster jr was the drummer for "show me whatya got" not this guy. i've never heard of him before.

  • tony was on tour with jay, but this the drummer that just blaze used to do the track, they got his video on here with him playing if you look up just blaze

  • great explanation! loved watching this clip

  • they're all pretty awfull. don't even bother getting any. save up enough money for avedis zildjians or aa/hh if you're into sabians

  • Ok thanks bro

  • thank you this is the first thing i learn, and yes im a begginer.very helpfull

  • So in other words he's just playing triplets for the cross over.

  • Very helpful. thanks:]]

  • @ 2:33...he misses and hits the sticks..lol

  • I was going to say that it is pretty much triplets as well. He is sick on "Show Me What You Got" though!

  • ya it does

  • might be a mic problem

  • You ROCK!

  • very good tips I learn a lot from you ;]

  • that sounds way to sexual. don't get mad when you reed this. you know it to be true

  • if he has mic'd all of the drums, why does it still sound band?

  • *bad

    my bad. lol

  • because its a tama imperialstar lol

  • I like this guy and i like his style but he did not play that accented rhythm he talked about at the very beginning he basically just played a triplet pattern off the hats and floor tom. and accented the hihat only..so it's a little confusing..He has great feel though and I like the hip hop style grooves..cheers..DT43

  • First i think U-R great as a drummer, and damn you are good as a teacher 2, i lov rock music but i hate those drummers who just wanna show us how amazing they R.

  • Those are 16th notes. you count them like 1e+d, 2e+d,3e+d, 4e+d. The accents are on 1,d, and the e of 2. try it.

  • hm, what he played on the beginning on the hats wasn the same rythm.

  • Yeah, it wasnt.. thanks god you caught it.. anywayz, nobody is perfect..

Practice makes perfect but again, nobody's perfect so practice.

    hahahaha..

  • Excellent teaching man...breaking things down like you do and not getting on an ego trips like a lot of people do on you tube...is just what people who are learning the drums need...keep it up buddy...great job !

  • I agree

  • reading is just another important tool to have dipshit. U still have to play well so go practice genius

  • Music is a language and if you want to speak don't just learn the slang learn the language and for thos of you who don't know this is a rudiment called triplets.

  • nice kit but the Hi Hat sound shit through those mics

  • Grande!!! Grazie mille, è molto utile!

Great!!! Thanks a lot, it's very useful!

  • gracias x la aportacion y es de gran ayuda peace!!

  • at first your just doing paradidles

  • The mics suck.

Nice kit, nice playing. But the micing sucks so it sounds worse.

  • Good stuff I need to know if you have any clinic coming up anytime soon!

  • gracias muy buen material de apoyo

  • Clicked on this vid. just killing time. I dont play drums or have a kit (or a clue) but I SOOO want to learn now. Amazing.

  • Damn He Jams at the end.

  • how much is a decent kit worth? u know..like his!

  • i practiced that every day for a week thanks so much

  • thanx. it helped a lot ;)

  • u are SO good and your kit sound amassing

  • You ROCK!

  • omg... chillest drummer ive ever seen =P

  • Thanks...i am actually learning things now XD

  • looks easy and sounds cool which is just wat i like

  • cool

  • the only problem i have with hear and play or transcribing products is tha it does not teach you to read music which is justas important as playing

  • true but it does say "Hear and Play Drums" so i think that is implied

  • it does say hear and play, alot of black musicians play by ear that one reason to. not that they don't read up on music or anything. I know many people who can play the mess out of an instrument but dont know anything about music theory.

  • Reading is not as important as playing at all! When was the last time you ever heard a good musician and thought, "Wow!! he read the shit out of that song!" Unless you are in the symphony,I suggest you listen more, and get the most of music. :)

  • you know what i think you have a good point!

  • haha. yeah dude, When was the last time you saw a complicated solo, and though "man i need music for this because its too complex for me to play by ear." That HAS NEVERA FUCKING HAPPENED.

  • I strongly urge and encourage all musicians of all styles to get continuing music education from the Hear And Play brand of products.

    Grammy Winning Engineer

    Khaliq Glover aka

    Khaliq-O-Vision

  • playing this type of music can help you so much. it makes you better with ur transitions and ur diddles. trust me it has helped me so much

  • Thats really cool.

  • OMg , Thats COOOLXD

  • Probly know more then you =]

  • Ive seen this guy before live, he's good!

  • out of all the clips he made, this is probably my favorite one.

  • i THINK DIS KINDA MUSIC IS GOOD AND THANKS TO MY FRIEND fABIAN WHO TOLD ME TO GOON THIS SITE.. MY FRIEND MICAELLE LIKES IT..... bRO SAMUEL FRANCIS ELDER DESMOND SON....

  • these are the kind of fills that gives music a great sound. It sound so difficult to play (When he plays it fast) but it is easy to learn. I really !!!! like that.

  • This guy is great. I am very pleased he is teaching his fills. Some 'gospel' drummers are so afraid to share 'their' fills as if those fills are theirs to begin with. He's a good teacher and I appreciate his willingness to teach those fills that make more heads turn than a Tony and Guy Solon.

  • gay ahah

    jk

  • yeah

  • Lovely groove,nice tech..

  • nice vid.

  • awsome groov m8 =P

    thank you

  • Really cool, Thanks very much, Iam a beginner so I need all of the help that I can get..

  • true

  • to se it type in - 1500 or nothin

  • Bam was the drummer who play "show me what you got" the song Jay-Z had. he's a beast fo real. if you really see hime play you'll be like damn he's nice!!!!

  • he knows what hes doin on the set but his tech is somewaht sloppy - thats why his sticks click - but i can still learn from this guy - thanks for the vids :)

  • very good

  • eh surely he plays somethin different on the hi hat than what he plays on the floor tom and hi hat on the hi hat he accents on the 1, the and of 2 and the and of 3, and then when he plays it on the floor tom and hi hat he plays like a triplet thing.

  • really nice. very helpful. thanks.

  • that is actually relly helpful! thx

  • hey man thanks i just played the very exact thing you did man it's easier than shit...seriously...

  • damn....haha..he's pretty good
