i really don't think so man. while 陽 can be interpreted as "sunshine" by itself, when we use it with 太 it is sun with no doubts. i think that if they would wanted to say "sunshine" the might have used "サンシャイン" like in the chorus, 陽光（ようこう) or even 日影（ひかげ）. cheers

Have to disagree with you on this on. Japan does have a lot of talented artists, but seeing how the pool of artists is limited by population - I'd say that the level of talent in the U.S. is MUCH higher.

Unfortunately, a lot of what you'll hear on the radio / MTV is pretty unoriginal and uninspiring.

I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV, all the music I listen to I find on my own (in the past via record shops, zines, going to live shows etc, now via internet as well) but in my opinion Japan (and the UK as well) have a huge pool of talented musicians and bands that are better than most of the music from the US. No doubt there are great US artists and bands, but I don't think that means the talent level is higher. Again this is just my opinion, to each his own.

You can find practically any kind of music in almost any language possible. Shutting down doors isn't very smart, since lot of good music will be missed. No matter how many American artists you've heard, you can't make a value for region's music based on that. (and [IMO] most songs playing in television and radio sounds crap, no matter what country it is.)

Completely irrelevant: I've loved Rip Slyme for five years and I still can't forgive this half naked girls -thing. Song is great though.

I don't shut out music from any corner of the globe, I listen to stuff from all over, I am just stating that IMO I like stuff from Japan and the the UK the best. There are a ton of great artists from all over. What I said is that I don't think America has better music because they have more bands/artists to choose from.

Music is all personal taste anyway. As for shutting out music, I don't think excluding radio or MTV means much esp here in the US, the music that is rotated on radio/MTV is easily accessible, I choose to look for the hidden gems that not everyone knows about, and usually find much better artist/bands, even in the US. Remember this is just my opinion, and only that, I have no desire to tell anyone what else what to think or listen too. But Rip Slyme is pretty damn awesome.

Regional thinking is pretty silly. I don't think that any region should be put in front of the others, since there's no way to measure how good certain music is.

My only problem with your post is that you say you like stuff from Japan and UK the best. Since you've only heard limited amount of artists, you shouldn't stereotype a whole region based on stuff you've heard. It's a personal opinion of course, but it just doesn't really hold any meaning.

Hence this "USA pool"-thing is stupid, too.
