Hi CoiledClock (I'm being careful how I spell your name!).
Before we go off track and start on the EU, I agree it has nothing to do with the British Monarchy, but please note that MEPs are elected and fortunately the EU is not a monarchy.
It is, of course, a fact that the House of Commons has the power to abolish the Monarchy. That's one of many things that inspires the campaign to replace the Monarchy with an elected head of state.
Good we accept the house of commons have the undisputed right to remove the monarchy. There for its not a problem because the people dont vote for parties that want them gone,
CoiledClock, you say the Monarchy is not responsible for the House of Lords. I would put it differently: the Monarchy is part of the same problem as the House of Lords. Both are undemocratic institutions, part of a bygone era, that should have ended long ago.
You see it as part of the same problem, just because two things are unelected does not mean they are part of one big problem. The European Union is undemocratic too. You can not blame that on monarchy.
The house of commons has the power to over rule the house of lords and abolish the monarchy. We choose who sits in the house or commons. There for its obvious whos to blame :)
1. Their presence obstructs democracy. Democracy means we choose the head of state. We can't be passive in such matters and hope they fade away.
2. Yes but any law can be ameneded in the Lords without us electing them.
3. I do.
4. Democratic republics are the best choice logically and morally.
5. See 2.
6. 4 people making videos doesn't mean the majority support your view. You have offered no justification for your view other than "just because". 4 people have made a video..so far.
1. why is it important to vote on who becomes head of state? Some republics just allow parliaments to select their heads of state. The people we vote for can get rid of the monarchy if we want
2. but the house of commons has the power to over rule the lords. the commons can refuse to accept laws amended by the lords using the parliament act. most are appointed by those we elect anyway.
3. good
4. in your mind
5. see 2
6. It highlights how many care about the republican cause

You offend me, i cant get rid of you.
This is a democratic country, there will be an election in less than a years time.
The monarchy is not responsible for the house of lords, blame those we elect to parliament for not reforming it.
No democracy is perfect
House of commons is for the people by the people.
lol, why do christians care jesus was the son of god if one family does not matter?
The British people are happy with our monarchy thanks

1. I am not obstructing democracy so no
2. We're democracy light at best. The House of Lords is unelected and subverts our democracy
3. The House of Lords are part of the wider system that I object to, I apologise but the limit was 60seconds on the video
4. No but we owe it to ourselves to make it the best we can.
5. The commons is part of massive vote wastage and has its laws clawed over by the Lords so our say is almost discounted.
6. I am British and want them gone, hence why I made this

1) if the people want an end to monarchy the monarchy will end. They are not obstructing democracy
2) House of commons has the parliament act to over rule the lords.
3) Labour said it would deal with the house of lords, they failed blame them
4) true but who says your way is the right way
5) MPs for most of the government, the commons can over rule the lords and abolish them. The lords cant abolish the commons.
6) The majority of British people support the monarchy. 4 people made videos
