Use Backup For Root User and back everything up.

But when you restore, make sure you restore ONLY your apps (apk)...

If you restore other stuff, it will give you problems on these new builds....

Its a great app. Literally, all your apps will magically appear in your app drawer after restoring! 1 CLICK! =D

BTW, is your phone one of the MyTouch3G's with the 192MB of RAM? I'm getting one in a couple of weeks and was a bit worried with the performance when I realized that it had less RAM than the Hero which has 288MB...

right now, i had to re-do my "root your g1" process because it was stuck at the G1 screen and kept re-starting but was stuck at that screen. So i did a few things, and now I have JF's RC33 (I know, really oldddd!) and I'm having to re-do EVERYTHING. I was on JACx_HERO 1.5 CRC1 build and something happened when I was trying to flash over to MoDaCo's ROM. *sighs*

You have to use a fresh flash using NO backup utilities...

So wipe, wipe ext3, wipe again, repair ext file systems, flash the ROM. Don't use nandroid. Don't use any backup apps from the market to restore any settings...

Ya, go into recovery and scroll down to "enter console" and type this in:

(press enter)

# mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd

# rm -rf /system/sd/*

# reboot recovery

After that, wipe like regular then scroll down and select "repair ext file systems"

After that, flash the rom like normal and reboot. =)

Ya, you gotta go to your weather app and go into the apps settings and change it to farenheit.

Then put the flip clock on your homescreen and you should see the weather there. =)

Just reboot your phone into recovery and "enter console" like before...

(press enter) then type this in:

ums_enable

On your computer you'll be able to see your memory card now (thats in your phone) and you can drag and drop whatever you want

When you're done type this into console:

ums_disable

then:

reboot recovery

to get back into recovery. =)

How is the messaging in this Hero ROM? I know there's been a lot of issues with messaging in most of the Hero ROMs that have been released (missed texts, messages not sending, etc), and that's pretty much the one major reason why I've been holding off on switching to Hero.

What does Hero have that Stock doesn't? Just the way things Are set up on Hero? (thats the only glaring thing I can see difference wise)

Shadow is a Hero ROM. Lol... Just themed and stuff. =p

Hero has the different homescreen with all those crazy twitter widgets and stuff.

Also, the apps for music, browser, albums, and the icons are different. Just look at the difference between Shadow and your stock G1 which had cupcake.

If you have a cupcake ROM, you can't have Hero widgets, apps and homescreen.

I personally LOVE the way the Hero homescreen moves as well as Hero music app, browser, widgets etc... That's why I LOVE Hero.

Lol... Cyanogen makes Cupcake (now Donut) ROM's which are basically like your stock G1. Just faster.

JAC makes Hero ROM's AND Cupcake ROM's...

His cupcake ROM's are called JACxROM if you wanna give one a try... I think they use Hero apps just not the Hero homescreen (Rosie).

Ya, this is really fast... for a Hero ROM.

As far as the speed of opening and switching apps.... Nothing can really compare to a Cyanogen.

But then again, its kinda like comparing apples to oranges...

They have compcache backing and linux-swap enabled at the same time which can't be done so you have to manually go in and turn off linux-swap which not only do I NOT know how to do, its just a little more complicated than most people can handle. There are a lot of ROMs but JAC's line are generally considered the best if you want something close to stock.

If you want something more flashy then you might wanna try Twisted Zero's...

Oh ya, well, BEFORE you set the flip clock on the homescreen just open your weather app FIRST and set celcius to Fahrenheit.

Then put flipclock on the homescreen, choose your city, and WAH LAH! Weather. =)

Its for making the Homescreen run smoother...

When you come out of sleep, you may notice a slight stutter when changing screens. That's because the minimum cpu is set waaaay low and for it to scale up to 528 takes a second or 2... =p

Oh, and if using a overclock app sounds too risky for you, JAC gave me the okay to edit user.conf to set it higher. Which is totally safe. =)

thanks for the help emogamer this is how i stopped the boot loop when coming from cm 4.04, found it on xda: try this: go into recovery. then console. then do as follows: enter mount system cd system mount sd cd sd rm -r app_s reboot recovery then wipe, then flash. the above command fixed my boot loop. also jac 2.0 is out.
