I wonder why they used riffs from Protest that Fuzz helped write on Guarded, without credit.

Dan stated in a recent interview: "Ultimately, we decided to return to our 'signature' sound, but make things darker, ballsier, and harder. So to give David something more aggressive to sing over, I went back to the vault and revived some of the old riffs from the band's early days."

Fuzz wrote the Bass riffs. And Moyer probly rewrote them in his own style. If not, it won't be the first time. On the believe CD, they took Fuzz's name off the CD after a while.

When Fuzz was with the band, they worked the songs out together - it was a collaborative effort - the song is collectively theirs.

In recent interviews (post-Fuzz) regarding songwriting, the other 3 are mentioned & John is not (see Dan's interview in ultimate guitar.) I don't know for sure what that means. But changing it up doesn't change the fact that the song was written by the original 3. It doesn't make it right - I say this from a musician's wife's POV. Continued...

My husband is recording with a friend - playing bass. His friend gave him the basslines to play - he's a hired gun - no credit & he's getting paid.

Why use songs he helped write when they have new personnel? My opinion (yours may differ) is that Fuzz was key to their signature sound. That's not a cut on JM, they're just different & Fuzz is my preference.

They CAN'T take his name off Believe. Jerks can mess around on Wikipedia but there's no way they can do that legitimately.

I think adamzez was referring to Wikipedia. Users "think maybe" he left the band before believe so they put John's name on the credits... then someone has to fix the article. Just like everything else on the internet, people state their uneducated guesses as fact. Pretty stupid when the info is right there on the damn CD eh?
