This is by far the best broken rotator Thunderbolt video on YouTube. The sound quality is amazing, and you had the gain set just right. This is so clear that it could be used as an electronic siren tone. I'd love to hear what this would sound like blasting out of a Whelen 4008!

Good job turning the gain up at the end to catch the other sirens.

@LouisvilleTorn8o Thank you! I was so afraid the whole time that I still had the gain set too high, and I didn't want to touch it in fear of ruining the recording. I lucked up big time and it happened to be set just right (still minor clipping but barely noticeable). I agree, this would be absolutely epic to play over an electronic siren, especially a rotating one! And yeah, I've gotten into the habit of going back and bumping up the gain as high as I can after the main siren is finished.

I really want to get a video of the 1000 next to my school. overall the condition is amazing, but it is nearly impossible for me to get a video.

@MrSciencetificsasuke That's probably the best part! That's when you can feel the sound the most, when the frequencies start getting in the lower range, which also seems to hit the horn's "sweet spot". I still say this is the only type of siren I've ever been able to really feel the sound from it at close range, and it was definitely not the first time here that I've experienced that either!

@murrfarms yeah i do think the wind-downs louder than the wind-up and main phase cuz it echoses more and theres one about 3 miles away from me a 1003 to be exact and it does tests and if i cant hear the siren i can always hear the BLARGHHWHOOOSHHHHHHH wind down for sure always

I guess 2011 is the year for broken tbolt rotators lol. Theres like 3 vids on youtube with broken tbolts

@stlchevy95 Haha must be. This one's been broke for quite a while now, according to the guy that owns the sign store that it's next to (ex-fire station). He said one month it worked, the next it rotated about 1/4 turn and quit. There's another video taken last year of this same siren on here by another user, and it was broken then too. Looks like the wind from a storm or two might have moved it around a little since his recording, because it's turned about 1/8 of the way more clockwise now.

A Thunderbolt which is close to where I live recently had its head rebuilt. I drive by it every so often and for a few weeks its head was missing.

Nice! Sounds great! I KINDA wish it wasnt as healthy as it was. With it pointing directly at you, you could hear litterally every problem it would have. But, overall, a healthy t-bolt cant be beat. I gotta say, with the broken rotator and chipping paint, it sure surprised me with that healthy sound.

@timeslip325 Oh yeah, this thing was probably the healthiest in-service Thunderbolt I've heard in person yet. I can honestly say I have never had a siren hurt that badly before lol. But that was mainly because it was pointed at me for a full 3 minutes, 15 seconds!
