hyenas are great, they have so much more personality than lions. lions sleep for 20 hours a day, that's plain lazy. hyenas are infact the top predator in africa. it's more common for a lion to scavange a hyena kill than the other way round.

Wildlife shows aren't gonna show you a pack of hyenas taking down a wildebeast simply because they don't want you to watch it. It's a much more brutal affair when a hyena kills than when a lion does. But if yo're not satified, just look it up on google or wikipedia, it'll say exactly what i've said.

@SilentNight521 Wrong again. Hyenas are like wolves, in that their energy knows no bounds. A hyena will pursue prey for miles. A lion however is all out of puff after a quick two minute dash which 80% of the time, bares no fruit at the end of it. You're not seeing a few hyenas take on a lion for food. You're seeing a lion take on a few hyenas for a kill they probably made. Like I said to the other guy, go to Kenya, and see it for yourself.

Hyenas are underestimated. They have very strong jaws and they're actually pretty good hunters - as far as I know. And I think they're beautiful! =)

I wouldn't want one, because I wouldn't know how to treat it right and it certainly wouldn't be happy in a village. (but the place in the vid looks quite nice for them, I guess)

But I'd love to touch one! (It's on my 'do before die' list.... maybe I should make it the last point though ;P)

Besides pit bulls are dangerous too and people keep them as pets. The dog got it's name from being thrown into a ring with a bull so it could kill the bull. does that sound much better than a hyena?

And some people maybe don't know that hyenas have the stongest jaws among mammals. They can eat a whole animal, even bones.
