  • Wow?!

  • he is my teacher

  • @somotastic21 and yet completely missed the point. I suggest reading his book "The Way of Zen" to better understand the concept. Though it really shouldn't need a book to learn it well.

  • anybody know which talk this is from?

  • And one of us are co creating the experience. The one that recognises ones ability to create is the one in control. True control is perfect harmony and recognition in the Spirit of Love. All is here and now. It is always so. And even when we fear the present, it is only that we fear separation from the whole, which is impossible of course, and therefore make fear led choices which lead to more fear. Its like a spiral. You choose UP or DOWN. The choice is always yours.

    Your thoughts please..

  • @SOCRATES012 let me get what you smokin on

  • @willie1490 Come and join me Willie? ;)

  • @SOCRATES012 Sounds about right.

We all co create as the one within us all shows us all the way back to ourselves as "tabula rasa," blank slates ready to accept life in all its glory. The nothingness of our very being is the experience of life here and now. Nothing to fear about nothing ;)

  • "Come to your senses." Great Watts line in all his meanings----

  • love alan watts lectures, everything always resonates so well and there is always some level of synchronicity/relevance to the particular message at the time

  • it was under the influence of mdma when i came to the revelation "i am 'God" i don't know why though, very strange. was much harder to grasp when i came down, but i understood the experience as fully legitimate. it was so comforting when i realized that similar conclusions have been reached by many throughout history. one of the only times i ever took the substance. perhaps i was able to do this because used it in a non-social setting set has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • @dbufi At first I didn't believe mdma to have those types of effects either. I've never personally had anything like that on mdma, but most definitely know people that have. I believe it's because of my ridiculous tolerance to the drug, but I certainly know the revelation you're describing. I've had my fair share of it with LSD and sensory deprivation. You are definitely not alone. Start meditating, if you aren't already, and keep reading. Everything will come together like you wouldn't believe.

  • @dbufi Ive had a very similar experience to you. About 4 months ago, i had mdma at a friends house, safe environment, good music, nice visuals on the screens, able to pop out for fresh air and talk to each other. That night led me to understand that I was a part of the whole and the part I am is essentially the life force that creates reality. We are One. This is what i realised.

  • help me i dont understand!!!

  • @fechegaray7 Be yourself.

  • @fechegaray7 Start meditating every night! takes a long time to truly understand.

  • @ebowebo Meditation will not help you "understand" - because then you believe you don't already understand, and you are trying to get somewhere. Instead know that meditation is not really important if you understand what changes when you meditate. Freedom, love, call it what you will, the truth remains constant. Simple awareness is simple if you just expierence it directly, without thought, which is not only possible but TRUE. Be the symphony God plays and join the party! :)

  • @DrummerofSummer People will believe whatever they want to believe :) carry on

  • Get with it!

  • i dont understand why they have lied and indoctrinated us,

and i see everything around me as lies and illusions everywhere and everyone is brained wash this is a nightmare,

how did it get this far,

    WTF is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @willie1490 Hi, now you know this , now go within and wake from the nightmare. You dont need to know why, take care! x

  • @willie1490 i know huh! its so weird and scary! to finally see the truth

  • @fechegaray7

It's not scary. It's not weird.

  • @willie1490 Who has lied to you? The government? The media? Your parents? If this was all such a terrible nightmare there would be nothing to stop you from waking up!

  • @willie1490

    Willie,

None have lied to you. You are merely human, don't feel frustrated, but be aware of the frustration, go into it. Always doubt and question, never accept authority of any form. That does not mean you are to rebel against the systems etc, because then I feel that perhaps one is missing the point. Rebelling implies you accept your own vision as an authority. Remember, the truth lives, it flows; this means you simply ask: "Why?" - Oh, and don't take my word for it.

  • It's a wonderful world just like Armstrong sang it. In 1973, Wats said it all. It's now 2011 - and Tolle is saying it all again. Unfortunately, the modern homo sapiens remains too busy to be still. He still likes to think - and suffer.

  • @bbafroilan

Possibly the big difference between thinkers like Watts and Tolle is that Watts did not pretend there was anything to fix or do or solve in life.

Watts never claimed he was anything other than an entertainer. Tolle and others seem to have a solid agenda behind their brilliance.

Tolle has understood the Tao very profoundly as well, but there seems to be an attempt to awake others in order to fix the sleepiness of "not knowing".

Watts seems to be at ease with not knowing. Wu wei!

  • @youtlubesuxxxxxxxok Tolle frequently states that theris nothing wrong with being asleep, he only lists the concequences of being asleep. And to think that watts decicated hours of talks with no thought of empathy is 'unrealirtic'.

  • Thank you for making ready an available true knowledge your payment is knowing yourself you are a hero!

  • he s very very precise concerning his remark with the greek word for sinning! He knows what he s talking about!

  • i manipulated my destiny to encounter this. thank u

  • destiny lead mw here, thank u

  • I just got 'to know' him -- and I love him already.

    Thank you, Alan Watts.

    Wish you were still 'here'.

  • @oquwin

Life IS like a movie, but it isn't a movie that we watch and it affects us. There is only a movie, with no audience. Perception even falls within this movie with no audience.

There is only the movie, with no audience.

  • "'You TOO are the Boss's son'. That was the gospel."

  • @Murfin0086 nice

  • I wish Alan Watts' body was still alive

  • i believe everything he is saying because ive felt it before. i want back yet i dont want to lose my friends and mom. And for some reason im still caught up on a girl also. i really care for them. i want to still see them but i feel so distant from them since they dont believe in this (at least it seems they dont) ive tried to talk to them but they still fall to the illusion and im falling to cuz of my attachment. help? i know how this seems.

  • @shoefly808 Don't convince them of anything. See it for yourself and keep it to yourself, and when they are ready, they may want to find themselves: then you can be with them.

  • @shoefly808 Re: "falling because of your attachment", it's not attachment that's the problem, but unconsciousness. You don't need to get rid of attachment - even trying to would be just being attached to something else called "non-attachment". My suggestion would be to notice whatever's happening and whatever you're calling it, and then notice what happens after that, and then after that - this is called being present :)

  • @karasulas understood. thank you.

  • is there a transcript for these things?

  • The fly you hear is a CIA robot microphone gathering information as to how far the peasants have increased their intelligence before the vortex opens....

  • The date in which YouTube said this comment is posted is a lie. Because it is always read now.

  • can never get enough alan, I hope he is enjoying the ultimate reality, I wouldnt have made it with out him, Im glad people are preserving his works..

  • We doo love u Alan hope your enjoying the joy

  • We love you alan watts

  • if this helps anybody: i look at life as if it wuz a movie..cant do nuthn about wats goin to happin it jus happin on its own..all u can do is watch and experience...

  • alan watts was very sane and very intelligent, but you can be better =)

  • Thinking isn't such a bad thing you know. Come on guys, take the internet for example, it was invented by thinkers and allows us all to communicate. Plus, Albert Einstein would never have made progress if he lived in the Now. There is a danger of illusion with all this Now wishing.

  • @godno1god Albert Einstein did live in the now... He had something called Asberger Syndrome, its a minor form of Autism that turns people to mathematics instead of being social. He also had the amazing ability to view everything as a child, he gained inspiration from the world around him by being in the now. Get over your ego. The illusion is the misconception there is anything other then Now.

  • @godno1god noone, not even alan said "thinking is bad". he just said if all you do is think all you have to think about is your thoughts because you lose touch with reality. everything in moderation. and the illusion is in the thought not in the reality

  • I am not afraid of death. I am afraid of life. I started meditation - following the breath - two days ago and I already feel the benefit of it. My mind was being pulled here and there, and everyday I felt physically and mentally exhausted. This is what made me so fearful of life. Meditation brings one slowly, but surely towards Enlightenment.

  • "It is really very easy...it's too easy... that is why it is difficult!"

    - Alan Watts

  • thinking is a form of strain i thin. A constant strain on the boy sapping energy. Not that its bad!!! just constant overpowering thinking will sap vitality from us leaving our bodies open to disease, mental or otherwise.

  • I would have to say that even though allan watts isn't religious or doesn't believe in god, he still encouraged those who are religious by helping them understand what he meant by using their very own doctrines as examples. you won't find anyone today who as him who isn't partial.

  • Be here now anyone?

  • the people I really want to learn from didn't leave a comment. But my wanting to learn from other people is probably a sign that I am not where I want to be yet. Wait I already am where I want to be, I just have trouble seeing it. OH my, words, they never seem to end. Words and awareness never seem to reconcile. hmmmmm, maybe we should all go outside and watch a tree now. HAHAHAH honestly, I don't even know what I'm talking about, do you?

  • Absolutely love this guy. Why aren't there anyone else like this nowadays.

  • Alan Watts soothing voice is all i need to cheer me up.

  • sometimes i get visions of the future then it happens a minute later and i think wow that was interesting, but living in the now is how we get to the future...

  • This is great! Alan is always awesome!

  • Dear internet: the words of great minds do not need the addition of music.

  • if jesus was in india they would have tried to kill him just as fast, he would have tried to liberate the untouchables...because we are all one with the father he wouldn't have stood for it, he would have thought that they had every much of right as the high priests...they would have tried to kill him

  • My god, Alan Watts is literally as god-like as any stream of thought can be mis-interpreted as. Not to mention his voice and laugh...

  • fuck , this man is just mind-blowing

  • im not up to any religion but, to choises ...either you got the christ here, or the anti...hmm...screw that, it´s cool:))

    flow

  • Why did Alan die so early?

  • @Leofox94 he probably meditating one day and was like: 'You know, I think I am done' and then just bounced

  • @Leofox94

Cigarettes and lots of Alcohol. Anyone else would've died 20 years earlier, and this is because he is a practitioner of yoga and all other exotic exercises and eating healthy food and literally having sex. If he didn't smoke or drink, that would have saved 20 years of his life.

  • Why did allan die so early?? :(

  • why do you have to dilute Alan Watts with this music ? It´s nonsence he would never have accepted this lobbymusic *J*

  • This shit gets you laid.

  • @Sephero ????????????????? ?????

  • @Sephero

ha! sounds like youre paraphrasing Wattsie there!

  • @Sephero LOL

  • @Sephero lmfao !!!!

  • @Sephero how do you mean? *gets notepad

  • @Sephero perfect

  • I forgot what I was thinking about?

  • @Sephero soo funny, cuz its true

  • @Sephero please dont comment with brainwashed shit on these videos which are obviously too real for you to understand

  • @GoForBr0ke I think Alan would have liked that comment. : ) (which comment? I dunno!)

  • Where else would I be?

  • I love the way he uses Taoist sayings to explain Indian philosophies and Hindu sayings to explain Taoist philosophies. Then uses Biblical examples for why meditation is valid. It's like watching someone play the drums with a violin stick to prove that the drum stick isn't important. lol

  • If I were to say Alan Watts sux... all of you who identify with Alan Watts would get pissed off... but those of you who really understand Alan Watts would not get upset in the slightest... but neither would they be pleased if I said Alan Watts is awesome. That being said... the illusional self I identify with in this life thinks Alan Watts is awesome!

  • @moqutpar What if I said you suck?

    Will you identify with yourself?

  • @moqutpar who is the "I" you speak of ?

  • watts never ceases to amaze me. wonder what he would say if he were alive today, but i don't think he would be shocked at all by the way things turned out.

  • @moqutpar you got the point. Well done. There should be more people like you. Just saying :)

  • @moqutpar well said my illusional self agrees:)

  • @thinklarge21 you both suc! Watts would understand <3

  • @yacket why do we suck?

  • @moqutpar Very well put. ;o))

  • @moqutpar very well put bro

  • @moqutpar best comment I've ever read on the entire internet. (I have it on cd, the internet)

  • @moqutpar Wells said brother

  • @moqutpar you are very wise! well said.

  • @moqutpar you are awesome too!

  • @moqutpar that was one of the rare comments i am pleased to have read.

  • @moqutpar the illusional self is as important as the most divine part of life you align with.

it allows you to experience the most beautiful ups and downs of life as you do.

  • @moqutpar i wouldn't get pissed if you said it theee right way heheheheheheihiefhiehfhehe

  • @moqutpar if u understated alen whatts then u woundet be whating this......

  • Alan Watts & Nietzsche are like listening to my thought - they say what I find in my skull which isn't actually there - it only acts there, to be logical - for without logic in this dimension reason could not exist - and without reason, you wouldn't be able to survive in this solid dense material Universe where you actually have a body - and that's why there is reason - to constantly remind (and teach) you that your link with this dimension can get off if you don't take your body seriously!!!!!

  • Either I am missing something, or Allan Watts was. (I am willing to accept either) It seems that he is saying that we should not concern ourselves with the practical side of life. That "the rabble seek such things". How then Mr. Watts did you take care of your seven kids? Either you made money, or you didn't take care of your children. (I am willing to believe either). Being the bosses son does not put shoes on my children's feet, so I think I might still have to consider the practical things.

  • @JustusScottJr Yes, You've Got It Figured Out Champ. Things Are Black And White. Up And Down. There Is Only An Extreme. Consider All Sides And Perspectives For Yourself And Stay Away From Absolutes. Find The Middle Path. Stop Going Around Being A Douche.

  • @tittiesman1231 I will be very sure to take your advice titties man. You must have it all figured out.

  • @JustusScottJr You are correct - but he was as we are all forced to live and survive using the "modern" way - I see it also like this - NOTHING ACTUALLY MATTERS - your reason tricks you to the point that all the things matter - but children and "stuff" are a quite a "thing" not comparable to the words stated by Watts - don't be a sloppy thinker :) - it actually doesn't matter - when you see through reason - but if you want to survive nowadays you need to succumb to the illusionary goals - system

  • @carnivourlocust (1) I have to disagree with you on one thing. There is nothing more real to me, or that matters more than the love that I share with my children. As such, I may not have to worry myself, but (for me) life is all about concerning myself with the future of my children from many different angles and on many different levels. The three main concerns for me are their physical, emotional, and mental needs (in that order), and those are very practical things.

  • @carnivourlocust (2) I don't quite follow your "sloppy thinker" comment. Don't quite get what you mean. I used to be very into philosophy, but after I had kids, I couldn't get into it much anymore, because it always came down to the fact that aside from improving my mood, listening to and discussing philosophy doesn't do anything to improve my children's lives. The stupid to smart ratio of the world is not improving that I can see. People still just mostly want to kill each other.

  • @JustusScottJr I draw back my words as I come to the point where I respect you. I understand as I did not know you have your own sons or daughters :) and thats very beautiful to hear. Love IS something different and creates a crash in almost every philosophical thought. I THINK I understand - Enjoy Friend ;)

  • @carnivourlocust I would say that you would have to have kids to understand, but that doesn't hold true for every parent. I guess some people find their answers in music, or surfing, or art etc. I found my answer in my boys. THE question (as I percieve it) is "why am I here?" So for me, my children are the answer to that question. I'm sure that as I, and they, get older, things might change, and there will be additional questions, but for now that is enough for me. I hope that is more clear.

  • @JustusScottJr if you feel a need or responsibilty to put shoes on your children's feet then it is your right to do so... but do not judge a man who decides not to by the standards invented by the society that raised you with such beliefs... when you come to the realization that you do not need to do those things... then you can do them from a place of wisdom and free will and choose to do them without feeling like a slave to them and then you may have some peace internally...

  • @moqutpar I am not in a place to judge a man I never met. I am judging the value of his philosophy. I don't think that his philosophy is practical for everyone. For someone like me, focusing on enjoying life in each moment is just fine as long as at that moment, I have taken care of the responsibilities I have to my children. These responsibilities were not imposed on me by society. Most men in this society give their children up in a divorce. I kept mine when it was obvious my wife was not able

  • @moqutpar (2) I feel that it is a parent's responsibilty to put their children's needs before their own. I am at peace with this. I enjoy every moment I can with them, but only after their needs are met. It just seems like he is always talking about sitting around thinking or having fun. Maybe I am wrong, as I have not heard it all, but I don't think you can devote your life to contemplation and raise kids.

  • I have read the Power of Now by Echart Tolle and it is possible that Tolle got a lot of his ideas from Alan Watts.

  • Long seeking for the man like Watts, because there are lots of phony shit about east culture with things like, as Alan said, selling yoga as item, which good for you.

  • one of the best..love & peace

  • the only philsopher ever the great alan watts
