To get involved, you'd just go call a rancher and ask if you could dig on his property. Most of them sorta know what they've got and most probably would just charge you a fee. The thing is that they don't know geology and can't id the layers to dig in. If you have a geologist, you'd be able to go knock on ranch doors. If you found something of value, they'd want a %.
Damn I miss it out there.....If you know what you're looking for, you can literally trip on fossils out there. When I was in High school and would go out hunting, you'd find the things everywhere. With as green as it is, they were there in June.....

I've been scouting and digging south of Garfield in Rosebud County, good digging there if you like sea creatures.
