  • 3:08 - 3:19 what was that train??

  • When were 73 stock painted red and grey (3:09)? I live on the Picc line and I never seen it. Wierd!

  • Excellent video, at 3:15 what is with the red and blue livery of the adjacent train?

  • There used to be some wicked oldskool graffiti along this part pf the line. I feel London Underground has lost a lot of its character by obliterating the years of graffiti history with dull brown paint for the Olympics :( .. I realise I am in the minority here.

  • nice vid but your going fast

  • good but how do you hold that and drive at the same time?

  • @kaiyan246 you don't. Camera on window ledge and leave it alone till the train has stopped in the next platform.

  • Hi I was A Guard & Motorman on the Bakerloo & Northern line from 1974 to 1977

great video brings back a lot of fond memories

  • i love the piccdilly line train

  • Nice video, I remeber seeing the blue and red trains and want to know why they were painted like that. Anyone know why?

  • Lovely!

  • Amazing the blue and red stock! Fantastic vieo buddy...really felt like we were in the cab!

  • OMG who saw that blue and red piccadilly line?

  • man there were so many people on the other platform

  • Good view!

  • What does BritRail have to do with TfL?

  • It is super! Thank you!

  • i like them all :D

  • I like the 67 stock 72 stock and 73 stock hate the 95 96 stocks.

  • i like stock 67,73 and 96 not 72 95 and A stock of metropolition line

  • No! The A60 stock are the best! Followed by the older stock (1967, C69, 1972, 1973 and D78)

  • Is this line rather liberal in regard to allowing guest trainspotters a ride in the footplate (or cab) or was this taken by the driver him or herself? There really ought to be a clear (untinted) window opposite the driver's side to allow for front end viewing by the public! (My God! Look at the JR -- Japan Rail)! Sorry blokes, but BritRail has much to learn from the Japanese and JapanRail!

  • Well post some Tokyo Metro videos for us then!

  • how come they have 4 rails?

I'm a total noob when it coems ot trains :)

  • Two running rails and two electric rails one + one -

  • is that why there a bumps because there is electric rail as well?:)

  • @piccdriver O_O

  • The side rail is +420 V, middle rail is -210 V for 630 V total. Most electric rapid transit systems use the running rails for current return, or have them at "earth" voltage ("ground" in American), so they just have one third rail at the side for electric supply, eg the NYC subway - this is not practical on the London Underground - a lot of the old tunnels are in cast iron tubes, which have to be insulated from the current so they do not corrode - thus the somewhat unique 4-rail system.

  • exilent draving and stopping i love this video 1973 are my favoret tube trains

  • Brilliant driving. 73 Stocks ain't bad are they?

  • the video is amazing. for me, a tube lover, its was a 4+ minutes of enjoyment. i do miss london structure a lot. miss this lovely town.

thanks for sharing mister pic driver

  • Glad you liked it

  • i saw yesterday one docu that shows the beginning of the tube on the capital. its named MODERN MARVELS - LONDON TUBE

cheers. have a more that wonderful weekend mate

  • Mph

  • Hi there

Great video, I was a Guard & Operator from 1984 to 1993 on the Piccadilly, based at Wood Green, I collected a p-way guy on the curve under the 2nd bridge approching Acton, the dent on the front of the train was there for years!!!

    Cheers

  • do you remember the unit number it might just still be there!!!!

  • wots that tunnel on the left as you enter acton town? i travelled to school on this line everyday and alway wondered were it led to? spooky

  • It goes under the District line while it joins with it at the other end.

  • topman, i want explore the hidden parts of the underground is there a book or site dedicated to this

  • haha, did you nearly overrun the stop marker at the end? sounded like you were a bit frustrated at the end. ;P

  • No.

  • Born here and don't know much more about it living in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I want to go back and see what it's like to be in Mum's town.

  • Brings back some very fond memories. I spent a year in London back in 93-94 and lived in Acton. Took the Picc line nearly every day. I really enjoyed it. Lots of fun people watching.

  • I love this - one of my favourite tube videos. Have been travelling on Picc line for 45 years.

  • What are the blue number marks on the left of the track on departure??

  • The blue number markers on the left hand side as you leave the station are to let you know how much of your train is left in the platform. (incase of passenger alarm )

  • the tunnels in central london are pitch black so the drivers must enjoy the outdoor stretches of the line. Looks fun for awhile but I'd get bored after doing this for a few days I think .

  • Do they still use the Lt1973 Un-refurbished trains on the Piccadilly line, I never see them anymore.

  • They're all transformed into the ones you see now, all un-refurbished trains are done for so there ain't a single one on the whole line.

  • Great Vid Thanks For That

  • Why has the piccadilly line at 3.10 has different colours?

  • Centenery train 100 years, Tube Wrap ( supposed to be the first train as a work of art !!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  • I noticed that most Heathrow-bound trains lately are using one of the old District Line tracks on the far right than the usual Westbound tracks. Last month when I went to Hounslow, trains were diverted to the District Line platform at Acton Town which then continued onto the old tracks all the way down to Northfields. It's rare and unusual to see this.

  • Thats normal some trains booked down the local line. Or if theres a problem at Northfields we will run local lines.

  • Really? Thanks for the fact, I first thought there was engineering work going be happening on the local line so that most trains get diverted.

Looks like the old eastbound tracks are for carrying out tests only so far...

  • We use the East Local every day there are 3 trains booked to run local the last time I checked.

  • Are you an Instructor Operator?

  • That would be telling

  • are you a member of 655 squadron?

  • Are you chewing gum?

  • yes

  • Signals 1 x signal 5x semi automatic 2x atuo's 5x repeaters 5x fog repeaters and 2 rail gap indicators...............................

    Look harder : )

  • Thats quite a distance between 2 stations,

The train stopped on the tracks and restarted but did not see any signals??

  • yes

  • what was that red and blue train on the right near Acton?

  • That is the centenery train (tube wrap)

  • oh is that cos its 100 years of the pic in 2007?

  • Thanks for uploading! I rarely see any cab view videos of the Picc, but is there more to come?

  • good video
