  • @oevoz

6V53N (naturally aspirated) engines were rated between 180 and 240 horsepower. The 6V53T (turbocharged) engines were rated from 275-410hp. My engine came out of a Sheridan tank. The engine specifics were 315hp from the factory with high lift camshafts, 4 valve heads, and a TV8104 turbocharger. I have since replaced the high lift camshafts with low lift silver series camshafts, silver heads, and the newer style liners. I am expecting a 15hp jump over factory ratings from these upgrades.

  • @oevoz the normal aspirated 6v53 were 240 hp, the sherridan 6v53 was 315 to 340 . normally 315, u should check your figures before u give attitude.. my identicle engine dynoed to 315 horse with one dodgy injector, good build chris

  • Hopefully your neighbors are as into Diesels as you are? So what ya going to put it in?

  • The 6V-53T's I remember all had their turbos up top. Still very very nice and best of luck to you with it.

  • @nyshortline

Most of the automotive and industrial 6V53's had the turbochargers mounted on the top. Many of the marine 6V53T's had a twin turbo setup, with both turbochargers in the rear. All of the military 6V53's I have seen pictures of have a single large turbo mounted in the rear.

  • badass man sounds really good with the turbo on. that 5inch peice of pipe ur dad grabbed if u could put that on the turbo and put one bend in it upwards man would that sound mean!

  • @Unlimited3406

An exhaust system isnt planned just yet. I am still in the process of designing how I am going to install a compound turbocharging system with my quadri-bypass idea. It is a lot of stuff to fit onto the engine to increase the usable horsepower and torque. If you have a good set of headphones you can hear the difference the presence of the turbocharger makes.

  • Are you on the phone with Grigg? Nice graphic image at the start of this video. Keep the Jimmy vids coming. 6v53 is a big motor, damn.

  • @TerraformContracting

Yes I am on the phone with Grigg. I had some trouble starting the engine. It turns out that there was air in the fuel lines. I have been in contact with Grigg for two years or so now. He is very intelligent, polite and helpful. When I have a question I cannot find the answer to in the manual, I give him a call. He hasn't been wrong yet !!!
