Genial, vienen gringos aquí y ya nosotros no podemos comprar casas en nuestro propio país, si su país es tan bueno y el mejor del mundo ¿Porqué no se quedan allá y nos dejan en paz?
Costa Rica is beautiful country to visit but living here is a completely different story. Please research heavily the reality of living here. Don't let the romanticism lure you into forking over 300 or 500k for a place as often is the case. About 50% of the people that move here can't adapt and decide to leave. It's an ongoing cycle. There IS a price to pay for this paradise. A real estate agent is the last person to ask about this. Research expat's websites instead.
@pillowbugg The main thing is culture shock. In the US, people expect performance, efficiency, quality, realiability, convenience etc. These things have less priority here. This goes from handyman services to government services.Want a cell phone or phone line? You'll have to wait months for one. Want your US license validated? You'll need to wait 3+ hrs in line. The list goes one but all this requires a great deal of patience, acceptance and open mindedness.
Matt and Rachel's B and B was a success by Costa Rica standards. Matt had amazing marketing talent. but Rachel became PG and her parents wanted them nearer to their home in New Jersey. The B and B was sold a second time and not by Emerald Forest Properties and what the second owners were told EFP has no way of knowing. Costa Rica is a gift to the world and many enjoy it's vast beauty for just that reason alone.
Doing some research myself (moving there next year) I've found that the housing prices are insane. For example, I found a home, around 3000 square feet, with a 5 car garage in an upscale gated community, for 88,000 dollars US.
@lcpous Latinos es muy general, deberías ser más específico.... al menos puedes estar seguro que no soy uno de esos.

Your comment regarding Costa Rica. Could explain in short why it's difficult to adapt to this? I would certainly appreciate the reply.

88k for what you say maybe 20 years ago. Be real careful. I'd be skeptical.
